COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK AW12

LENE SAND, DESIGNER, SAND What are you looking forward to during Copenhagen Fashion Week? This year is very special for us because we are having a show at Copenhagen City Hall. Besides this, I love the atmosphere in the city during Fashion Week. It is full of exciting people and it is exuding creativity. What is your favourite restaurant or café in Copenhagen? Something we really miss about Denmark is the atmosphere. When here, we are looking for that special cosiness. We usually grab a quick lunch at Café Europa. Their kitchen spans everything from smörgasbord to exotic salads. To me, it is a classic! Which museum in Copenhagen would you recommend? Louisiana, north of Copenhagen, is my clear favourite. It has fantastic, inspiring art and exciting exhibitions. Just the beautiful ride along Strandvejen is worth the trip. What is a Copenhagen Must-see in February? Our show on Friday at 19.00 of course! The trade fairs are always exciting as well. It is especially fascinating to see, what the new and upcoming designers are showing. What can always save a rainy day? A lovely lunch with my family followed by a trip to the Grand Theatre. They have an excellent choice of Danish, as well as international films, there. Finish the sentence: I can’t live without... ...My family. Since my schedule is quite busy, I really need my family time. Whenever possible, I relax and enjoy their company to the fullest. Q&A

BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN (DK) Baum und Pferdgarten has been innovating womenswear since 1999. Characteristic for this label is a fascination with contrasts, providing a dualistic touch. It can be as a meeting between feminine and masculine, minimal contra grandiose, shiny versus matte or something completely different, as Baum und Pferdgarten always aim to surprise.

BEATE GODAGER, YASAMIN ZAFAR & HOT FRITURE (DK) It will be anything but dull, when the talented design school graduates, Beate Godager and Yasamin Zafar, meet the upcoming design brand Hot Friture. They all have a creative conceptual thinking in common and the inspirations span from the rainforests of Borneo to Danish and French food references. They are all aiming at challenging conventional clothing norms without compromising quality.

BRUUNS BAZAAR (DK) Bruuns Bazaar has been a pioneer in the development of an identifiably Scandinavian yet international fashion look for both men and women. The label’s expression is vibrant and charismatic with a blend of classic styles and modern pieces, which has created a group of loyal devotees throughout Europe as in other parts of the world.

COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK AW12

anne sofie madsen, Designer How did you become a designer? I studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Arts formerly known as Danmarks Design Skole. What was your first fashion experience? Pictures in an issue of “Alt for Damerne” from a Jean Paul Gaultier show. I kept that page for many years in a suitcase with other treasures. What are you looking forward to at Copenhagen Fashion Week? Right now I am so nervous about the show – I guess I am looking forward to the moment it starts and I know we finished everything in time. What is a Copenhagen Must-see in February? The DANSK Magazine exhibition at Danish Design Centre. What was your inspiration for your AW12 collection? Well, I should not tell you this yet - should I? But horror is a key word and a polar bear is involved. Which of your designs is your favorite piece? It changes everyday – right now it is a “bleached binding-silver fringe-dress”. What song always gets you on the dance floor? I don’t dance – well, not officially anyway. Finish the sentence: I can’t live without... ...My friends. Q&A
