La Florida locals give food parcels When the lockdown hit quick and hard at midnight on Friday 13th March it wiped out the livelihoods of thousands of people - and local communities here in the southern Costa Blanca were no exception. The overnight closure of bars and restaurants with little warning and certainly no time for preparation left many local residents with no income. One couple who found themselves in need was Fred and Mick Brome, Fred or Sparkle as he’s lovingly known, is a familiar face on Orihuela Costa working first at The Local and then moving with the owners to their new venture at Legends in Playa Flamenca Commercial Centre. Realising that the couple would have no income and had rapidly used any savings for food, friends rallied round and dropped food parcels on the doorstep. The kindness they received struck home and once the couple had stocked cupboards they decided to pass on the surplus to others in need and give back some of the kindness they had been shown. Fred explained: “La Florida has a neighbourhood facebook page called La Florida Friends which was set up by Linda Shepherd and so we used this to ask if people how we could spread the help and we had a huge, positive response. With Linda permission we tagged onto the neighbourhood page with our own called ‘La Florida Friends Food Bank’. We have to work within the lockdown restrictions and so last week we asked people to bring food to

Gama Supermarket in La Florida at 12noon. We chose that time to walk our dogs so we could collect the donations – and were overwhelmed at people’s generosity.” In less than a week the Food Bank has helped 18 families – which equates to 49 individuals - including English, Spanish and Russian nationalities and from the wider Orihuela Costa community, not just those in La Florida. The parcels are delivered within the restriction guidelines and dropped on doorsteps. Most of the people helped have been suggested by their friends but those in need can also get in touch directly through the facebook page. Pablo, owner of La Familia restaurant in La Florida, donated cases of pasta, flour, sugar, rice, coffee, tomato frito and a huge stock of carrier bags which the guys are quickly distributing. Fred said: “We had a family of two adults and four children who had just eggs left in the kitchen, no other food left at all and no money to get any. The look on their faces when we dropped the food parcel was the best sight ever.” Anyone who wishes to help can take food to Gama in La Florida at midday every day or get in touch through the face book page. Alternatively these contact points can be used to request help directly or for someone you know. Fred and Mick are keen to point out that the food bank does not take cash donations. However, they are able to advise on what food stuffs are needed and people can then buy the food

themselves and donate it. A list of what is needed is also updated daily on the Facebook page. For example, La Florida local Sheila Chinnock is currently auctioning one of her paintings on- line and has a shopping list from the food bank which she will buy with the money raised. Many of the families will need continued support each week and even though lockdown is easing it could take three or four months before people get payments or wages though and are able to catch up financially, so please get in touch with La Florida Friends Food Bank if you can help in any way.

New study highlights Liberty Seguros supports ‘brain health’ diet Doctors Without Borders

A new study claims that there is only one specific diet that will keep your brain healthy for years to come – the Mediterranean diet. Cognitive decline is ultimately inevitable, but as modern research has shown, it can be accelerated or delayed by a number of different factors and lifestyle choices. Disease, infection and exposure to neurotoxins are the primary factors in accelerating this decline while diet has a huge role in preventing and delaying brain decline. According to a new study published in the journal Alzheimer’s and Dementia, a diet rich with vegetables, fruits, legumes, fish, olive oil, and nuts dramatically reduces one’s risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases later in life. Scientists observed two groups of participants and found that “Closer Mediterranean diet adherence was associated with a lower risk of cognitive impairment but not slower decline in cognitive function.” Consistently, individuals who adhered the closest to the Mediterranean diet enjoyed the highest cognitive function throughout the observational study’s 10-

year window. Strict adherence to the Mediterranean diet was specifically defined as habitual consumption of whole fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, legumes, fish and olive oil, as well as reduced amounts of red meat and alcohol. Fish and vegetables appeared to have the biggest impact on outcomes. Routine fish intake was concurrently associated with higher rates of cognitive functioning and the lowest rate of decline over time. “Scientists aren’t sure why the Mediterranean diet might help the brain,” explains the National Institute of Aging (NIA) on its website. “This primarily plantbased diet has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, which may, in turn, reduce dementia risk. In contrast, the typical Western diet increases cardiovascular disease risk, possibly contributing to faster brain aging.” “In addition, this diet might increase specific nutrients that may protect the brain through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties,” the Institute concludes.

Liberty Seguros is committed to society and aware of the importance of the support from private companies to the organisations that are leading the management of the COVID-19 health emergency and its consequences. For that reason, the insurer has made various donations to entities operating in Spain, Portugal, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, where it carries out its business operations in Europe. Thus, it has donated €250,000 to the charity Doctors Without Borders, with the aim of supporting professionals who are responding in Europe to medical needs. generated by this pandemic, which has mainly hit Italy and Spain and affected 100 other countries throughout the world. “At Liberty, we want people feel safe. Therefore, as a socially responsible company, we believe that it is our obligation to make an effort to support the professionals who are working day by day to protect people and helping to stop this crisis. We also want to thank them for everything they are doing for our employees, clients, mediators and partners, for our families and for our society at large”, explains Tom McIlduff, CEO of Liberty in Europe. To this day, Doctors Without Borders in Spain has participated in the evaluation of the response in around 12 hospitals, collaborated in the

creation of 22 hospital extensions, which are allowing to decongest emergencies and intensive care rooms, and also facilitating the delivery of medical materials and logistical resources. In addition, with the aim of maximizing their response capacity and reaching the maximum number of health professionals, socio-health workers, cleaning personnel, structure managers and other professionals, Doctors Without Borders in Spain has developed some tools such as guides, protocols and audiovisual content, which are accessible on a specific website for professionals. This disease seriously affects the elderly. Thus, a large part of the efforts of Doctors Without Borders have focused on this vulnerable group and on supportingnursing homes. So far, more than 100 nursing homes in Spain have already been advised, and they continue to work to reach many more. In Portugal, Doctor Without Borders teams have started to visit nursing homes and supporting authorities and management teams to train staff and

In France and Belgium, Doctors Without Borders is focused on helping migrants and homeless people. Thus, its teams have been pulled out in some of the emergency shelters established to accommodate people living on the streets during the confinement and in other collective accommodation facilities, providing medical support, assessing health status and identify possible COVID 19 cases. They also attend general enquiriesclose to food distribution points, five days a week. In Spain, Liberty has made a donation of 50,000 euros to the Red Cross to help with sending medical supplies to medical professionals and hospital centres in the most affected regions, as well as delivering food and other basic necessities to those in need. In Ireland, donations have also been made to Pieta House and Alone. These charities reach protected characteristic groups that are at specific risk of social exclusion, such as the elderly and people with mental health disorders.

Schools plan to reopen in September

Education authorities have earmarked the 7th of September as the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. Officials revealed on Friday that term will begin on Monday September 7th and will draw to a close on Wednesday 23rd June 2021. The dates would apply to Infant, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Professional Training (FB) schools. The proposal will be presented by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport to teachers’ unions and, it is believed, includes the creation of a specific reinforcement plan for students in order that they can revise course material that has not been taught during the last term of this school year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The proposal, according to Education Ministry sources, also includes an allowance for some schools to start classes for students the second week of September, so that teachers have the first week to organize work dynamics for the arrival of students. According to the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport, Vicent Marzà, "We continue to work towards the

next school year to give certainty to the educational community." Adding, "with the school year calendar that is being proposed, we gain a few school days to be able to support learning next year" for which a "specific reinforcement plan adapted to the reality of our students will be created." It is thought that the 20-21 school year "will begin by revising that which during the last term of this course has not been covered," he added. It is anticipated that this week, the Ministry of Education will issue details such as the specific recovery plan and adaptation of the curriculum as well as key educational activities so that no student is left behind during the forthcoming school year, as well as the means by which assessments of the final term of the current school year will be carried out. The wide belief is that children will be marked using an average of their exam results for the first two terms of the school year as well taking into account their attitude, work, and willingness to submit work remotely during the final ‘homeschooling’ term.

Markets restart across the Vega Baja The weekend brought a pleasant surprise as some areas saw the reopening of their local municipal markets, albeit with some changes. Those that did open were selling food only and shopping had to be done alone and with social distancing measures to help prevent any further spread of the Covid-19 virus. After the Valencian Government recently announced that markets could open from 30th April, councillors, local police and market managers in San Fulgencio decided that the former weekly market in La Marina, held in Sector 8 next to Lidl and Iceland would re-start on Saturday 2nd May, as would the Market Place event on Thursday 7th May - but both with restrictions. According to organisers there will be one entrance and exit area from each market and every customer will be given hand sanitiser and gloves as they enter. Customers will not be allowed to touch any of the produce before purchasing and every stallholder will be wearing gloves. There will be 2.5m between each stall, and where there are two or more stallholders, they must also observe 2m of social distancing. Queuing customers will also need to observe 2m spacing. State of Emergency rules still apply, so no more than one person is allowed in a car and only one person will be allowed into the market . Markets in Bigastro and Rafal also reopened with Bigastro flea market

attracting a large number of shoppers at its opening. Rafal was the first municipality in the Vega Baja to resume street vending and showed what the new normal would be which included access controls to the area to avoid

crowds, police surveillance and widespread use of gloves, masks and disinfecting gels. It’s opening on Thursday saw dozens of locals buying fresh fruit and veg at the traditional marketplace.

Local businesses despair of new rules The two business associations in Orihuela Costa, OC Avanza and The Strip Business Association have issued this statement in response to the de-escalation plans announced by the Spanish government. “Phases 1 and 2 of the proposed de-escalation plan presented by President Pedro Sánchez this week is not practical, since most of the terraces of the bars and restaurants are very small, the "plan" as proposed will destroy 90 percent of companies related to tourism in Orihuela Costa. We urge the government, in relation to the bars and

restaurants of this tourist destination, to go directly to Phase 3 on 11th or 18th May. Some companies may choose not to reopen for a month or more until after flights from the UK and Ireland are restored to near normal levels. The confinement has left the companies and workers' livelihoods in Orihuela Costa in ruins with little or no financial help to date. Most businesses are still expected to pay the rent with no income. We ask the government to financially support companies and their workers so that they can feasibly

reopen.” Given the new announcement all businesses are currently assessing exactly how they can open and operate under the new rules of reduced capacity to accommodate social distancing and protective and preventative measures such as Perspex screens, temperature monitoring and regular disinfecting of kitchens and eating spaces. Experts believe that these measures, as opposed to being temporary, are more likely to become the new normal at least until a vaccine is generally available.

Being in isolation inside a property for so long, has left many people either loving or hating their current home. Not surprising at all really. After staring at four walls for over 40+ days, even the most beautiful of homes have their faults. As millions of people have been staying safe in their own homes, they’re now realizing what works in their property for their family’s needs, and what doesn’t. Most people are realizing they need outside space. Either a garden or larger balcony and if they don’t have that, then a roof solarium. Being able to step outside and take in fresh air has been a luxury for some, compared to others that have been cooped up inside for weeks on end. Positive comments have been on updated kitchens, as meals were having to be prepared at home. Properties with plenty of natural light has been a welcomed relief to people with hobbies of arts and crafts.

Negative comments have been the lack of space in their current home, outdated kitchens and not enough outside space. Maybe it’s a way of the future, but the question to ask yourself when you look at your future home is, “could I see myself quarantined here?” If you’re struggling in your own home, either because of the lack of space, or for financial reasons, but aren’t sure what the process is for selling a property in Spain, I will be holding an online webinar* presentation on Friday 8th May, 2020 at 12 noon. GBP / EUR UPDATE

GBP A busy week for sterling, with two upbeat stories in contrast to dismal UK economic data. It was firmer against all but the Northern Scandinavian crowns, and strengthened by an average of 0.3% against the other majors. PM Boris Johnson returned to work with investors hoping he would provide more leadership. After the birth of his son mid-week, he was back at the lectern to deliver the news that the rate of infection, R0, for Covid19 had fallen below the level of one, meaning the pandemic has passed its peak in Britain. Next week the government will release a series of papers outlining how they’ll be restarting the economy.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a new scheme in response to the slow take up of the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS). Aimed at small businesses, the new scheme will be 100% underwritten by the treasury. The microloans of up to £50k will be “simple, quick and easy.” Commercial banks have to take 20% of the risk with CBILS and cannot nod through loans without proper scrutiny that takes time, especially in light of the Covid-19 related loan loss provision already being forced upon banks. Overall the economic picture looks bleak, with the CBI’s Distributive Trades Survey noting a “historic slide in retail sales in a survey conducted between 27th March 2020 and 15th April. Two thirds of retailers said Covid-19 was having a significantly negative impact on domestic sale, with more than a third saying they had shut down UK activity completely. Crucially, 96% of retailers, nearly all, reported cash flow difficulties. Figures last Friday showed retail sales falling 5.1% in March, the biggest ever monthly fall. The 32.6%

jump in alcohol sales was of little consolation. EUR Weak economic data also haunted Europe, with the French services sector scoring 10.4 in last week’s provisional purchasing managers’ index measures for April. Two months ago the February reading was 52.5. French GDP fell 5.8% in the first quarter and Euroland as a whole contracted by 3.8%. Italian GDP shrank by 4.7% in Q1, a development which might have been a factor in the decision of Fitch to downgrade the country’s credit rating to BBB-, one level above “junk”. IFO’s three measures of German business confidence “plunged” and “crashed” as a result of “catastrophic” sentiment. Despite all the negative news, the euro was not unduly perturbed by any of those data releases, only a whisker behind sterling and picked up one and three quarter US cents as well. Last week the European Central Bank (ECB) decided to increase support for the Eurozone’s commercial banks. In extension to the long-term refinancing operations, and with new pandemic emergency longer-term refinancing operations (PELTROs), the ECB will pay qualifying banks to take loans as long as the pass the money onto worthy corporate borrowers. They stopped short of ramping up its asset purchase scheme, but did imply that it could be done, if necessary. Among the observations in the ECB statement was a projection from the bank’s own economists that “area gross domestic product could fall by between 5% and 12% this year”. What would have sounded far-fetched at the beginning of the year looks entirely credible in light of the statistics above.

AA Real Members’ Stories Throughout 2020, each month, the Costa Blanca People features a real life story from real people about what it is like to suffer from Alcholism, what they did to overcome their addiction with alcoholic, and how they lead their lives today on their road of recovery. What is AA? Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, it is self supporting through its members’ own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution, does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

An AA Member’s Story... I am a sixty-something year old lady, happily married with a lovely family. It wasn’t always like that. As a teenager and a young woman I had no problems with drinking and enjoyed that side of life. But in my late twenties and early thirties when my children were small I began to drink behind closed doors in the safety of

my own home. I didn’t drink every day, but it was what happened when I did. One day my husband came home and found me drunk. He laughed. That was the last time he ever laughed about it ....... from then on it progressed getting steadily worse, causing trouble at home. I always thought I could stop drinking whenever I wanted to, but I carried on drinking. Apart from indoors I drank socially with friends but always drinking to excess and always seemingly wanting more than they did. This caused a lot of trouble in my marriage as my husband drank but not very much. This went on for years, always getting worse. I started to get blackouts where I couldn’t remember what had happened the night before. I started to take days off work, pretending I was ill to get over the awful hangovers, and at work people remarked on my shaking hands which I tried to laugh off. But I secretly knew I had a problem. I tried and tried to stop drinking but sadly found I could not. I began to realise my drinking was costing me more than money. It was seriously affecting my physical health and my mental health too. I experienced bouts of depression and was treated by the doctors for it. By this time my children were young adults, still living at home and getting on with their own lives. My daughter hated me for my drinking, although my son was supportive. One day when I was off work,

supposedly unwell, he talked to me about it. We went through all the options of stopping or trying to control my drinking and when I said I couldn’t , he simply said ‘Then Mum, I think you are an alcoholic and you need help’. I was both amazed and grateful, hearing this from someone I loved so close to me. My husband never understood. The next day I rang Alcoholics Anonymous and I was told where there was a meeting in my local town. I went with much trepidation, but in the room I found people friendly, helpful and caring. I came away from that meeting with one new important aspect in my life: hope. They suggested I went to more meetings and I did. Right from the very first meeting I attended I didn’t find the need to drink. I soon started to feel better and my life improved enormously. I did what was suggested to me in AA and I found the solution to my recovery, knowing I need never drink again. I am now approaching twenty four years sobriety. I lead a wonderful happy life today and I’m on good terms with my children, particularly my daughter who I am close to. I am pleased to say my grandchildren have never seen me take a drink. Alcoholism doesn’t matter if you are a dustman or a managing director, if you have the problem. alcohol will ruin your life. Today I try to pass on my experience, strength and hope to people who have a drink problem, just as it was passed on to me. Margaret

Second wave of disease outbreak Over the past week, several nations, including Spain and US states have announced plans to start relaxing coronavirus restrictions. But there's a big risk to opening up too soon - as experts warn it could spark a second wave of coronavirus infections. If this second wave happens during winter it would be even more difficult as it would coincide

with flu season. A second wave of disease outbreak happened with the 1918 influenza pandemic, which killed more than 50 million people in total. That pandemic experienced three waves, and the second wave was more deadly than the first.

The second wave of the 1918 flu pandemic killed more than the initial outbreak

Many experts agree that a second wave of the coronavirus is inevitable. “This is an efficiently spreading human virus and it will not disappear without a vaccine,” said infectious disease expert Amesh A. Adalja, MD, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Centre for Health. The severity of a second wave depends on the success of protective and preventive measures, such as healthy hygiene habits and social distancing. These help reduce the threat of a second wave - but they need to be strictly enforced, along with rigorous testing to identify the “hot spots” in the country. Only then can cases be isolated and the best protective measures implemented to see a decrease. Without sustained social distancing enforcement and quality testing, the easing of restrictions - even with the best of intentions - will increase the risk of nonimmune people being exposed to infectious people.

Watching what is happening in other countries proves how virulent the new coronavirus is and can offer predictions for Spain. While China has been seemingly successful in controlling the outbreak in Hubei province, the epicenter of the original outbreak, they’ve had an increase in cases in the north. After reporting near-zero local transmissions over several weeks, a new batch of COVID-19 cases in the city of Harbin, at the border with Russia, has resulted in fresh lockdowns, reported the Financial Times. Singapore, too, has seen a sudden resurgence in coronavirus infections, despite being praised for its early control efforts. Although the disease has come back in cramped migrant worker dormitories, where hygiene practices and nutrition are poor, it shows just how quickly the disease can return where people are in close proximity.

It’s still too early to identify COVID-19 patterns, but countries can’t be kept on lockdown for prolonged periods of time due to the economic burden and also the psychological impact of staying at home, but most experts agree that residents need to strictly follow social distancing until herd immunity from COVID-19 via mass immunisation is achieved in a further six to 12 months. In the meantime experts believe that businesses should start sending their employees for medical tests frequently or do daily temperature tests and the government should do the same by taking care of public places. It’s crucial to continue frequent hand-washing, not touching your face, cleaning surfaces often, and using a mask and gloves to protect yourself when you’re in a public place. And, of course, follow social distancing guidelines.

EXPAT BRIEFINGS www.expatbriefings.com “Expert Financial Advice for Expats”

NOW ONLINE Orihuela City Council has reported that the entire Orihuela Local Police force has been mobilised to guarantee security measures and that people strictly comply with the state of alarm and the guidelines of mobility that have been implemented by the Government. Police headquarters suspended all leave for police officers under its charge from Friday, 1st May to ensure public controls could be intensified, morning, noon and night to ensure the new guidelines are not flouted in the city, the

districts or on the coast. In addition to ensuring that people stick to their allocated tie outside and are not gathering in groups or trying to use beaches and parks which remain closed, officers will also complete vehicle checks. Drivers will be asked for the documentation to verify their place of residence and the reasons why they are out of the house. This is to discourage unauthorised movements, especially people trying to relocate to a second residence. Police will be checking that

children are only accompanied by one adult and that dog walking is now done within the timeframe that is relevant for the owner to be talking time outside. Local athletes are also reminded that they need to train within the government stipulations, and this is another area officers will be checking for compliance. Police are appealing to the responsibility of locals and reminds people that we are only in Phase 0 of the de-escalation and that confinement has not ended with the introduction of daily walks.

Is it over?

She's ruining everything

My husband and I are in our mid 50’s. The children have left home and we just don’t have anything in common any more. I suppose we had always lived separate lives having our own interests, taking separate holidays, going out on girls / lads nights out every week etc. The only real interaction was with our children and we did take family holidays. Now they have gone there’s nothing between us and it's more apparent now we are in lockdown.

My 14 year old daughter is rude and nasty to my new man. Her Dad and I broke up and I quickly met someone else. My daughter says she wants to go and live with her Dad. I asked her father if he would have her but he said no, even though he is isolating by himself right now. I can’t see why she won't settle down and make the best of things with me and my new partner. You are not only asking your daughter to accept your new relationship but also she has lost her Dad, who does not want her either. I imagine she is feeling very rejected and has not even begun to deal with the break up of your marriage. You and your husband are overlooking your child’s needs. She is at an impressionable age and if you don’t deal with the situation properly you can expect more trouble down the road. Please all of you see a family counsellor when you can.

Leading separate lives within a marriage is a recipe for disaster. Children are a blessing but you can lose sight of yourselves and the relationship naturally is diluted, losing your identity as a couple if you’re not careful. Now the birds have flown the nest and you have nothing in common. Of course your marriage can be saved, but you will need to talk about how you both feel, or otherwise admit the marriage is over and decide to go your separate ways. WRITE TO SARA IN CONFIDENCE. BICYCLES ARE BACK With the entry into Phase 0, bicycles are seen again in the population. There are many parents who accompany their little ones to do sports or people who decide to launch themselves to do sports on a bicycle to alleviate this confinement.

Spanish economy sees biggest drop for a nearly century Spain’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell 5.2 percent in the first quarter of 2020 as a result of coronavirus confinement measures, according to an advance report released by the National Statistics Institute (INE). This is the largest quarterly drop in nearly a century. The last time such a figure was seen was after the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The biggest quarterly drop in recent times occurred in 2009, during the recession, when the Spanish economy fell 2.6 percent between January and March. The GDP is the best indicator to measure production in the country, and in turn, its wealth. In April, the Bank of Spain estimated that the coronavirus crisis would lead to a 4.7 percent fall in the first quarter. More alarm bells were sounded this week when the INE released figures on retail trade and active employment. According to the INE, retail trade fell by 15 percent in March – a monthly figure that usually falls or rises by a few tenths of a point. This blow occurred despite the fact that Spain had only been under the coronavirus lockdown for two weeks, and that January and February were good months for business.

The INE EPA active workforce survey shows that employment figures in Spain fell by 285,600 people between January and March – the greatest drop since the recession of 2012. The survey also found that the number of hours worked had fallen 4.25 percent in the first quarter. The figures from the second quarter are expected to be even worse. The outcome for the year will depend on the deescalation of the confinement measures.

According to the government’s plan, businesses will be able to gradually reopen under strict conditions. But there is still great uncertainty, and the Bank of Spain estimated in April that Spain’s GDP could fall by anywhere between 6.6 percent and 13.6 percent this year. This would be an unprecedented fall: during the recession, between 2008 and 2013, Spain’s GDP gave up 9.5 points.

Food and good habits How’s everyone doing in lockdown - we are moving into week 7 and for a lot of people settling into a routine has been easy, yet for others its extremely hard with no freedom and structure. This week we are going to talk about food and our relationship with food, as I know from many enquiries this is bothering a lot of people. In these uncertain times some of us are over indulging, treats, sweets, cooking, more homemade puddings and cakes. Comforting eating at the time feels great, but when the pounds start creeping on it doesn’t feel so good. Research shows that the average person will gain approximately 15/20 lbs in lockdown! This means, for a lot of women especially, our clothes will no longer fit! Keep a journal to show over the next few days what you are eating - include snacks, drinks and alcohol too. You will be surprised how much you are eating through boredom. After analysing your eating habits, make the changes you want to make. Because we are more sedentary at the moment it is quite easy to drop from 3 to 2 meals a day. We do

not need the additional meal as our body is not needing this for fuel. Try taking your 1st meal at 12 and your second between 5 and 6 pm. It takes 21 days for your body to change or break free from habit. This makes it possible to change your tastebuds reaction to sugar, alcohol levels, sugary drinks, cakes, pastries. Thereafter the changes can not only show on your waistline but also in your tastebuds too! Those 21 days can be very hard but persevere if you want to see and feel results.

all of your inner strengths to make these changes, there has never been a better time to feed your body nutritious foods, you have the time to learn to heal your body of any abuse with food issues, treat your gut with kindness and let it heal internally to help you through these

Another tip is to try intermittent fasting, which means you eat for 8 hours and give your body a break for 16 hours allowing it to digest properly, heal and repair. So for example if you no longer have anything to eat after 8 pm, your next meal would be at midday the following day giving you a 16 hour break. It takes a little practice but the health benefits are amazing internally.

times, by feeding your gut nutritious healthy foods, you are improving your kidney function, your liver and your lungs, strengthening your heart and improving your immune system which now more than ever in our lives is crucial to fight off disease.

You will have to dig deep and tap into

Be kind to yourself, you are the boss....

tell yourself that you can do this and take Action...Think...Act...Interact positively, this helps you to produce serotonin to help you feel better and more positive. Try to exercise - do two home classes a day, not just for your physical health, but also your mental health. Try a cardio one in a morning and a more relaxed yoga class or stretching exercises early evening. This will also help with your sleep pattern, also producing serotonin to help your mood balance and make your feel stronger and happier. Nobody is going to stop over with a delivery of a new body, but by making little changes to your lifestyle in lockdown, you can make such a difference. The most important thing is your mindset, if you change your mindset and you want to follow through these changes you will succeed. Try not to treat it as a diet, I personally don’t like diets. Just stay positive, make little changes, journal by writing each meal, snacks and drinks down as this is proven to help you see where you are going

wrong on weak days and put you back on track. But most of all embrace the changes you make with positivity and helping yourself achieve a healthier body. It sounds easy and it truly is with the right mindset. If anybody needs any help further with nutrition, call Changes on 608829558. Insurance Green Card will cease to be green

2,500€ they print a Boarding Pass. In view of this possibility, Ofesauto, as the responsible body, has developed a web platform to assist in the issuing of Green Cards, which will be fully operational as of April 1, 2021. This decision will mean significant cost savings, both financial and administrative, for all entities, since currently when they decide to issue a 'Green Card' they have to physically print the document in a certain format and colour, and physically send it by post. In addition, from the point of view of the management of claims occurred in those countries

where the 'Green Card' is necessary, and especially with regard to both foreign security forces and victims, Ofesauto will have a single centralregistry to consult in real time which entity has issued a certain 'Green Card'. With this step, "the Spanish insurance sector once again acts as an example of cohesion and common collaboration in the development of solutions that benefit not only all entities, but society as a whole and victims of accidents in particular." At the moment, nothing changes, as it will be from April 1 of next year when the use of platform is mandatory.

When an insured vehicle travels to certain countries, the owner is responsible for ensuring that a “green card” is issued by the insuring company, however, from next year, that document when issued in Spain will no longer be green. As leading ex-pat insurer Ibex Insurance explained, after many years of working on the proposal initiated by Ofesauto, the 'Consejo de OficinasNacionales' (in charge of regulating the format and structure of the Green Card for the 48 countries that form part of it), the association has allowed the document to be generated in a pdf format so that it can be sent by email and printed in black and white and in just one side of an A4 sheet of paper. This is just one step forward so that checks can be carried out internationally for any vehicle of any nationality digitally instead of physically. Right now, for countries that are not part of the European Union (the nearest to Spain would be Morocco), the paper document will still be necessary to confirm that a Spanish vehicle is insured. But at least, it will not be mandatory for the document to be printed in green any longer as there is no requirement that it must be printed by the insurance company. For example, the policyholder will be able to print the document the same way as
