Dear Ms. Jones,
The first paragraph of a typical business letter is used to state the main point of the letter. Begin with a friendly opening; then quickly transition into the purpose of your letter. Use a couple of sentences to explain the purpose, but do not go in to detail until the next paragraph. Beginning with the second paragraph, state the supporting details to justify your purpose. These may take the form of background information, statistics or first-hand accounts. A few short paragraphs n the body of the letter should be enough to support your reasoning.

202. 487.1936 dclauma@gmail.com Laumina.com Béhance.net/Lauma
Finally, in closing paragraph, briefly restate your purpose and why it is important. If the purpose of your letter is related to your employment, consider ending your letter with your contact information and title if not included on letterhead. However, if the purpose is informational, think about closing with gratitude for the reader’s time. Print Graphic Design Branding Web Design

“Good Doctor” Poster 24”x 36”
Create a poster to illustrate the lyrics of a song.
I chose “Good Doctor” by British artist Robbie Williams in which he speaks of prescription drug abuse.
WORLD CAR-
The treatment of the lyrics connotes the in-and-out of consciousness of a drug abuser. The title is an ironic question of the “goodness” of the doctor.
I went to the doctor to get a prescription I told him little fact and lots of fiction, about a bad back, I ain't got, He tried to sell me faith healing
I think not!
I want Xanax, Vicodin and Oxycontyn. Funky fill the form out, so I can drop em'

“Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb” Poster 24”x 36” Create a poster to show the benefits of Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFL). The poster sends a message of energy-saving benefits of using a CFL. Multiple rotating light bulbs take a shape of a brain, connoting “smart” thinking.
“Frederick Goudy; Martin Majoor, A Century Apart” Book 8”x 10” Write content and design a book comparing two typographers. The book illustrates similar and disparate approaches of the two typographers. Treatment of the cover alludes to punchcut letters, which both designers favor. Goudy’s name is set in a serif typeface, while Majoor’s name is set in a san-serif, denoting the difference in time when these typographers worked.
“Caterpillar” Typeface Design and create a typeface. Caterpillar is a display typeface based on Palace Script typeface, born out of contradiction and confusion. The motivation for the name is the uncertainty of a caterpillar’s life. One day it is an ugly, hairy crawling worm — the next it is a beautiful, fluttering butterfly. The typeface is created by the use of singular false eyelashes, glued to a paper, photographed and then digitized.
“Save Tigers” Poster 24”x 36” Create a PSA poster for a World Wildlife Fund. The poster illustrates the world where tigers would only be a mythical animal, just a memory.
“The Visual Language of Herbert Matter” Poster 24”x 36” Create a poster to promote the screening of the movie . The poster utilizes iconic Herbert Matter photos and designs. The treatment alludes to a film strip and gives a taste of the movie while showcasing the works from the movie.

“Bollywood Bistro” Branding re-design Redesign the Identity for an assigned restaurant. The logo represents the culture of India and the tradition of Bollywood. The lowercase “b” stands for the first letters of the company and as a representation of a film reel. A lotus flower is used to represent the virtues usually associated with this flower, elegance, perfection and purity. Typography is inspired by the Art Deco movement to emphasize a clean, friendly atmosphere, reminiscent of the 1930’s. Silver color in the logo evokes the “Silver Screen” while the gold stands as a symbol for the Bollywood vibrance, rich culture and extravagance.

The responsibility of the print team was to design dynamic pieces that would excite and inform the public of the upcoming NEXT event. We were tasked with creating both an invitation to the exclusive opening of the exhibition and a rackcard that would announce the show to the general public.
We explored many different concepts and materials for the invitation.
NEXT AT THE CORCORAN: CLASS OF 2012 FINAL INVITATION 9
The final invitation created highli the NEXT wordmark in a way tha illustrated our concept “interwea connections.” The four transpare panels each held one of the traje ries so when folded together the “next” could be read. The last pa was digitally printed with a white to help bring out the body of tex describing the NEXT exhibition a exclusive opening reception.

The invitation highlights the NEXT wordmark in a way that illustrates the concept of “interweaving connections.”
15
Four transparent panels each hold one of the trajectories and are folded accordion-style. When folded together the word “next is visible, and when unfolded, each trajectory can be viewed separately, showing how the four pieces form one cohesive element. The last panel was digitally printed with a white coat to help bring out the body of text describing the NEXT exhibition and the exclusive opening reception.
Since it was to be displayed in different locations around the city, we wanted the design of the rackcard to be fun and whimsical, yet polished and legible. Most likely to be displayed in a way where only the top would be immediately visible. That top section had to hold the most crucial information and also encourage the viewer to pick it up and continue to read. Cropping the wordmark and placing it and the information at an angle lent an interesting perspective while the unusual vellum material further enhanced its unique quality. The ability to see through the material also allows for the wordmark to be seen at all times despite it only being printed on one side.
NEXT AT THE CORCORAN: CLASS OF 2012 20 We explored many different dynamic compositions for the rackcard. We weren’t sure if the vellum material would work in displaying the information in a legible way on the rackcard so we worked with two materials, a translucent one and an opaque paper just in case. We communicated with the printed over the different materials we wanted to explore and after many texts we decided upon a heavy translucent paper.

Welcome to NEXT, a month-long festival celebrating the achievements of the undergraduate and graduate classes of 2012. The art on view and the programs that accompany it hint at the breadth and depth of the Corcoran experience, where direct and intensely creative education is the focus. It is fitting that NEXT takes place within the Corcoran Gallery of Art, as the College’s undergraduate and graduate curricula are fortified by the collection, exhibitions, and programs of the Gallery. Our students also benefit from the vast cultural resources of Washington, D.C., and beyond, as well as a varied program of international studies and a robust slate of visiting artists, among other offerings. I hope that visitors come away from NEXT as eager to discover more about the College as they are impressed by the work on display.

Setting the tone and mood of the show as well as taking cues from the print collateral, the Interior Signage team was tasked with creating an interesting, eye catching, and exciting piece that would last for an entire month. The challenge was trying to solve the problem of how to keep the exhibition space fresh every time a patron came to view the show.
NEXT AT THE CORCORAN: CLASS OF 2012

We utilized a physical string to “connect” the interior spaces of NEXT. The large sculpture on the Atrium wall would invite the visitor to see the show and create an air of excitement of what is to come. Everything is visually connected to NEXT and to the next piece, the next space. These radiating lines also work as guides to help people navigate throughout the Galleries and event spaces.

The challenge was to keep the exhibition space fresh for every visitor. A physical string to “connect” the interior spaces of NEXT was utilized. An inviting typographic wall sculpture in the main Atrium space was designed to create an air of excitement of what is to come in the rest of the Museum.

Bachelor of Fine Arts The Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the Corcoran is the College’s oldest and largest. The direct heir of William Wilson Corcoran’s legacy, it provides an intensive, quality education in the fields of design, studio art, and photography, stressing creative thinking, intensive feedback, and thoughtful execution. The range of BFA work on view in this, the second NEXT at the Corcoran exhibition, is testament to the diverse talents and broad interests of this year’s graduating class. Paintings, photographs, installations, video, animation, sculpture, and performance are among the forms of expression on view, reflecting today’s contemporary art world as well as the possibilities of the six BFA majors: Digital Media Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Photojournalism. All of the artists have arrived, after years of intensive study in their disciplines and in art history and the humanities, with individual ways of expressing themselves and their concerns. Together, their works embody the aspirations of the next generation of artists and designers.
All other spaces of NEXT were then visually connected by the string throughout the building. Essentially, these radiating lines functioned as guides to assist visitors in navigating the Galleries and event spaces.
