PRESIDENCIA
Estimados y estimadas El mundo de la cultura y de las artes atraviesa por un difícil momento. Así también, los festivales de cine han enfrentado complejos desafíos, luego de más de un año de pandemia. Por este motivo, quisimos mantener nuestro compromiso de acercar producciones de calidad a todos los territorios. Nuevamente SANFIC no se detiene, y se realizará por segunda vez en un formato completamente digital y gratuito. En sus 17 años de vida, SANFIC se ha caracterizado por ser un certamen que da tribuna a importantes figuras del mundo del cine, como Valeria Sarmiento y Graciela Borges en el año 2019, entre otras reconocidas directoras, directores, jurados, actrices y actores tanto nacionales como internacionales. Desde la creación del festival el objetivo ha estado en poder acercar y presentar en Chile producciones audiovisuales de calidad de todo el mundo, además de visibilizar y fomentar la industria cinematográfica nacional. En esta versión, se mantienen las tradicionales competencias del festival: Internacional, Cine Chileno y Cortometraje Talento Nacional; las cuales se han vuelto una ventana para promover las más recientes producciones de realizadores internacionales y nacionales. Seguimos por segundo año con la sección “Directoras en foco”, un espacio muy importante para visualizar el trabajo realizado por las mujeres cineastas alrededor del mundo. Además de las secciones: “Maestros del Cine”, en la cual este año contamos con renombrados directores como Naomi Kawase, Andrei Konchalovsky, Christian Petzold hasta Agniezka Holland, Denis Coté, Ryusuke Hamagushi, Oskar Roheler y Alexandre Rockwell. En paralelo, tendremos “Visiones del Mundo”, “Función Especial” y retomaremos la sección “Retrospectiva” con la presencia de la destacada directora argentina Ana Katz. Asimismo, nos entusiasma continuar con la sección SANFIC Educa, que está destinada para un público familiar y cuenta con una programación inclusiva con películas accesibles a personas con discapacidad cognitiva. Cada año nos desafiamos para que el festival siga creciendo y convocando a un público más amplio y diverso. Por eso nos esmeramos en seguir presentando destacadas producciones y actividades didácticas que permiten conversar con importantes figuras del mundo audiovisual, y que estarán disponibles para todas las regiones de nuestro país. Desde el comienzo de Fundación CorpArtes, como familia nos enfocamos a acercar lo mejor del arte a todo Chile, promoviendo el acceso de la mayor cantidad de personas a destacadas obras de teatro, exposiciones, conciertos y películas tanto nacionales como internacionales, que ofrecen una oportunidad única para adultos, jóvenes, y niños. Ahora más que nunca, la cultura y las artes cumplen un rol de acompañamiento, en medio de una pandemia y luego de un año de encierro que cambió el rumbo en muchos aspectos. Sabemos que son necesarias para conectarnos con otras personas, para dialogar y ver a través de otras miradas lo que está sucediendo en distintas partes del mundo. Éstas no solo nos ayudan a reflexionar, sino que también aportan a nuestra salud mental y al bienestar de todas y todos. Quisiera agradecer afectuosamente a todas aquellas personas que han hecho posible esta versión número 17. Asimismo, enfatizar su permanente compromiso y dedicación por entregar una programación de películas y actividades que nos permitan gozar, reflexionar y conectarnos con la riqueza que nos da el cine.

Dear all, The world of the arts and culture has been going through difficult times. Many film festivals have faced complex challenges, as well, after more than a year of the COVID pandemic. With this in mind, we wanted to maintain our commitment to bring quality productions to all regions. We are proud to announce that for another year in a row, SANFIC will be presented in digital format and completely free. In its 17 years since its creation, SANFIC has been characterized as an event that gives tribune to important figures of the film industry, such as Valeria Sarmiento and Graciela Borges in 2019, among other renowned directors, jurors, actresses, and actors, both national and international. In this version, we have maintained the traditional festival competitions: International, Chilean Cinema, and National Talent short films, which have become a window to promote the most recent productions of international and national filmmakers. We also continue for a second year with the section “Directors in the Spotlight”, a very important space that visualizes the work made by women filmmakers around the world. In the section “Masters of Cinema”, this year we have renowned directors such as Naomi Kawase, Andrei Konchalovsky, Christian Petzold, including Agnieska Holland, Denis Coté, Ryusuke Hamagushi, Oskar Roheler, and Alexander Rockwell. In parallel we will also have “Visions of the World”, “Special Feature” and we will resume the section “Retrospective” with the presence of the outstanding Argentine director Ana Katz. Additionally, we are excited to continue with SANFIC Educa, a section that is intended for a family audience and has an inclusive program with films accessible to people with cognitive disabilities. Every year we challenge ourselves so that the festival continues to grow and reach a wider and more diverse audience. That is why we strive each year to present outstanding productions and educational activities that allow conversations with important figures of the audiovisual world, and that will be available for all regions of our country. From the foundation of Fundación CorpArtes, as a family we have focused on bringing the best of the arts to all the country, promoting access to the greatest number of people to outstanding theater performances, exhibitions, concerts, and films both national and international, which offer a unique opportunity for adults, youths and children. Now more than ever, the arts and culture play an accompanying role during the COVID pandemic and after a year of confinement that changed the course of our lives in many aspects. We know that they are necessary to connect with other people, to talk and listen to other points of view of what is happening in different parts of the world. They not only help us to reflect but also contribute to our mental health and the well-being of every one. I would like to warmly thank all those who have made this 17th version possible. I would also like to emphasize their permanent commitment and dedication to deliver a program of films and activities that allow us to enjoy, reflect and connect with the richness that cinema grants us.

Estimados amigos y amigas, El último año y medio ha sido un tiempo en donde la pandemia del Covid-19 ha tenido un impacto nunca esperado en nuestras vidas en general, y en el mundo de las artes y las culturas en particular. Esto nos ha llevado a la necesidad de ir enfrentando a diario cambios nunca pensados en la manera de funcionar, de relacionarnos y de proyectarnos a un futuro que aun se nos presenta muy incierto. Como sociedad nos hemos visto enfrentados a nuevos desafíos ante la crisis sanitaria que se vive a nivel internacional desde 2020 y nuestro sector no se ha quedado ajeno. La suspensión y cancelación inicial de un sinfín de expresiones, iniciativas y actividades culturales, así como la realización de obras artísticas y festivales de cine nos puso ante la encrucijada de tener que modificar el formato de muchas de nuestras actividades, con el solo fin de seguir presentes en las vidas de las personas, sus familias y de la comunidad. Es por esto que, desde Fundación CorpArtes, quisimos, por segundo año consecutivo, mantener el formato digital de nuestro festival, el cual será absolutamente gratuito para reiterar nuestro compromiso de seguir acompañando a nuestros públicos de todo el territorio nacional y que puedan acceder a películas de excelencia, pese a la distancia física y a las restricciones que hoy en día seguimos viviendo vivimos. La tecnología en sus diferentes formas, es nuestra gran aliada para lograr nuestro objetivo, y así ampliar nuestro alcance llegando a los hogares de todas las regiones de Chile, continental e insular, buscando siempre ser un espacio de encuentro que permita la conexión entre todas las personas que vivan en Chile con las artes y las culturas, que se han vuelto piezas fundamentales en nuestras vidas y bienestar. Este año presentaremos más de 80 películas, incluyendo estrenos mundiales y nacionales, así como premieres latinoamericanas, algunas de las cuales se han exhibido en importantes festivales como Berlín, Guadalajara, Málaga, San Sebastián y Toronto. Estas producciones han sido seleccionadas para exhibir los diversos puntos de vista, modos de producción y temáticas que existen, además de conocer nuevos talentos nacionales e internacionales. De esta forma buscamos conectar a las personas de diversas comunidades con las propuestas de reconocidos cineastas de todo el mundo, para poder generar nuevos diálogos, espacios de reflexión y poner sobre la mesa distintas temáticas contingentes. A la vez, retomaremos la sección “Retrospectiva” de nuestro festival, la cual está dedicada a exhibir el trabajo de destacados y destacadas profesionales del cine, incluyendo algunas de las películas más importantes de su carrera. La figura de este año será Ana Katz, reconocida directora y actriz argentina de vasta trayectoria que la ha vuelto merecedora de diversos galardones a nivel internacional. De esta forma, buscamos visibilizar el trabajo de las mujeres en el cine y reconocer el talento que se ve reflejado en la excelencia de sus producciones. Otra sección que nos enorgullece presentar y que se ha convertido en una de las más relevantes de nuestro festival, es SANFIC Educa, a través de la cual buscamos promover el acceso a películas de calidad de todo el mundo para niños, niñas y jóvenes, junto a sus familias. Estas películas muchas veces no llegan a las salas de cine nacionales. Asimismo, nos permite llegar y acercar obras destacadas para aquellas personas que, muchas veces, tienen menor acceso a expresiones artísticas, entre ellos niños, niñas y jóvenes vulnerados de derechos, personas privadas de libertad y personas en situación de discapacidad. Este año estrenaremos en Chile 16 películas de todo el mundo en esta sección y trabajaremos en colaboración con instituciones como SENAME, Ciudad del Niño, Gendarmería de Chile y Fundación Integra, Fundación Mawen, entre muchas otras. Los invito a disfrutar de nuestra segunda edición digital de SANFIC, que con mucho dedicación hemos preparado para todos y cada uno de ustedes, con grandes películas de creadores y creadoras nacionales e internacionales que han sido premiadas alrededor del mundo.

Dear friends, The Covid-19 pandemic has had an unexpected impact on our lives and in the world of the arts and culture. This has led us to face changes never thought of in our daily life, our social relations, and projecting ourselves into a future that is still very uncertain. As a society, we have faced new challenges concerning the health and economic crisis experienced worldwide since 2020. Our sector has not been left out. The cancellation of most cultural expressions put us at the crossroads of reinventing the format of many of our activities. We maintained the digital form of our festival for the second consecutive year, which will be free to reiterate our commitment to continue accompanying our audience across the nation. Everyone would be able to access films of excellence, despite the physical distance and restrictions that we continue to live with today. Technology in its many different forms is our great ally to accomplish our goal and thus expand our reach by accessing the homes of all regions of Chile. We always seek connection among all people who live in Chile with the arts and culture, which have become fundamental pieces in our lives and well-being. This year we will present more than 80 films, including worldwide and national premieres, some of which have been exhibited at major festivals such as Berlin, Guadalajara, Málaga, San Sebastián, and Toronto. These productions have been selected to showcase the various points of view, production modes, and themes that exist and meet new national and international talents. We seek to connect with people of different backgrounds with films from all over the globe to generate new dialogues, spaces of reflection and put on the table the different contingent themes. At the same time, we will present the “Retrospective” section of our festival, dedicated to showcasing the most influential films of prominent filmmakers. This year’s figure will be Ana Katz, renowned director and Argentine actress with an extensive career that has made her worthy of various international awards. This way, we seek to make visible women’s work in the film industry and recognize their talent, which is reflected in the excellence of their productions. Another section that we are proud to present and has become one of the most relevant of our festival is SANFIC Educa. We seek to promote access to quality films worldwide for children and young people and their families. These films many times do not reach national cinemas. Likewise, it allows us to present outstanding work for those who have less access to artistic expressions. Among them, children and young people violated rights and people deprived of liberty, and people with disabilities. This year we will premiere in Chile 16 films from all over the world in this section. We will work in collaboration with institutions such as SENAME, Ciudad Del Niño, Gendarmería de Chile and Fundación Integra, Fundación Mauen, among many others. I welcome you to enjoy our second digital edition of SANFIC. We have prepared it for all of you with great dedication, with great films from national and international creators awarded globally.

Amigas y amigos: Estamos muy felices de poder celebrar con ustedes esta decimoséptima edición de SANFIC, Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine en formato digital nuevamente para todo Chile, gratuito en contexto de pandemia. Este año participarán como siempre destacados miembros de la industria mundial. Es el caso del reconocido actor y director germano-español Daniel Brühl, quien presentará en la sección “Función Especial” su primera película como director: “Nebenan”. El film estuvo compitiendo este año en Berlín y se presentará en SANFIC en calidad de estreno latinoamericano. Otra invitada destacada es la directora y actriz argentina Ana Katz a quien el festival le dedicará una completa retrospectiva de su cine. Además, formará parte del jurado de la competencia internacional. La programación tiene cerca de 90 títulos de unos 25 países dirigidos por cineastas con trayectoria y nuevos talentos. También contaremos con la participación de importantes invitados nacionales e internacionales como jurados, entre los que destacan el productor estadounidense Daniel Dreifuss; el reconocido actor chileno Gastón Salgado; la programadora cubana Elvira Rosell; la productora mexicana radicada en Paris, Lucero Garzón; el director chileno-español Theo Court; la destacada actriz nacional Giannina Fruttero, la programadora y agente de ventas Sanne Jehoul y el director ejecutivo colombiano Jaime E. Manrique, entre otros. En la Competencia Internacional participan 8 importantes películas de distintas regiones, mientras que en la de Cine Chileno se incluyen 9 recientes producciones y en la de cortometrajes 21 nuevos trabajos de jóvenes talentos chilenos. En la sección “Maestros del Cine” tenemos los trabajos más recientes de prestigiosos cineastas y exhibidas en los principales festivales del mundo. Aquí se incluyen desde Naomi Kawase, Andrei Konchalovsky, Christian Petzold hasta Agniezka Holland, Denis Coté, Ryusuke Hamagushi, Oskar Roheler y Alexandre Rockwell. La sección “Visiones del Mundo”, dividida en las subsecciones Documentales, Drama y Matices del Humor (Comedia), incluye importantes películas de países como Argentina, Alemania, Chile, Cuba, España, México y Perú. Acá participan largometrajes que muestran el panorama contemporáneo del cine con diversas temáticas y puntos de vista. La sección “Función Especial” incluye películas destacadas de reciente factura como “Stardust” “Especial” y “Vera de Verdad”. SANFIC 17 mantiene la sección “Directoras en Foco” dedicada a destacadas realizadoras del mundo. La sección SANFIC Educa sigue con contenido para niños, niñas, familias y adolescentes, con películas premiadas de distintos lugares del mundo. Por su parte SANFIC INDUSTRIA; espacio de formación y fomento, dirigido a profesionales y nuevas generaciones del audiovisual chileno e iberoamericano - que tuvo su versión 2020 en marzo recién pasado- cuenta con actividades tales como: WIP IBEROAMERICANO - SANTIAGO LAB (ficción y documental)- SANFIC NET: MESAS DE NEGOCIOS, SERIES Lab ficción, entre otros, prepara su décima versión híbrida para finales de año. Dear friends, We are very happy to be able to hold, along with you, this seventeenth edition of SANFIC, Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine, once again in digital format for the entire Chilean territory, and free of charge within the pandemic context. This year, as always, we will have the presence of renowned industry members from the entire world. This is the case of renowned German-Spanish actor and director Daniel Brühl, who will present, in the “Función Especial” section, his first movie as director: “Nebenan”. The film competed this year in Berlin and will be shown at SANFIC as its Latin American premiere. Another important guest is the Argentine director and actor Ana Katz, to whom the festival will dedicate a complete retrospective of her work. She will also be part of the jury for our international competition. Programming includes nearly 90 works from around 25 countries, directed by experienced filmmakers as well as new talents. We will also have the participation of important local and international guests as judges, among whom we can mention the American producer Daniel Dreifuss; the renowned Chilean actor Gastón Salgado, Cuban programmer Elvira Rosell, Mexican producer based in Paris Lucero Garzón, Chilean-Spanish director Theo Court, the celebrated Chilean actor Giannina Fruttero, programmer and sales agent Sanne Jehoul and Colombian executive director Jaime E. This section aims to show features depicting the contemporary panorama of film with diverse subject matters and points of view. The “Función Especial” section includes films of note that have been recently made, such as “Stardust”, “Especial” and “Vera de Verdad.” SANFIC 17 maintains the section “Directoras en Foco,” dedicated to important women filmmakers around the world. The SANFIC Educa section continues to showcase content for children, families and teenagers; with award-winning movies from different places around the globe. Meanwhile, SANFIC INDUSTRIA, a space for education and promotion aimed toward professionals and new generations in the Chilean and Iberian-American film industries – which just held its 2020 version in March this year – includes activities such as: IBERIAN-AMERICAN WIP – SANTIAGO LAB (fiction and documentary) – SANFIC NET: BUSINESS BOARDS – fiction SERIES Lab, among others. This will be the section’s tenth hybrid version and will take place at the end of this year. Finally, we once again wish to thank Storyboard Media’s staff and Fundación CorpArtes, for their valuable support in making this seventeenth version happen.

JURADO COMPETENCIA INTERNACIONAL INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION JURY Es actriz, guionista, directora y productora de cine y teatro. Filmó numerosos cortometrajes y largometrajes. Formó parte del jurado y presentó sus películas en prestigiosos festivales internacionales, recibiendo numerosos premios. Actuó en teatro, en sus propias películas y también en films de otros directores. Su último largometraje, fue estrenado el Festival de Sundance. Escribió y dirigió la serie “Terapia Alternativa” para Disney Fox y actualmente escribe una nueva serie para Amazon. She is an actor, screenwriter, director and producer for film and theater who has made numerous shorts and feature films. She has also been part of juries and presented her work at renowned international festivals, at which she has received several awards. She acted in theater, in her own films and also in movies by other directors. Her latest feature-length film premiered at the Sundance Festival. She wrote and directed the series “Terapia Alternativa” for Disney Fox and is currently writing a new show for Amazon.
ANA KATZ ARGENTINA
Actor chileno de Teatro, Cine y televisión. Destaca su participación en los montajes teatrales “Pompeya”, “Los pueblos te llaman: Nahuelpan Presidente”, y “Los cristianos”. En cine ha participado en los largometrajes: “Jesús”, “Camaleón”, “Perro Bomba”, “Algunas Bestias” y “Matar a Pinochet”. Destaca su participación en las series de Televisión financiadas por el CNTV : “El remplazante”, “Sitiados”, “Martin el hombre y la leyenda”, “Héroes Invisibles”, “Ines del Alma Mia” y “La Jauría”. En el año 2018 crea La Cámara Laboratorios de Actuación Cinematográfica, donde actualmente ejerce como profesor y director creativo. Chilean film, theatre, and television actor. He had an outstanding participation in the theatrical productions Pompeya, Los pueblos te llaman: “Nahuelpan Presidente” and “Los Cristianos”. In 2018 Gastón founded La Cámara a series of Cinematographic Acting Workshops, where he currently works as a teacher and creative director. Actualmente se encuentra en fase de postproducción de la adaptación de “Sin novedad en el frente occidental”, dirigida por Edward Berger y protagonizada por Daniel Brühl. Su última película, “Sergio”, protagonizada por Wagner Moura y Ana de Armas, y dirigida por Greg Barker, tuvo su estreno mundial en Sundance. He is currently in post-production on the adaptation of “All Quiet on the Western Front”, directed by Edward Berger and starring Daniel Brühl. His latest film, “Sergio”, starring Wagner Moura and Ana de Armas, and directed by Greg Barker, had its world premiere at Sundance. He debuted with the Oscar-nominated “No” and then produce “You’ll Never Be Alone”, “Orphans of El Dorado”, and “Guernica”. Licenciada en Historia del Arte en la Universidad de la Habana. Forma parte del equipo de programación del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano e integra el Comité de Selección y la Junta Directiva. Es creadora y fundadora del Centro de Medios Audiovisuales, el cual salvaguarda, conserva, digitaliza e informatiza una buena parte de las obras que se han presentado en el festival. Ha sido invitada a varios festivales de cine al rededor del mundo y, ha participado entre otros, en SANFIC Industria. Art History graduate from Universidad de la Habana. She is part of the programming team at Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, and a member of the Selecting Committee and the Board of Directors. She is the creator and founder of Centro de Medios Audiovisuales, which safeguards, preserves, digitalizes and computerizes several of the works that have been presented at the festival. She has been invited to many film festivals around the world, one of which has been SANFIC Industria.

Su cortometraje “El Espino” compite en el Festival de Cannes 2005. “Ocaso”, su primer largometraje, se estrena en el Festival de Rotterdam y en decenas de festivales. “Blanco en Blanco”, se estrena en el Festival de Venecia, ganando el León al Mejor director y el premio Fipresci, participa en más de 70 festivales, ganando entre ellos el Grand Prix de Cinelatino de Toulouse. Actualmente es docente invitado en Moscow School of New Cinema, Rusia. Tato (17), is an orphan adrift, a young lover of rap, who must find his place outside the violence of his city. As time goes by, Pablo witnesses the strangest things that take place there: abuse, missing persons, demon-like creatures used to frighten the children. Ni siquiera las 3.000 mil hectáreas de valioso territorio que viene a recibir como herencia de parte de su padre recién fallecido logran revertir el cansancio físico y mental que trae desde Europa. Kinderman deseará vender rápido y olvidar lo antes posible esta poco deseada travesía. Los sucesos, sin embargo, irán desintegrando lentamente ese deseo y empujarán al personaje a una encrucijada de vida y muerte, entre dos visiones de mundo abiertamente excluyentes.
The Swiss-Chilean citizen Carlos Kindermann has returned to the Araucania region in Chile after 47 years. He returns to his childhood land, from which he was torn away before his adolescence. Not even the 3,000 thousand hectares of valuable territory he comes to receive as an inheritance from his recently deceased father can reverse the physical and mental exhaustion he brings from Europe. Kindermann wants to sell quickly and forget as soon as possible this unwanted journey. Events however, slowly disintegrate this desire and push the character to a crossroads of life and death, between two openly excluding world views.

Four teenagers occupy an abandoned house, in a working-class neighborhood in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. They seek to build a shelter where they can escape from family abandonment, neighbor´s cruelty and the constant stalking by the police. In a seemingly desolate neighborhood, with factory sounds and rusty walls, the four teenagers are constantly observed by people around them. Inhabit narrates the transitory, the impossibility of building and creating a sense of belonging in a hostile place with a marginalizing environment.

In his final years, forgotten muralist Fernando Daza is in the process of creating a new work by the name “Solo el amor resucita.” While the artist paints, the limits between poetry, muralism and geography fade as we are taken on a trip from Chile’s north to its south. Time will the painter’s main issue: at 85 years old, his mind and his heart want to keep creating, but it is his body that will have the last word.

The real estate “boom” is making a lot of people rich in Lima. But Tato, a 50 year-old reckless man-child, has lost everything. A group of Cuban migrants use their mobile phones to record and transmit through social networks intimate moments of their passage through the jungle, gathering more than 100 hours of experiences. Immobilized in a makeshift camp by Cáritas in Panama City, the difficult passage through the Darien Jungle comes to life on their devices. In this migratory limbo, Cuban director Marcel Beltrán films the passing of the hours in the camp and gains access to this shocking archive.

Para ellos Jean-Michel se había suicidado, tras acumular angustias y problemas; cuanto más pregunta la voz en off, más se multiplican los interrogantes. Pero hay un detalle de la vida de Jean-Michel que lo conecta con Argentina: había sido empleado en una empresa telefónica hasta que una privatización lo dejó sin trabajo. El filme muestra las similitudes entre la Argentina de los 90´s y las de Francia 20 años después.
On July 2, 2008 at 5.30 pm, a 53-year-old man named Jean-Michel was hit by a train in Saint-Lyé, eastern France. It was not known if it had been a suicide or an accident. The director asks the inhabitants what they think of the tragedy. For them Jean-Michel had committed suicide, after accumulating anguish and problems; the more the voice-over asks, the more the questions multiply. But there is a detail in Jean-Michel’s life that connects him to Argentina: he had been an employee in a telephone company until a privatization put him out of work. The film shows the similarities between the Argentina of the 90’s and those of France 20 years later.

ANA KATZ Frente a la cámara y detrás de ella, Ana Katz es una de las voces más emblemáticas del cine joven argentino. Tiene la capacidad de cambiar fluidamente de posición, desde la actuación a la elaboración del guión a la dirección; y brilla al sumergirse en los desafíos que implica cambiar la perspectiva entre la creación de cine independiente y trabajar en un grande set de filmación. Graduada de la Universidad de Cine en Buenos Aires, Ana Katz empezó su carrera como directora con algunos cortometrajes, dando el paso a los largos en 2002 con “El juego de la silla, ganadora” en varios festivales de cine internacionales. En 2007 le siguió “Una novia errante”, presentada en la sección Un Certain Regard de Cannes. Luego vino “Los Marziano” (2011), seleccionada en San Sebastián; “Mi amiga del parque” (2015), ganadora en Sundance y Málaga; “Sueño Florianópolis” (2018), ganadora en Karlovy Vary y La Habana; y en 2020 “El perro que no calla”, premiada en Rotterdam y Seattle. Graduated from the Universidad de Cine in Buenos Aires, Ana Katz started her directing career with a few short films, moving on to feature film in 2002 with “El juego de la silla”, awarded in several international film festivals. 2007 follows “Una novia errante”, presented in Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. Then follows “Los Marziano” (2011), selected in San Sebastián, “Mi amiga del parque” (2015), awarded on Sundance and Malaga, “Sueño Florianópolis” (2018), awarded in Karlovy Vary and Havana and in 2020 El perro que no calla, awarded in Rotterdam and Seattle.
All her films emphasize real life emotions mixed with a healthy portion of dark humor. The universes of families, relationships and all the crisis evolving from those create a bound with the public, which experiences all kind of different connections. In short, Ana Katz creates an intimate cinematic playground that will provoke the viewer in unexpected ways.

Víctor Lujine has lived in Canada for several years and comes back to Argentina for the first time, sent by the company for which he works. He has one day for a stopover in Buenos Aires and so will be able to visit his family, with whom he has barely kept any contact. The Lujines, excited by his arrival, decide to recover lost time. They develop a non-stop series of family rituals in his honor and they offer him their love, contained by the long wait. Games, songs and food are the celebrations that overwhelm his brief stay. Después en la película de Ron Howard “Rush”, Brühl interpretó al piloto austriaco de Fórmula 1 Niki Lauda, ganando una nominación como Mejor Actor de Reparto en los Golden Globe Awards 2014. Películas como “The Fifth Estate ”y “ The First Avenger: Civil War ”siguieron. En el 2019 produjo y protagonizó “My Zoe” de Julie Delpy.
