A Woman’s World
Funny Women’s view on Christmas…
• "John asks his wife 'What do you want for Christmas, darling?' His wife replies, 'I don't know, surprise me.' John then waits till his wife has left the room, and when she re-enters he jumps out at her and screams "WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS, DARLING??'"... (Lucy Beaumont). • "Some shows simply can’t do Christmas specials because the content isn’t appropriate. You couldn’t have Christmas 'Embarrassing Bodies', could you? It wouldn’t work: “It smells of eggnog and I don’t know why”. (Sarah Millican). • "The one thing women don't want to find in their stockings on Christmas morning is their husband." (Joan Rivers). • Christmas is... “Middle-class women becoming ridiculously competitive over how well prepared they are: ‘I make my mincemeat in August.’ ‘Really? I’m too busy with the cake in August.’ ‘Oh! Ha ha. I made my cake in 1985. Fifteen years and it matures to perfection. Amazed you’ve never tried it.’ (Miranda Hart).
Is there a Dr in the house?
When a car skidded on wet road and struck a telephone pole, several bystanders ran over to help the driver. A woman was the first to reach the victim, but a man rushed in and pushed her aside. “Step aside, lady,” he barked. “I’ve taken a course in first-aid!” The woman watched for a few minutes, and then tapped him on the shoulder. “Pardon me,” she said. “But when you get to the part about calling a doctor, I'm right here.”

CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 2017... Rumour
has it there will be an ALL STAR celebrity line up heading to the famous house for a new series in the New Year. Who could be joining the show? Back in 2000 a little show called Big Brother launched. It turned out to be one of the most watched programmes of all time and has been recreated in countless countries around the world. So with the next series marking the 20th since the very beginning, show bosses are eager to create one of the most memorable series' of all time. As it's going to be a Celebrity Big Brother edition, reports are suggesting that there could be some familiar faces returning to cause chaos in the house once again. Recent CBB winner and Love Island star Stephen Bear, journalist Katie Hopkins, actor Les Dennis and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton are also all being tipped for a return to the house. Just those housemates alone would make for an amazing show, but there are a few more names who have been rumoured as potential housemates. Nick Bateman, who appeared on the first ever series of Big Brother, is reportedly being lined up to enter the house in 2017. He became one of the biggest talking points from the original series due to his rule breaking and deceitful tactics and earned the nickname 'Nasty Nick'. 2013 housemates Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag could be in for a return to the BB house too and their initial stint on the show was filled with controversy. They entered the house as one single housemate and became embroiled in a feud with eventual winner Rylan Clarke, but it seems they made good TV as they were eventually named runners up. Katie Price entered the house late in 2015 after a couple of housemates were ejected she eventually went on to win the series, beating Katie Hopkins to the title. Fans would love to see the CBB winner back in the house for an all-star special and she is one of the names being strongly rumoured for a return. Oooooo roll on January 2016 we can’t wait!

KANYE WEST ‘HOSPITALISED’ AFTER CANCELLING TOUR...
It’s been a nightmare few months for the Kardashian-West family. Kanye West was reportedly admitted to hospital last month after he dramatically cancelled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour. The rapper, 39, was apparently taken to UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles following a ‘disturbance call’, a police spokesperson told the BBC that it was later deemed a ‘medical incident’. This came hours after it was announced that the remainder of Kanye’s tour has been cancelled following some peculiar on-stage rants recently, though no reason was given for the cancellation. MEGAN & PETE ARE THEY ON THE ROCKS AGAIN? The TOWIE lovers continue to keep fans guessing. It’s been a rocky few months for Megan McKenna and Pete Wicks, but it looked like she was finally ready to forgive and forget after his sexting scandal… until now. After what seemed like an age, Megan seemed to let her guard down and ‘Pirate Pete’ and ‘Mad Megan’ were back together. But just a few weeks later Megan, 24, appears to have deleted all traces of 28-year-old Pete from her Instagram account and even UNFOLLOWED him on Twitter. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice Megan’s strange behaviour and have been questioning the reality star over the state of her relationship with Pete. Sorry but we really are a little confused, what is going on? SELLING UP IN CHESIRE... Real Housewives of Cheshire star Ampika Pickston has put her £2.8million mansion up for sale a year after she fell victim to an armed robbery in which her housekeeper was held at knifepoint. The 35-year old is selling up the home near Altrincham, Cheshire after her employee Lesley Khan was threatened with an axe, hammer and knife before the thieves escaped with a haul worth £70,000.

A Turkey’s Life...
When I was a young turkey, new to the coop, My big brother Mike took me out on the stoop, Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow...
and he told me there was something that I had to know; His look and his tone I will always remember, When he told me of the horrors of..... Black November; "Come about August, now listen to me, Each day you'll get six meals instead of just three, "And soon you'll be thick, where once you were thin, And you'll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin; "And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed, In'll burst the farmer's wife, and hack off your head; "Then she'll pluck out all your feathers so you're bald 'n pink, And scoop out all your insides and leave ya lyin' in the sink; "And then comes the worst part" he said not bluffing, "She'll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing". Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat, I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat, And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked, I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked; I began a new diet of nuts and granola, High-roughage salads, juice and diet cola; And Beef is as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes, I stayed in my room doing Better Jane Fonda tapes; I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half, And tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed; But 'twas I who was laughing, under my breath, As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death; And sure enough when Black November rolled around, I was the last turkey left in the entire compound; So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap; I haven't a worry, so I eat and I nap; She held me today, while sewing and humming, And smiled at me and said "Christmas is coming..."

Revamping
With Wall Decorations
When you want to revamp a room but not in the market to change all your furniture. Look at new pictures/paintings, clocks and mirrors for the walls, perhaps a few new scatter cushions or a rug to brighten things up. Perhaps a feature wall in Venetian plaster or wallpaper. It makes all the difference and completely changes the look of the room.
We at White design Company can help with all these. We can visit your property and look at the furnishings you have and work with you to select the new decorative pieces or feature walls. On occasion you can look at them in your property before you commit to them. Unusual items or select pieces that are quite new or daring may need to be seen in situ.
When the walls or decorative wall art is being revamped it is a good time to consider lighting and having it in the right places. From stylish picture lights to lighting a statement wall or something on the wall, you can really transform its ambience and show off the focal points.
December 2016 Costa Link Magazine.qxp_Editorial Layout 23/11/16 2:27 pm Page 19
With so many new designs and different styles available, when it comes to modern lighting it can be hard to know where to start. It can be used in multiple ways to change or to enhance the look and feel of a space. A perfect ambience would balance several light sources at different levels, Table lamps, up lighting, down lighting and general lights. Whenever you choose light sources for a room, you need to consider the purpose of the lamp, the size of the room, the mood you want to set and the look you want to create. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of light fixtures to create the perfect balance. Ask us about our vast range of lighting.
Until the next time,Dilys.

The dangers of life in the wilderness
Tom had been in business for 25 years and was finally sick of the stress. He quit his job and bought 50 acres of land in Alaska, as far from humanity as possible. He saw the postman once a week and got groceries once a month; otherwise it was total peace and quiet. After six months or so of almost total isolation, someone knocked on his door. He opened it and there stood a huge, bearded man. "Name's Lars, your neighbour from forty miles up the road... Having a Christmas party Friday night... Thought you might like to come... About five o'clock..." "Great," said Tom, "after six months out here I'm ready to meet some local folks. Thank you." As Lars was leaving, he “Name's stopped and said, "Gotta warn ya...There's gonna be some Lars, your serious drinkin'." neighbour”... "Not a problem," said Tom, "after 25 years in business, I can drink with the best of 'em." Again, as he started to leave, Lars stopped and said, "More'n' likely gonna be some bad fightin' too!" Tom said, "Well, I get along with people, I'll be alright. I'll be there. Thanks again." Once again Lars turned from the door, saying "More'n likely be some really wild sex, too." "Now that's really not a problem," said Tom, warming to the idea. "I've been all alone for six months! I'll definitely be there. By the way, what should I wear?" Lars stopped in the door again and said: "Whatever you want. Just gonna be the two of us."

2017
Well 2016 is shaping up to be a record-breaking year at the box office, we have had lost of sequels, true stories, and even a talking sausage (sausage party the movie). Yet the movie-makers have a mammoth amount in store for an even bigger year in 2017. But looking at what’s coming in the following year it is going to become extremely difficult to pick the cream of the crop but still, we will try our best…. Here are the Costa Link’s top tips for 2017!
La La Land
50 Shades Darker T2Trainspotting
Lego Batman Movie 24
The dream on-screen pairing that is Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling returns in January for a film that looks set to press all the Oscar buttons. It’s a long time since Hollywood has produced an original on-screen musical and this one, set in Los Angeles and directed and written by Whiplash‘s Damien Chazelle, has been praised as charming, sweet and without a single false note. Also it features John Legend in his first big acting role....! Release Date: January 2017. Having to find a new writer following Kelly Marcel's departure, it looks like Fifty Shades Darker is on track for a 2017 release date. Stepping in for Marcel is E.L. James' husband, Niall Leonard. Fans might have to wait a little longer than they’d like to see the continuing adventures of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, but if the fan base is as passionate for the sequel as they were for the first installment, we’re sure they’ll have no problem waiting. It’s the Christian (Grey) thing to do, after all. Release Date: February 2017.
21 years after his big debut Trainspotting first arrived in cinemas, director Danny Boyle is back for a sequel with the original cast in tow: Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). The film will be set 20 years after the events of the original movie. Best watch the cult original now as a warm-up. Release Date: February 2017.
The Lego Batman Movie promises to be one of 2017’s best animated films. Everything was definitely NOT awesome when The Lego Movie, a film both technically brilliant as well as stomach-hurtingly funny, was overlooked at the 2015 Oscars despite box office success and wide critical praise. Now one of the film’s best-loved cameos, Lego Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) is returning for a spin-off of his own. Batman movies aren’t known for their high LOLZ, but this is set to change that. Release Date: February 2017.

Beauty and the Beast Dunkirk KINGSMAN Barbie The Movie weightless
Star Wars Episode VIII
The feature film answer to Disney’s Tale As Old As Time has been gradually building buzz with early images of Emma Watson as Belle and a few on-set selfies from the cast (which features Luke Evans as Gaston and Ewan McGregor as Lumière). The wait will be over in March this year when the story hits the big screen. This is going to be a trip down nostalgia lane for those of you who grew up singing along to the cartoon version. Release Date: March 2017. In the hands of the wrong director a cinematic adaptation of the battle and mass evacuation of soldiers at Dunkirk could easily turn into just another war film, but with The Dark Knight and Interstellar’s Christopher Nolan at the helm – and some promising early clips – there’s every sign that Dunkirk will be an intelligent portrayal of one of the most famous battles of World War II. We’re also more than a little curious to see how Harry Styles shapes up in his first big screen outing. Release Date: Summer 2017.
If you missed the first of writer Jane Goldman and director Matthew Vaughn’s gloriously funny Kingsman movies, then do rectify that as soon as you can. The second installment from the duo behind Kick-Ass arrives in June with Kingsman and The Golden Circle, bringing back Taron Egerton and Colin Firth with a very glitzy new set of co-stars including Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Channing Tatum. We can’t wait. Release Date: June 2017.
Barbie is set to return to the big screen in her very own movie. The story centers on Barbara Millicent Roberts, who dates a young man named Ken, and her friends. The Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody has been enlisted to pen the script for 2017’s new Barbie movie, which suggests our leading lady will be far more than a bland automaton. We can’t wait to see the results. Release Date: Summer 2017. For most Hollywood actors getting the chance to work with director Terrence Malick is the career Holy Grail. Little wonder, then, that the cast of his new film Weightless, about a set of intersecting love triangles in Austin (Texas), is as star-packed as it gets: Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Benicio Del Toro and The Girl on the Train‘s Haley Bennett all feature. Given Malick’s track record, the film will be an instant highbrow hit. Release Date: Late 2017.
The return of Star Wars under J.J Abrams in 2015 was one of events of the decade. The film not only brought back some old legends in Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, but it also made overnight stars of British newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. Confusingly there’s an extra prequel (Rogue One) starring Felicity Jones the continued adventures of Rey and Finn are scheduled for Christmas next year. Release Date: December 2017.

When it comes to buying gifts you fall into one of only two categories. You’re either one of those people that claims to “just love buying for other people” and who has somehow managed to turn the act into an art form. Or you are the sort who breaks into a cold sweat at the very thought of gift shopping the stress, the pressure… it’s all just too, too much. But regardless of which camp you fall into, there is no sure-fire way to ensure your gift is going to be a hit. In fact, the impact of your choice of gift could have repercussions above and beyond a quivering lip or a sullen face. That’s right, your gift actually speaks. And volumes. Your gift has the power to communicate how much you care for your partner, how much you listen and how much they mean to you. So no pressure at all then? Sidestep the minefield, read and take heed of our absolute no-no’s to get you off on the right foot.
At all costs you need to avoid… • Giving anything that implies a flaw Diet books, self-help books, gym membership, anti-ageing creams, all to be avoided at all costs. You might as well save the cash and just tell them they’re fat or flawed in some way. • Anything practical or housework related - A hoover, a set of saucepans… no, no and thrice no. Giving a gift is an opportunity to buy someone something they wouldn’t normally buy for themselves, so give the practical gifts a swerve and think ‘indulgence’. • Clothes… A fine line is to be trodden here and some may even argue it’s a perfectly OK gift to buy, but if you are one of those people, then proceed at your peril. Continued on page 30.

The nightmare before Christmas... Continued!
We’re all adults, we all know what we like, that’s why we choose our own clothes and have done since we were 12 or 13. If we wanted dressing we’d get a stylist. If you must, try and make good with vouchers for their favourite store but please, no actual clothes. • Cheap tat If you’re trying to say “I care more about my bank balance than I care about you” then go right ahead here. However, if you actually like your other half, you’re going to need to dig a little deeper. That doesn’t mean that a good gift is necessarily one you lavish cash on, but no one likes a miser and it’s never more apparent than when giving a gift. Avoid the bargain bucket and think about what it is that will make them smile, not your bank manager. • No gift at all. ”I forgot” is just never going to cut it. If you care then you would know the important dates - birthdays, anniversaries… there are no excuses here. If you’re time poor then get online. If you’re just thoughtless then be prepared to pay the price. A gift that’s more about you than them Tickets to see... your favourite band, a book… you want, clothes… you like. Buying a gift is all about the other person; it has nothing to do with you. Be selfless in the act of gift shopping and hold yourself back. It can be your turn next payday. • A ‘virtual gift’ A star named after you, chickens for a village in Africa, a donation in your name. OK, so some of them may appear to be nice, thoughtful, even selfless gestures, but aren’t they really just a little bit smug, and really… can I wear it, can I touch it? No, so where’s my actual gift then?! Get real, unless it’s a holiday think tangible, think paper-ripping and beaming smiles - now that’s a gift.

FUNDRAISING APPEAL for local photographer
David Toms Friends of well-known Marbella photographer, David Toms, have launched a Support Fund to help finance his rehabilitation and long term goals following a tragic traffic accident. More than just a highly talented photographer, David Toms is a person who has touched a great many people’s lives, from the brides whose special moments he captured to his clients, colleagues and a wide circle of friends here on the Costa del Sol and abroad - and they are rallying around him in support of the person who added colour and humanity to their lives. David is on the long road of physical recuperation but the freak accident has left him with severe injury to the C3, C4 and C5 vertebrae of the spine, as well as broken bones and major neurological damage to the body. As is often the case with spinal injuries, it is hard to know at this point how much movement and independence David will regain, but he is quadriplegic and will need long-term care and rehabilitation. We must remain hopeful for the future as miracles do happen and modern medicine is making great advances, but for the moment the reality is that David will need ongoing care for a long time to come, as well as a specially adapted home, and for this he needs the support of us, his friends and colleagues in Marbella.

Medical Mayhem Going to the Hypnotist...
A woman comes home and tells her husband, "Remember those headaches I've been having all these years? Well, they're gone." "No more headaches?" the husband asks, "What happened?" His wife replies, "Margie referred me to a hypnotist. He told me to stand in front of a mirror, stare at myself and repeat... ‘I do not have a headache; I do not have a headache, I do not have a headache.' It worked! The headaches are all gone." "Well, that is wonderful," replies the husband. His wife then says, "You know, you haven't been exactly a ball of fire in the bedroom these last few years. Why don't you go see the hypnotist and see if he can do anything for that?" The husband agrees to try it. Following his appointment, the husband comes home, rips off his clothes, picks up his wife and carries her into the bedroom. He puts her on the bed and says, "Don't move, I'll be right back." He goes into the bathroom and comes back a few minutes later and jumps into bed and makes passionate love to his wife like never before. His wife says, "Boy, that was wonderful!" The husband says, "Don't move! I will be right back." He goes back into the bathroom, comes back and round two was even better than the first time. The wife sits up and her head is spinning. Her husband again says, "Don't move, I'll be right back." With that, he goes back in the bathroom. This time, his wife quietly follows him and there, in the bathroom, she sees him standing at the mirror and saying, “She's not my wife. She's not my wife. She's not my wife!" His funeral service will be held on Saturday.

HANGOVER CURES...
It’s that time of year when we all get a little merry and maybe have a bit more Christmas cheer than is good for us! If you have overdone it at the Christmas do here a few hangover facts and cures…. Splitting headaches, sickness, dizziness, dehydration: anyone who's ever drunk too much knows the consequences of it.
BEFORE THE BIG NIGHT... LINE YOUR STOMACH: You’ve probably heard people waffling on about how dangerous it is to go out on an empty stomach, well turns out there’s truth to that. If you eat a greasy meal before you go out the fat will help to line the walls of your stomach, which slows down the rate of alcohol absorption (note, this just slows down) which means you’ll be less likely to wake up with a splitting headache. Drinking a full glass of milk will also have the same effect. DRINK LOADS OF WATER: Drinking alcohol blocks the creation of a chemical called vasopressin. This means that your kidneys will send water straight to the bladder instead of absorbing into the body and is the reason you need so many damn toilet trips once you ‘break the seal’. Drinking booze can expel up to four times as much water, which can lead to you getting dehydrated, the main cause of those dreaded hangover headaches and dry mouths.
KEEP IT LIGHT: As you’ve probably already figured from trial and error, different types of alcohol produce different types of hangover. This is down to the congeners in the drink, something which is produced when the alcohol is fermented. As a rule, there are more congeners in darker drinks such as red wine, whiskey or navy rum. White wine, vodka and gin on the other hand contain much less, so are a much better idea. DON’T OVERDO IT ON THE DANCE MOVES: Now we love a good dance but don’t overdo it or you will feel worse in the morning. You’ll end up getting even more dehydrated and depleting your energy levels even faster. No need a to be a party pooper though, just make sure you don’t go too wild. PACE YOURSELF: Most health organisations think that guys should not drink more that 3-4 units of booze a day, or 2-3 if you’re a girl. To put this in perspective a small glass of wine is about 1.5 units and a beer somewhere between 2 and 3. It also takes your body around 1 hour to break down 1 unit of alcohol.
AFTER THE BIG NIGHT...
PAINKILLERS: Your first thought will probably be to reach for some painkillers, and it’s not a bad shout as they will help with your headache – just make sure to pick the right ones. Aspirin will do the trick, but it can wreak havoc if you’ve got a sensitive stomach and leave you feeling sick and worse than you were before. Much safer to just stick to the ibuprofen, but only the recommended dose. Extra tip: If you can manage it get up at around 7am, drink loads of water, take an Ibuprofen and then go back to sleep. You’ll wake up healed (kind of)! DRINK MORE WATER: Yeah, we know, this one is getting a bit repetitive now. But seriously, you need to make up for all that water you lost last night. If you do manage to drag yourself out of bed the make sure to take a bottle with you on your travels. EAT SENSIBLY: Eating, even if it seems like the worst idea in the world, is really important for getting you on 48
the road to recovery. You can’t eat just anything, but there are a few options. Depending on how bad you feel, eggs or a fry up are a great option as they help replace fatty acids and break down the alcohol in your liver. If you’re feeling super delicate eating some banana or potatoes in the morning will also help. DON’T START DRINKING AGAIN: Hair of the dog? Forget it! Drinking more might ease your pain for a few hours but it will only make the crash even worse when you get to it. It’s also a slippery slope to constant drinking, which is by no means healthy or desirable. SLEEP IT OFF: One of the other side effects of drinking is the disruption of your sleep cycle, which is one of the reasons you still feel a bit pants even if you did get a decent amount of sleep. Combat this the only way you know how and just sleep some more. If you’re not going to be productive anyway, you might as well focus on getting right as rain.

DO YOU HAVE ECZEMA?
Here are the 5 top tips to manage your flare-ups. The itching and burning of eczema can be excruciating. Some have had it all their life - a fifth of children develop eczema, usually before their first birthday. For others, it comes on suddenly later on in life. Either way, understanding how to control flare-ups is difficult. With eczema, your skin cannot produce enough essential oils to form and maintain its natural protective barrier. 1) KNOW YOUR TRIGGERS
Atopic eczema often runs in families and develops alongside other conditions such as asthma and hay fever. However, there are often other triggers which can be controlled or managed. The triggers for flare-ups can be different for each person, but there are a few that are most common: INFECTIONS: Eczema is a vicious cycle once the skin is broken and vulnerable to attack by bacteria. When a person with eczema scratches, this only causes further skin damage. ALLERGIES: A lot of people think that food allergies cause their eczema, but this is uncommon. Allergies to things that your skin comes into contact with are more common and this may trigger a flare. AGGRAVATED SKIN: So much of what people use on their skin today is unnatural, and the skin hasn't evolved to protect itself against them. Regular use of detergents can damage the skin's natural barrier catastrophically. EMOTIONAL STRESS: There is a definite connection between stress and eczema flare-ups, which can be another vicious cycle as having a bad flare-up can be incredibly distressing.
2) DO NOT MISS A CHECK UP
Your local pharmacy team will have a good understanding of eczema symptoms and the range of treatment options. Regular check-ups with the pharmacy team as well as your Doctor can therefore help manage the condition more effectively. It's also important to know your own skin and what works for you.
3) READ UP ON THE PRODUCTS OUT THERE
Emollients are applied directly to the skin to reduce water loss and cover it with a protective film. Ideally you should look for emollient that are free from sensitisers, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), parabens and fragrances which may result in skin irritation and can increase the chance of flare ups. If you do have a flare-up, it's usually 50
important to treat it early and vigorously with a topical steroid and continue to use that throughout the flare up and afterwards to make sure the skin is completely healed. Accept the fact that if you apply a cream or ointment to broken skin, it may sting, but it should heal it. Emollient creams should be used in appropriate quantities; NICE estimates 250g per child, per week and up to 500g per adult, per week.
4) PREVENTION IS AS IMPORTANT AS TREATMENT
Although it is important to treat the symptoms of eczema, it is equally important to take measures to reduce them. Some experts recommend using your emollient all the time, even if you are not experiencing symptoms. To make sure your skins natural barrier is never broken, the protective layer must be maintained. Using emollients routinely will help this, particularly after washing, when your skin will be most hydrated, emollients can help you lock the moisture in. Experts recommend finding an emollient you like and are comfortable with and use it at least daily. Even when you are over a flare-up, your skin is still sensitive, so routine treatment is extremely important.
5) DON'T IGNORE THE SIGNS
It's important not to ignore eczema because the itchy, red, dry and cracked skin may be a sign that the skin's natural protective barrier is damaged. Of all itchy skin conditions – eczema is one of the itchiest. Having a flare can be incredibly uncomfortable, disturbing sleep and concentration, which can result in work or school absence. A flare-up sets off a vicious cycle in your skin. The skin barrier is broken, leaving your skin vulnerable to bacteria, irritants and potential allergens, which can pave the way for infections and inflammation. Exposure to these proteins through the skin can even lead to someone who is prone to eczema developing allergies.

AFTER ‘DIESELGATE’
After “Dieselgate” VW announced they are to re-invent themselves and become the World leaders in electric cars within the next eight years but they are going to have some stiff competition… Volkswagen reckons the I.D. will be able to manage a respectable 250 to 375 miles on a charge with its 125kW motor and batteries. The whole car is built around the battery placement, part of VW’s Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform, meaning there should be lots more room inside.
The Mercedes Generation EQ is planned to go into production in 2019. With a hefty 310-mile range, which is partly thanks to aerodynamic-improving features such as concealed wipers and cameras instead of side mirrors and also remote doors that open remotely and therefore don’t need, handles.
Toyota expects their FCV to make production in around 15 years, using compressed hydrogen as its fuel source. Each wheel has its own motor and when the car isn't in use for transport, it can be used as a generator to make electricity for the driver's home.
Last month Tesla announced their third car in the model range will go on sale next year. The Model 3 will be the smallest in their range to compete with the BMW 3 series or Audi A4 and prices will start at about 30.000€. So far 373.000 people have put a deposit down and the waiting list is already well into 2018.

The Beautiful Jaguar I-Pace has learnt a lot from Jaguar’s own Formula E team. It will hit the showrooms in mid 2018 and have two electric motors producing 394 horsepower and 0-100kmh in four seconds. With no drive chain there is more room inside than larger SUVs.

1) Line a 1.2-litre pudding bowl with a double layer of cling film, leaving plenty overhanging, and make a space for the bowl in the freezer. Put the biscuits in a food processor and blitz until they resemble fine crumbs. Add the butter and 2 •250g digestive biscuits tbsp caramel, and blend until well mixed. Save about 3 tbsp for the top and tip the rest into the lined pudding •50g butter, melted bowl. Use the back of a spoon to press evenly over the base and up the sides of the •200g dulce de leche or bowl. Freeze for 30 mins. 2) Remove the chocolate ice cream from the freezer and allow it to soften at room temperature for 10 mins. Remove the pudding bowl from the freezer too (the biscuits Carnation caramel should be firm by now.) Spoon the ice cream into the biscuit- lined bowl, packing it into the base. •200g chocolate ice Spoon over the remaining caramel, spreading it to the biscuit walls. Return to the freezer for 30 mins. 3) Remove the caramel ice cream and allow it to soften for 10 mins. Meanwhile, tip 75g cream (not soft-serve) into a bowl and lighty crush with the end of a rolling pin, leaving some chunky bits. Add •300g caramel or vanilla Maltesers the ice cream to the bowl and stir through the Malteser pieces – work quickly so the ice cream ice cream (not soft-serve) doesn’t melt too much. Remove the pudding bowl from the freezer and tip in the Malteser ice •4 x 121g bags Maltesers cream, spreading it to completely fill the bowl, then level the top. Scatter with the remaining biscuit crumbs. Return to the freezer for at least 4 hrs (or for up to 2 weeks). 4) Put the cream in a pan •150ml double cream and heat until steaming hot but not boiling. Put the chocolate in a large bowl and pour over the •200g bar dark chocolate, cream. Leave to stand for 1-2 mins, then stir to make a smooth ganache. Set aside to cool until the sauce thickens to a spreadable consistency (you can speed this up by putting it in the fridge, finely chopped but remember to stir it every 5-10 mins or it will set around the edges). 5) Remove the pudding bowl from the freezer. Turn it onto a plate and remove the bowl and cling film. Spread half the To serve chocolate ganache all over the pudding and, as quickly as you can, stick the remaining Maltesers •Holly, to decorate all over the surface – this is easiest if you start around the bottom and work your way up in layers. The chocolate ganache will start to set, so use a little more from the bowl to make the Maltesers •Icing sugar, to serve stick. Once covered, return to the freezer for at least a further 4 hrs (or for up to 3 days), removing it 10 mins before serving. Top with a dusting of icing sugar and a sprig of holly, if you like.

FINANCIAL NEWS The Euro & World Round Up
It’s almost like Tales of the Unexpected, now Mr Trump has been elected President in waiting. The Euro certainly felt the pressure as the Trump victory has thrown into doubt the TTIP with further trade deals likely to be put on hold between the US and EU. With markets expecting further stimulus from the ECB during midNovember we saw the Euro significantly weaken against the US Dollar and Pound. The focus is now on Mr Draghi the President of the European Central Bank, a man who has financial markets now listening keenly whenever he is near a microphone. Between now and March he has a decision to make as to whether he should extend quantitative easing in the Eurozone beyond its current March 2017 deadline. Until then, his speeches have a greater impact on buying and selling Euro rates than normal. We did however get the first hint that the ECB’s assistance may not be tapered off in March but continue at a supportive rate, news that will try to prop up the lack of confidence across the Eurozone with the threats being posed by elections due in France, Germany and Italy particularly with Marine Le Pen posting huge leads in the latest French election polls. Perhaps another tale of the unexpected!!!!Recently Eurozone inflation figures slipped 0.2% from the previous month, which was point of a percent lower than analysts had anticipated, undoing recent progress that the Eurozone was seen to be making. Earlier on this year, inflation in the Eurozone had started to
60
rise, with analysts starting to believe that Mario Draghi’s stimulus package, which includes pumping money into the economy, purchasing assets from the government and charging banks to deposit large sums of money overnight had started to pay off, so a surprise for all. Who wants to try and understand this?News from the UK las month was centered around the governments Autumn statement and if the found the £100billion black hole and if so what impact that had upon exchange rates. Recently analysts were surprised as information showed UK Spending jumped to a 14-year high so it is clear consumers kept spending, and aided by a drop in the temperature meant that clothing sales rocketed. This has defied expectations that Brexit would lower consumer confidence and is surprisingly in contrast with beliefs that the UK will be permanently worse off as a result of leaving the EU. Exchange rates have not known what to make of the events although the pound has been a winner. From the 22 October until 22 November 2016 the pound against the euro has been as low as 1.105 and as high as 1.177 so to make the most of your international money transfer talk to our preferred currency broker who will be able to provide guidance and provide you with access to the best exchange rates around. Finally may we wish all readers a Merry Christmas and A Very Happy and Prosperous New Year. If you want to find out more please contact stephen@costalinkmagazine.com.

A look at what's in store for you during December 2016...
Capricorn
Capricorn, during the first week of this month, you’re still bathed in Venuses rays. You’re hot, you’re attractive, and you’re lucky in love and enjoying harmony as a couple. On December 7th 2016, Venus leaves Capricorn and so you enter a term that’s rather boring. Your love life, attractions and preferences heed to the voice of reason and benefits. You simply have priorities of a much too practical nature in order to feel like romance anymore. This month also sees financial interest and negotiations come to the fore. You may have to analyze the efficiency of work or re-evaluate your professional goals. You can benefit from some opportunities that generate income or through some financial perks, but money has a very rapid dynamic expenses are pretty big so there’s not much saving up.
Aquarius
Aquarius, passion! For the most part this month, Venus is in your skies and emotions are strong romance is stimulated, the need for love is huge, and your power of attraction is...immense! If you’re in a passionate relationship or if a new love comes your way, be careful not to get burned: Mercury is in retrograde cycle. Until the Holidays you’re very agitated intense activity is taking its toll you feel the need to take the bull by its horns, to test yourself or fight for achieving your purpose on the work front. December promises to be productive financially, particularly if your pursuits have to do with strangers or new projects. Throughout this month you’re full of energy and have excellent morale. But you might have temper tantrums, or at times be careless or rushed, and thus ruin things for yourself.
Pisces
Aries
Taurus
Gemini 66
Pisces, with Venus in your sign, December 2016 isn’t the happiest month for your love life. You might feel estranged or disappointed, disillusioned. If you’re in a committed relationship, there might be some discussions regarding a joint project or plans for the future. Your professional life receives an impulse from the Sun in your sign this will bring with it lots of luck and opportunities. Something related to a collaboration or a contract might determine you to reconsider projects for the future and make a change. Either way, it seems that during December 2016 you have to make a decision. Financially, though it’s not easy, you manage. You might resume or re-consider an older collaboration, or re-evaluate some intent abandoned or put on hold in the past. Don’t waste your energy! Establish priorities and focus on what is important! Aries, December 2016 looks to be a great month with regard to your love life. Venus, the planet of love spends most of December in your sign along with lucky Jupiter, if you are single now is a great time to meet someone. If you are in a relationship then get under the mistletoe and have a good old festive snog to get those juices going! During December 2016 you won’t lack for opportunities when it comes to professional life. Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter are all getting involved you need to consider professional decisions carefully, because will begin its retrograde motion on December 19th 2016, this means that things might not always be as they seem. This month is particularly favourable for contracts and collaborations these actions will bring success and money. Ask for other’s opinion and support! You’ll achieve things easier with help than on your own.
Taurus, relationships and work seem to be revolving around each other this month. Professional decisions maybe influenced by feelings, or your partner helps you advance in someway that lead to career success or you get involved with someone you have a professional connection with etc.... December 2016 is an excellent month for getting promotions and a leg up on the work front. New perspectives open for you, favourable circumstances come your way and propel you forward. You’re on a roll and, if you do your part, you can achieve remarkable things. During December 2016, money easily enough but financial decisions need to be made very carefully. You’ll be feeling on top of the world this month with lots of energy. But you should show restraint, because excess will do you no favours. Gemini, under the influence of a Sun-Saturn conjunction this December 2016 significant events will happen regarding relationships. Most likely it’s something with long-term impact the event will either bring you together or blow you apart but overall change your life as a couple. If you’re not involved in a serious relationship and meet someone who’s a good match, you can expect the relationship to be serious. The astral configuration of the November 2016 - January 2017 term invites you to closely examine your work life balance. It’s not a good term for new financial initiatives, but for analysis and sorting out. Be careful that money-related things be fair and transparent in all collaboration! Your mood seems to be a bit glum this month. It’s worth trying to be more optimistic and hanging around with cheerful, positive people.

You have a lot on your plate but the oddest thing of all, by and large you enjoy that, are energetic and efficient. Work gives you financial and emotional satisfaction, because Venus and Mars are in in your sign. Mercury’s placement this month should bring you lots of luck. Just remember that things don’t always go smoothly but difficulties are worth the effort because you will get results. It’s a good month for general check-ups or to go to the gym, maybe start that diet before the Holidays. Libra, December 2016 is a month full of love and lust. The presence of the Venus-Mars tandem in your sign is stirring impulses you’ve not felt in a while maybe you are even falling in love. It’s a great term for rediscovering and re-launching your current relationship. If you are single now is a great time to have a Christmas fling! On the work front it’s excellent month for promoting your talents, image or the product/services you offer. During December 2016, Venus and Mars are on your side not only in love, but also when it comes to attracting professional opportunities. Another area in which you excel with this month is information and communication. The entire month is favourable for studies, interviews and negotiations etc… During the first two weeks of December 2016 you’re in great shape, your energy at its best make the most of the fab weather here and get outdoors use your energy wisely.
Scorpio, this month is all about your love life, it’s a month in which the need for intimacy is dominant. If you could, you would take your partner and settle in a hiding place, somewhere warm and comfortable and stay there all month. You might also be haunted by memories or meet an ex-lover later in the month. During this month the Sun is in your sign. So you try to enhance your income, your entrepreneurial senses sharpen, you make decisions that regard your budget, your family’s or the firm’s (if you have one), and you’re tempted to buy all kinds of things. Any financial pursuit has to be carefully thought upon, and negotiations must be handled skillfully. Be very careful about what you contract and sign! December 2016 brings nervous tension and leans toward agitation and stress. If possible, you should avoid intellectual overexertion and make time for resting and relaxing.
Sagittarius, during December 2016 your love life seems to be somehow conditioned by money, or maybe financial decisions are motivated by love. Either way, it’s clear that there’s a connection between money and relationships, and it’s not a happy one. Affection and desire are all stimulated by common intellectual or professional interests correspondence and travel. By and large, during this month you are attracted to quick-witted people. It’s a significant month for your finances. It’s time to add things up analyze what went well and what didn’t its time to put your accounts in order. It’s not a favorable term for professional decisions if not urgent – Wait to make decisions after January 8th 2017, when Mercury ends the retrograde cycle. During December 2016, your physical shape is at medium level but your morale is good, you are confident and have more sense of humour. You can also be a bit irritable and lack patience.

"It was awesome! Wait till I show you the Moon rocks I brought back," Alex boasted. "I felt like an Olympian; I was able to jump more than a metre high! There are no clouds or light pollution from big cities, and an amazing view of the stars. I watched the earthrise - right from when it was just visible on the horizon until it was overhead." "I brought back a few Moon rocks, collected on a moonwalk in the Sea of Tranquility. Hey, Jack, you collect rocks, this would be a stellar addition to your rock collection! I'm willing to sell you a rock for only..." "I've heard quite enough,” Jane interrupted. “Jack, save your money, Alex hasn’t been to The Moon." Why didn’t Jane believe Alex?

The three wise men arrived to visit the child lying in the manger. One of the wise men was exceptionally tall, and bumped his head on the low doorway as he entered the stable. “Jesus Christ!” he shouted. Joseph said, “Write that down, Mary; it’s better than Clyde!” One day, a young sooty tern was flying over the sea with its parents when the mummy bird ran into a cliff and dropped to the ground. Oblivious to his mates’ fate, the father tern flew on, but the youngster swooped to the foot of the cliff in a bid to save her. Alas, the mummy tern was already dead, and the tearful youngster was taken under the sing of a family of seagulls. A week later, the head of the seagull family announced: “You are an extremely well-behaved bird, but I’m afraid we can’t keep you. Instead we’re going to try and find a tern who can adopt you, to act as a replacement mummy.” So the seagull put and ad in the local paper: One good tern deserves a mother.

A man went to Harley Street in London, having seen an advert for a Gynaecologist's Assistant. Knowing that nowadays, job advertisers aren't able to discriminate against the applicant's gender, he was very interested, so he went in and asked the Clerk for details. The Clerk pulled up the file and read: "This job entails preparing ladies for the Gynaecologist. You will be responsible for helping them out of their underwear, laying them down and carefully washing their private areas, applying shaving foam to the necessary parts and removing all unwanted foliage, and finally, you'll be required
to rub in soothing oils, in preparation for the Gynaecologist's examination. The annual salary is £65,000 and if you're interested, you'll have to go to Manchester.." "My goodness!” exclaimed the man "Is that where the job is?" She answered, "No Sir, that's where the end of the queue is..."
Why was the snowman looking through the carrots? He was picking his nose The North Yorkshire Police reported finding a man's body in the River Swale, near Richmond. The dead man's name will not be released until his family has been notified. The victim apparently drowned due to excessive marijuana consumption. He was wearing black fishnet stockings, a red suspender belt, a pink G-string, a strap-on dildo, purple lipstick, and a 'Corbyn for Prime Minister' T-shirt. He also had a cucumber in his rectum. The police removed the Corbyn T-shirt to spare his family any unnecessary embarrassment. In spite of what we sometimes think, the police do care.

TO THE MOON & BACK‌ If you are standing on the Moon, you will never see the Earth rise or set. One side of the Moon always faces the Earth, while the other side always faces away. So depending on where you are on the Moon, the Earth will either always be in the sky, or never be in the sky; it will not rise or set.
