Phlebotomy Technician

Mandatory Orientation* November 9, 2015 5:30-7:30pm 2917 W Fort George Wright Dr, Spokane *Orientation attendance does not guarantee placement in the program. Students are selected through a screening process that includes orientation, written application, questionnaire, and selected interviews. Phlebotomy class schedule

Winter 2016 — 10 week class tentative dates January 4 - March 12

Week 1-4: 3-6:30 pm Monday-Thursday

Week 5-10: 3-6:30 pm Monday and Tuesday, plus clinical site work (varying day shifts) For more information on the phlebotomy program or to be placed on an interest list Call, 509-533-8057 or Visit, http://CCS.Spokane.edu/Phlebotomy

I graduated from the Phlebotomy Program in November 2013 when I was seven months pregnant. I waited until I delivered my daughter before applying for phlebotomy jobs. I applied at PAML, Sacred Heart and Deaconess. Within a week of receiving my MA-Phlebotomy certificate in the mail I was hired on with Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories. I started as a Utility Tech with variable hours and locations, but became a full time employee at PAML’s Providence Medical Office building in Holy Family Hospital after four months of employment. Before I became a phlebotomist I was working terrible hours at terrible places as a nursing assistant. When I got pregnant I knew I needed a better career for my child. The Center for Workforce & Continuing Education helped me build a foundation for my family and allowed me to grow and flourish. — Amy

Meet Instructor LeRoy Fautch In the last 50 years I have called the Newman Lake-Otis Orchards area home. As a young teen, I worked in the hayfields and the woods for local farmers. This is where I first learned and fell in love with welding. In high school and community college my welding skills sharpened! The past 30 years have been filled with many different adventures. I met and married my wife of 42 years and raised 2 wonderful children. I worked for 30 years building fiberglass boats for two different local boat companies. Not ever losing my love for welding, I was the company welder for both companies. After both companies closed, I settled in at a steel fabrication shop. This is where another love of mine golf, brought me to the CCS Yard Art class. A golf buddy who is an instructor at SCC told me of the opening to teach welding, and I jumped at the chance. I love every minute of this class. The students inspire and amaze me all of the time. I teach them a few welding skills and assist them in the construction of their projects. They create beautiful works of art. It is such a great pleasure to watch their creative juices flow. I love this job!

Yard Art Welding Shape new, used or recycled metal into yard art by using basic welding techniques, brazing and cutting material to a shape you desire. Instructor Leroy Fautch will choose and provide materials for the first project; students will design and provide materials for additional projects.
