WHEN DID YOUR LOVE OF HORSES BEGIN? I have a lifelong love of working with and riding horses. I went to school at Morrisville State College to further my knowledge and education and earned a degree in Equestrian Science. WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO TEXAS AND CORDILLERA RANCH? I moved to Texas for the vast opportunities of working with and riding horses at the highest level. Most of the top trainers in the industry live in Texas. Through my network, I met Susie Phillips. Through Susie, the door to working at Cordillera opened, allowing me to pursue my dream of establishing my own training program under her guidance. Through this experience, I have been able to successfully match horses and riders. WHAT DO YOU FIND PROFESSIONALLY REWARDING? My most rewarding experiences must be watching my students realize their potential. This has been rewarding, not only for my beginner students, but also for my advanced riders. Witnessing the “aha” moment never gets old. I have also taken students to their first horse shows and have seen them perform successfully. WHAT ARE YOUR PROFESSIONAL GOALS? My ultimate professional goal is to win an American Quarter Horse Association Golden Globe at the World Show. Additionally, guiding my students to pursue their dreams and goals. TELL US ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL HORSES. I have three horses: My show horse is Platinum to a Tee. She is an exquisite gray quarter horse with unlimited potential. At four years old, this mare has already garnered awards at shows, and I expect to achieve many more awards riding her. I have two other horses who are solid training horses, Scout and Emma. Many children have learned basic riding horsemanship on them. AS A KID, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. Unfortunately, I could not quite handle the blood and guts of it. Plus, I found my true passion was in teaching and training horses. I am also a licensed cosmetologist.
