Briton arrested in connection with fatal
A
British man was arrested at the weekend in connection to the tragic death of a 27 year old woman in Benidorm. The woman, believed to be Scottish, fell to her death from a tenth floor balcony early on Saturday morning. The death was initially treated as accidental but a man has now been arrested as, according to Benidorm police, “A precautionary measure”. Police are trying to piece together the woman’s last movements. It is believed she left the apartment she was sharing with friends at around 4am, possibly became disorientated and proceeded, barefoot, to the room above her own where five other Britons were staying. The arrested man is believed to be part of the group staying in the apartment above the girl but was not known to the
deceased. The British man was arrested on Saturday and spent the night in custody, being questioned by police in relation to the incident. Sources close to the inquiry confirmed the arrest was 'precautionary’ and there was no evidence pointing to the woman's death being the result of a crime. The 27-year-old woman had travelled to the popular Costa Blanca resort with a group of around 35 female friends to celebrate a hen party. A source in Benidorm told the press, “The man who has been arrested is the one who opened the door to her and was near her when the incident happened.” It is believed that he was taken in for questioning because his version of events didn't quite match that given by the four friends he was with. An insider said, “The version of events recounted by the man taken into custody didn't quite match that of the others but they admitted to drinking heavily and taking drugs that night and it just wasn't possible for the police to take a formal statement from this person because of the state he was in.
“Once that formal statement has been taken investigators will be in a position to
