Event Recap

Each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Concord High School Key Club hosts a service event at the Food Bank (4010 Nelson Ave, Concord)! Although there are only ten spots available for this event, it is strongly recommended that you attend. If you choose to attend, remember to wear a mask and closed-toe shoes to keep safe and sanitary. Our attendees assisted with the organization and cleaning of a variety of items that arrive at the food bank, including oranges, water bottles, and onions! Not only has this been a fulfilling volunteering opportunity as you can make time to help others, you truly become connected with your community as you work alongside your fellow red devils and even Kiwanis! If you're still on the fence about attending, take a look at what other Key Club members have said about their experiences...

Food Bank "Working alongside Kiwanis on the annual Earth Day Food Bank Event was a blast! We organized two whole giant palette-sized crates of oranges into mini net bags (there were also onions EVERYWHERE). It was nice to make conversation with the families volunteering alongside us and, at the end of the event, we got to stand with Kiwanis for a special donation towards the Food Bank!" Tommy Nguyen “When I went to the food bank it was just Tommy, Sofia, and I. We cleaned A LOT of water bottles that came in, so many cases! We just had to wash off the dirt and put them in other crates.” Isha Saleem

Spring Fling Each school year at Concord High School, there are two events dedicated to clubs. During the spring season, one event is called the “Spring Fling” where our club participates and thrives at! Typically we sell earl gray boba tea at our booth and this year was no exception; and like always, we sold out! Our very own President Tommy Nguyen and Treasure Erin Ponce represented our club at the booth! We appreciate everyone who came out to support the club by either purchasing or setting up and selling boba tea!

What’s sizzling Concord Key Club! My name is Tommy Nguyen and I’m serving as President for the 2022-2023 term. This club has truly been a pivotal part of my life for the past four years. It has led me to become a stronger leader and allowed me to grow closer with my community. As my final year goes by, I will aim to lead this club into greater heights. Think of it as me returning the favor. For the hours that I spent yelling and cheering alongside the division. For the friends I made along the way, who all had the same goal on giving back to the community. For the opportunity to become a better person. These experiences are irreplaceable and I won’t take it for granted. To any new members of CHS Key Club reading this, take some time to come out to that service event or even a division-wide social. You never know the memories that you can make. Need to contact me? tommy.nguyen12355@gmail.com

Vice President: Isha Saleem preferred pronouns: she/her currently a junior, incoming senior favorite song: pakistani songs My primary goal as Vice President is to make sure we

have a wide variety of service events throughout the year as well as continuing to achieve club of the month. We can do this by maintaining the constant involvement in service and social events. Our club has always done so well in coming to meetings every week and participating in not only service events but social events as well. I want to make sure key club is as fun as it has been for me these past couple years and I want to promote this club as much as I can so we can gain more members to continue the key club legacy! Key club is one of many activities I like to do in school, some of these activities include being co-President of CSF, being on the volleyball team, run track as a sprinter and hurdler, and involve myself in multiple other clubs. I love being active in school and I want to get a feel of the full high school experience. My favorite hobbies include cooking and baking. Learning new things has always interested me and that’s why I challenged myself to take this position, in order to learn how to be apart of a board and commit to helping others!
