You know that summer beach body you’ve been working on? Prepare to kiss it goodbye with these food and drink festivals. Find your favorite grilled meats at Ribfest Chicago (p.51), Windy City Ribfest (p.51), and Windy City Smokeout (p.51). At Taste of Chicago (p.51) not only can you sample all of Chicago’s iconic foods at Grant Park, but you can enjoy music from stars like Alessia Cara, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, and Passion Pit. Wash down all the food with what Chicago does best: craft beer. The Chicago Ale Fest (p.50) celebrates American craft beer with over 100 craft breweries pouring samples at Grant Park. The Chicago Craft Beer Fest (p.50) in Lincoln Park is where you go to sample the best local brews. SUMMER SOUNDS
Lollapalooza may be in August, but there are some equally impressive and iconic music festivals taking place in June and July. Start off with a celebration of Chicago’s most iconic sound at the Chicago Blues Festival (p.50) at Millennium Park.

Head to one of the few music festivals that takes place south of downtown Chicago at Mamby on the Beach (p.50). This neighborhood favorite serves up live jazz and blues music alongside the standard barbecue fare like brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken, in addition to stellar sides ranging from sweet potato fries and collard greens to smoked pit beans and mac n’ cheese. If you’re looking for a down-home country hangout right in the center of the city, Shannon Boland, chef concierge at LondonHouse Chicago, recommends Bub City (p.40). LondonHouse Chicago’s outdoor terrace, LH Rooftop (p.40), is a summer bucket list topper, offering picturesque angles of the city that you really can’t find anywhere else. Ramon Gomez, concierge at the W Chicago Lakeshore, recommends starting your evening here for a cocktail and to snap some instagramworthy photos of the stunning vistas of Chicago’s world renowned architecture and the Chicago River. Sure, the panoramic view alone of Millennium Park, The Art Institute of Chicago, Lake Michigan, and the electricity of South Michigan Avenue makes Cindy’s (p.40)—The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel’s rooftop restaurant and open-air terrace—a great spot to gather with with friends. The kids are out of school and the weather is nice. It’s time to soak up all the sun and have all the fun possible. After polling the concierge community we’ve put together a summer itinerary that will not only be easy on your wallet but will cover some of Chicago’s most iconic attractions.

You’re going to do a lot of walking today and possibly some running and jumping, so make sure you load up on breakfast to get you and your kids through all the fun. Concierge Favorite Yolk (p.35) not only has your breakfast staples but great original dishes like their Santa Fe frittata, which has the right amount of heat to wake you up and is the right size to fill you up. For a sweeter breakfast try the Nutella crepes because you deserve it. Kids will enjoy the Big Kid breakfast, but good luck keeping them away from the s’mores pancakes. There are six locations across Chicago, but you might want to check out their newest location in Marina City as it is closest to your next stop. MILLENNIUM PARK

warm day make sure you’re all wearing some clothes you don’t mind getting wet and run around the incredibly fun Crown Fountain. After you’ve explored some of the park, head over Frank Gehry’s BP Pedestrian Bridge to Maggie Daley Park (p.49) recommended by Shannon Boland, chef concierge at the LondonHouse. On the surface this seems like an oasis for children, but after a few moments no park will make you wish you were a kid more than this one. Where do you start? The skating ribbon, rock climbing wall, mini golf, play garden, or the tennis courts—it doesn’t matter where you start but you surely won’t want it to end.

You can catch a cab, but why not get some exercise and rent a bicycle from Bike and Roll (p.54) and ride up the Lakefront Trail to Lincoln Park. If you’re hungry after your ride maybe scarf down a Chicago-style hot dog or a gourmet dog from Chicago’s Dog House (p.16). Then follow Hyatt Regency concierge Omar Morales’ recommendation and head to Lincoln Park Zoo (p.55). What started as a gift of two swans and then the purchase of a bear cub for $10 has turned into one of the few free-admission zoos in the country that is open every day of the year. The Lincoln Park Zoo houses 1,100 animals in its 49 acres including lions, polar bears, gorillas, giraffes, camels, zebras, and much more. NAVY PIER
Grab your bike and head down the Lakefront Trail to Navy Pier (p.49) where you can return your bike. Brianna Connell, concierge at the Hyatt Center, finds Navy Pier as a great place to end your day. Take a load off and enjoy a view like no other from the Centennial Wheel as it brings you as high as 200 feet above the ground.
