Chicago’s dining landscape has grown exponentially this past year, having seen a slew of fresh new concepts open in practically every corner of the city. Having a hard time deciding where to dine? Let Chicago’s concierges’ help you narrow down the choices. Here’s a look at four of their favorite new restaurants around town.

CULINARY KALEIDOSCOPE
Revival Food Hall (p.18) is an alllocal dining concept that essentially serves as a best-of hit list of Chicago’s culinary staples and burgeoning talents all under one roof. The massive, 24,000 square foot venue is located in the heart of The Loop in The National building, a historic century-old property designed by the legendary Daniel Burnham. This collaborative project boasts 15 fastcasual stalls spotlighting the city’s diverse dining culture with outposts of Antique Taco, Furious Spoon, Smoque BBQ, Black Dog Gelato, the first location for sandwich-centric food truck The Fat Shallot, and much more. Concierges advice? Come hungry and prepare to gather snacks from a variety of counters to maximize your experience.
LANDMARK LOOP DINING
The Loop's stylish Kimpton Gray Hotel is home to Steadfast (p.18), a handsome, New American restaurant where the likes of wood-grilled kale with bacon vinaigrette and whole-roasted duck cassoulet pair perfectly with their extensive selection of rare brown spirits. Executive chef Chris Davies and executive pastry chef Christopher Teixeira double-team a menu of inspired dishes that infuse Mediterranean and Portuguese flavors into beautifully composed dishes. The vibe is casual but the food makes the evening feel special at Monteverde (p.36), an Italian restaurant in the West Loop. Here, celebrated chef Sarah Grueneberg blends the traditions of Italian culture and cooking with influences from her family heritage and trips around the world. At the heart of the restaurant—which was recently named by "Food & Wine" as one of 2016’s “Best New Restaurants”—is the pastificio, where the team creates fresh, handmade pastas throughout the day in all shapes, sizes, and textures. From skate wing schnitzel to her beautifully simple, but masterful cacio e pepe, the food here is always soulful and surprising.
Seafood and New American small plates round out the menu, alongside signature cocktails and a plethora of wines by the glass, all offered in stylishly edgy surrounds.
MODERN MEAT PALACE
Chef Giuseppe Tentori offers a delightful departure from the traditional steakhouse with his new River North restaurant GT Prime (p.20). Looking for expertly crafted cocktails with killer presentations? Romeo Garcia, concierge at the Dana Hotel & Spa, suggests you try River North’s new cocktail lounge Arbella (p.40). This hip spot sets the scene as a refined, social gathering place for cocktail enthusiasts and expertly pairs its long list of elaborate, globally inspired mixed drinks with equally international small plates. Aesthetically the bar is both sleek and cozy, with soft lighting illuminating exposed brick (and a stunning mural), creating a place where you can truly unwind, be transported, and stave off that winter chill. With nearly 30 cocktails to choose from, the menu is grouped into broad geographical areas and starts with light, refreshing options and progresses to stronger, more aromatic drinks like the Chicago Fire Extinguisher, a scotch-based drink with herbaceous Luxardo amaro abano and smoked Angostura bitters that is built in a round corked jar with smoke forced inside. While being able to throw those empty shot glasses at a bell located on the patio is reserved for the warmer months, Federales (p.40) in the West Loop is an ideal getaway in winter, too. A lofty tacoand-tequila establishment, they offer a fresh take on traditional roadside taco joints in Mexico specializing in barbacoa-style tacos stuffed with flavorful meats like shredded beef brisket and pork belly al pastor in addition to ceviches and other shareable fare. The booze program here puts the spotlight on
margaritas—which come in flavors like classic, mezcal, strawberry, hibiscus, and even a boozy horchata variation—in addition to a lineup of Mexican beers including Tecate served with a hot sauce-spiced rim, tequila, mezcal, and so much more. With its boisterous atmosphere and open-air design, Federales is a nice homage to festive Mexican cantinas and an ideal spot for a night out.

A lot of Chicago’s culture exists out in the open, but when the temperature drops and the wind picks up it’s hard to experience it all. Luckily enough, the city houses world-class museums where a visitor can spend days. Here are the concierges’ choices for the perfect museums for a dreary day. Cynthia Rodriguez, concierge with Corporate Concierge Services, recommends the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) (p.48) because it has “many areas to be explored that show art in perspectives of history, beauty, religion, and freedom of expression.” The AIC also has a great holiday spirit. Head inside and see some great holiday traditions like the holiday decorations of the miniature Thorne Rooms. The miniature rooms capture European interior decorating from the 13th century to the 1930s and American interior rooms from the 17th century to the 1930s. Make sure to experience the “snow” that falls every half hour. The museum’s main floor dazzles with 50 12-foot trees beautifully decorated by volunteers from Chicago’s ethnic communities representing their diverse culture and holiday traditions. “Holidays of Light” is a multicultural display of holidays that celebrate light or enlightenment. For something off-the-beaten path and fascinating, John Dillon, concierge at the Ritz-Carlton, recommends International Museum of Surgical Science (p.48). Your eyes will easily jump from the medical instruments, paintings, and statues to the breathtaking Gold Coast building they are housed in. Over 7,000 medical artifacts, 600 art pieces, over 5,000 medical books, and more are housed in a 20th-Century four-story mansion that resembles Le Petit Trianon, a French chateau on the grounds of Versailles. Andersonville One of Andersonville’s many traditional Swedish events, St. Lucia begins with a torch-lit procession down the sidewalks of Clark Street at 4:45 p.m., kicking off at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St. The procession highlight is the appearance of the specially chosen “Lucia Girls,” who will lead the crowd, wearing long white robes and beautiful crowns of candles and singing “The Lucia Song.” Children and adults are welcome to join in the procession. Afterward, participants are invited to the Lucia celebration at the Swedish American Museum.
