ROYAL GOSSIP IN THE U.S.A & UK...
HARRY AND MEGHAN: Their American dream is not panning out as
they had hoped. When they quit royal life for Hollywood, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry couldn’t wait to start afresh and make the most of the many lucrative opportunities that came their way. However, things haven’t quite worked out the way that they planned as the current coronavirus pandemic has meant that, like the rest of us, they have been stuck inside, unable to work. Meghan has loved the Hollywood lifestyle; she’s got stars in her eyes. Narrating the Disney documentary Elephants and filming a charity Instavideo of herself reading a bedtime story to son Archie... she’s relishing her return to the spotlight. But while Meghan’s happy to be back on home soil and is pushing ahead with plans to elevate the Sussex brand to A-list status, husband Prince Harry is having doubts. And a potential reality series, which could see cameras following the couple’s every move, might just be the final straw.
PRINCESS BEATRICE HEARTBREAK: When will she be getting married? Having now officially cancelled her wedding to fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, they were due to get hitched on the 29th of May. The vast majority of royal weddings take place within the six months following a proposal. Princess Beatrice is reportedly not considering any wedding plans any time soon. A source told the Daily Mail last month that the couple were considering having a “much larger affair” when the situation has recovered in 2021.

CELEBRITY GOSSIP...
JACQUELINE JOSSA 'SECRETLY' MOVES HOUSE: Jacqueline
Jossa and Dan Osborne have reportedly split. They tied the knot three years ago and have been on a rollercoaster ever since... There's been speculation that the pair have called time on their marriage amid allegations that Dan exchanged flirty messages with a model online. Following the rumours, the ex-EastEnders star apparently moved out of her ÂŁ1million home and moved into rented accomodation with daughters Ella, five, and Mia, one, without her husband knowing.
KARDASHIAN WEEKLY PHONE DELIVERY: The Kardashian clan
get brand new iPhones delivered EVERY WEEK. LA is in lockdown but that hasn't stopped filming for Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Last month Kim Kardashian-West showed a detailed video on her Instagram Story on how they're filming their iconic 'confessional' scenes and around the house. After 16 hours of footage have replacement phones delivered to their houses every week. Their Apple bill must be horrendous!
ANT MCPARTLIN POSTPONES WEDDING: Since his divorce from
Lisa Armstrong was finally granted last month, Ant McPartlin is now free to marry his girlfriend of two years, Anne-Marie Corbett. Although they are not officially engaged, sources say it won’t be long before that happens, and while they were both keen for a wedding sooner rather than later. They also think it may not be right to have a big showy wedding once lockdown comes to an end, because a lot of people will be struggling in the aftermath.

SOME VERY Quick thinking! Tom is driving his trusty white van down the motorway way over the speed limit. He drives straight through a speed trap‌ Next minute he sees blue lights in the mirror. Police pull him over. The copper approaches the van. "Sorry officer, guess the speedometer got away from me. Happens every time I get hammered and try to drive home." "What?! You're intoxicated?" "Well I needed a stiff drink after I shot that guy! It's okay though, I managed to fit the body in the back of the van" "Sir, keep your hands where I can see them. Give me your license and registration right now." "Well I would but it's in the glove box where I threw the gun, it's still pretty bloody and I don't want it to fall out until it's dried." "Do. Not. Move. I'm calling for back-up." Back-up gets there. Second cop gets out, and says "Sir, please open your doors to the back of the van." Tom opens it. Clean as a whistle. "Please show me your glove box." Tom opens it. Clean as a whistle, along with his license and registration. "I'll need you to take a breathalyzer test." Tom blows a .00 "Well what's going on? This officer said you had a dead body in the boot, a bloody gun in the glove box and were drunk." Tom says, "Ha, I bet he said I was speeding, too."

Most people these days have a safe in their house (usually hidden!), Asprey of London have changed tack by making a gorilla safe that you freely display… We take a look at other safes from around the world that can’t be hidden and what’s in them!
Fort Knox: It’s a cliché for a reason. Built with four-foot thick walls, held together by 750 tons of reinforced steel. All you have to do get past four fences, two of which are electrified and fight your way past a team of armed guards. Next up you’ll need work your way through a maze of locked doors until you get to the daddy: a vault door, weighing a whopping 22 tons. Here, you’ll need the combination to the vault and for that you’ll need to find every member of Fort Knox staff, since each knows only a small section of the combination. Nobody knows the whole thing. Once inside, you’ll need to break into each of the smaller vaults hidden inside; then find some way of transporting your booty back out again. Problem is, by this point, 30,000 soldiers from the Fort Knox military camp will be waiting for you outside. What’s Inside? Fort Knox diligently guards 5,000 tons of gold bullion; which is enough to justify its labyrinthine network of security features. Svalbard Global Seed Vault: Is buried 390 feet into the rock on the island of Spitsbergen, which sits a mere 620 miles from the North Pole and doesn’t get a lot of visitors. In addition to its standard security features, it’s protected by hundreds of miles of ocean and more than a few polar bears. Importantly, this secure facility isn’t only trying to protect the contents from intruders; it’s designed to withstand Armageddon.

Are you safe? continued..
Svalbard is buried so deep into the rock that it can withstand a nuclear holocaust, and any number of earthquakes off the Richter Scale. What’s Inside? The Vault houses over 500,000 plant species from around the world. The idea being that if we have a global disaster the flora
and fauna can be brought back to life.
Cheyenne Mountain: The 25-ton doors at Cheyenne Mountain can withstand a 30-megaton blast. If, like me, you’re not up on what that means, it means a nuclear bomb could explode on the site almost 1,500 times before it made a dent. What’s Inside? People. It’s the world’s most secure office building, buried so far into the rock that air has to be pumped in from outside just so the employees can breathe. The vault was home to the US Missile Warning Center and NORAD during the cold war now on “warm standby”. Iron Mountain: Sits 200 feet below the ground in an old limestone mine, housing 1.7 million square feet of ultra secure vaults. If you want to get inside, you’ll have to sweet-talk two waves of armed guards before you make it through the front door. What’s Inside? This buried vault contains an eclectic mix of things including: Wreckage of Flight 93, the original photo of Einstein blowing a raspberry and the original patent for the light bulb signed by one Thomas Edison. The identity of 95% of vault owners is confidential but we do know that the US government makes use of the facility, as do the Smithsonian Institution and the Warner Brothers. Amongst the goodies housed inside is a data centre called Room 48 which provides a back up to some of the US’ biggest businesses.

It’s JUST the way you approach these things... The Right Approach...
Two married friends are out drinking one night when one A Man’s turns to the other and says, “You know, I don't know what else World to do. Whenever I go home after we've been out drinking I turn the
headlights off before I get to the driveway. I shut off the engine and coast into the garage. I take my shoes off before I go into the house, I sneak up the stairs, I get undressed in the bathroom, I ease into bed and my wife STILL wakes up and yells at me for staying out so late!” His mate looks at him and says, “Well, you're obviously taking the wrong approach. I screech into the driveway, slam the door, storm up the steps, throw my shoes into the wardrobe, jump into bed, rub my hands on my wife's bum and say, ‘How about a bit?...’ and she's always sound asleep.”
FIVE RULES TO A Happily Married LIFE... · It's important to have a woman who cooks, cleans up and also has a job. · It's important to have a woman who can make you laugh. · It's important to have a woman who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you. · It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you. · It's very, very important that these four women never meet one another.

MEDICAL MAYHEM
An 85-year old man is having his annual check up. The Doctor asks him how he is feeling. “I’ve got an eighteen-year old bride who’s pregnant with my child. What do you think about that?” The Doctor considers this for a moment, and then says, “Well, let me tell you a story. I know of a guy who’s an avid hunter. He never misses a season. But one day he’s in a bit of a hurry and he accidentally grabs …his umbrella instead of his gun. So he’s walking in the woods near a creek and suddenly spots a beaver in some brush in front of him! He raises up his umbrella, points it at the beaver and squeezed the handle. BAM ! The beaver drops dead in front of him. “That’s impossible!”, says the old man in disbelief, “Someone else must have shot that beaver.” The Doctor says, “My point exactly.”
Doctor: I have some bad news and some very bad news. Patient: Well, might as well give me the bad news first.
Doctor: The lab called with your test results. They said you have 24 hours to live.
Patient: 24 hours! That's terrible! What could be worse? What's the very bad news? Doctor: I've been trying to reach you since yesterday.

HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT & KEEP IT OFF NEED TO LOSE A FEW KG’s AFTER LOOCKDOWN?
Change your thinking - fad diets make you fatter...
1) IGNORE ‘ALL OR NOTHING’
From shifting your mindset to eating more veg, here are the the simple daily habits that will help you to lose weight. If your goal is to lose weight, you might be considering a drastic lifestyle overhaul. Cut out chocolate, give up alcohol, stop eating biscuits, say adios to hot chips, start running 10 kilometers a day... When it comes to lasting weight loss, what’s far more important are the healthy habits you build up and stick to for good, rather than the short bursts of restriction that never really get you anywhere. To help shift your mindset, here’s six habits that’ll help your body reach its healthiest weight (and stay there, long term). No silly restrictions or fads in sight.
Healthy living isn’t about extremes. Truth is, you can eat ice cream, pastries and cakes (or whatever your favourite food is) and still be in tip top shape – so it’s time to shift your mindset and drop the guilt around food. As long as your diet is built on a foundation of core wholefoods (think: veg, legumes, wholegrains), there’s nothing wrong with enjoying your favourite treats every now and then. Remember, all foods fit.
2) EAT MORE VEG
Vegetables are oh-so-good for you. They’re packed with gut-loving fibre, disease-fighting antioxidants and a range of vitamins and minerals (there’s a reason your mum forced you to eat them when you were a little). Veggies should actually make up 50 per cent of every single main meal you eat, regardless of whether you want to lose weight or not.
3) TREAT YOURSELF
Feelings of deprivation will derail healthy eating, so it’s important to treat yourself occasionally without feeling bad about it. Don’t demolish a block of chocolate every listen to your body, and when you truly have a hankering for your favourite ‘sometimes’ food, enjoy a sensible portion mindfully, and move on.
4) FORGET ABOUT WHAT YOU ‘CAN’T’ EAT The second you tell yourself you can’t eat something, 46
you instantly crave that food *so* much more. You know what it’s like – you tell yourself you can’t eat ice cream, so all of a sudden, all you want to eat is ice cream. Eventually, you give in, eat a whole tub, and feel awful about yourself. So you start restricting yourself again, and the cycle repeats itself over and over. It’s rather counterproductive, right? For this reason, let go of food rules – stop telling yourself you ‘can’t’ eat X, Y and Z. You can eat whatever you want, if you truly feel like it. Got it? Good.
5) PRACTICE PORTION CONTROL
Portions. Portions. Portions. You’ve heard it all before, but portion control is one of *the* most important facets of weight management. With a goal to shed kilos, it’ll pay to get clued up on what a sensible portion of different foods are, and how much you should have each day.
6) PLAN YOUR SNACKS
Snacks get a bad rap, but it’s not exactly warranted. Yes, chips, chocolate, ultra-processed bars and salty crackers aren’t a healthy between meal bite, but there are plenty of foods you can enjoy between meals that will do your health a world of good. Think: fruit, yoghurt, a handful of raw nuts and seeds. A well-portioned snack will keep hunger pangs at bay, which can only be a good thing with a goal to lose weight.

MOLES...
A mole (melanocytic naevus) is a small, brown growth in your skin. Moles are usually circular or ovalshaped and almost every adult has at least a few. They are usually harmless, but occasionally a type of skin cancer (called melanoma) can grow in or near a mole. Skin cancers may also occur in skin without a previous mole. Here on the Costa del Sol we get a lot more sun than most so it’s best to seek medical assitance if you are unsure of any new moles you get. So if a new mole develops, it's important to let your doctor know.
PROBLEM MOLES... WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR:
Moles arise in your skin where cells called melanocytes have grouped together. Melanocytes produce a pigment called melanin which gives your skin its colour – where they cluster together your skin is darker. You may have moles when you're born but they usually develop later in childhood. They may change shape or colour over time and some may even go away when you get older. Moles vary in colour from flesh-coloured to dark brown. They may be raised or have hairs growing out of them. You can have a mole anywhere on your body including your palms and soles, your scalp, your eyes and even under your nails. There are many different types of moles. Some types look very similar to one another and it can be hard to tell them apart. They can also be confused with other skin conditions such as freckles and warts, and a type of birthmark called a haemangioma. Moles that you're born with are called congenital moles. They are usually at least 1cm across but can be much bigger. As you grow, they tend to grow with you and may become more raised and hairier as you get older.
SOME OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES ARE DESCRIBED BELOW: •JUNCTIONAL MELANOCYTIC NAEVI ARE FLAT AND ROUND. They are usually mid to dark brown.
•COMPOUND MELANOCYTIC NAEVI ARE SLIGHTLY RAISED AND ARE OFTEN HAIRY. Their colour can vary.
•INTRADERMAL MELANOCYTIC NAEVI ARE RAISED BUMPS AND OFTEN HAIRY. They may not be any darker than the rest of your skin.
•BLUE NAEVI ARE DARK BLUE AND ARE USUALLY FOUND ON YOUR FACE, HANDS OR FEET. •ATYPICAL (ALSO CALLED DYSPLASTIC) NAEVI HAVE AN ASYMMETRIC APPEARANCE (one half doesn’t match the other), contain several colours of pigment , often larger than other moles.
•HALO NAEVI ARE MORE COMMON IN CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS.
They occur when your immune system rejects the mole, which causes the mole to disappear. A ring of pale skin often surrounds the mole.
•YOU MAY DEVELOP SEBORRHOEIC WARTS (KERATOSES) LATER IN LIFE. They aren't actually moles, although they are often mistaken for them.
If you’re worried about a mole, see your DOCTOR. He or she will ask about your symptoms and examine you. He or she may also ask you about your medical history. Your DOCTOR may ask you to regularly take a photo of your mole alongside a clear plastic ruler and see if it’s changed. Alternatively your DOCTOR might do this for you. This is called mole mapping. There are also lots of clinics that offer a mole mapping service. 48

He only pooped every 40-50 days! • In the 1960’s, a soviet doctor named Leonid Ivanovich Rogozov had to remove his own appendix after it burst because he was the only doctor stationed in a remote Antarctic facility with no
option for evacuation. The operation lasted one hour and 45 minutes and he lived to tell the tale. • Early in her career Mila Kunis, who emigrated from the Ukraine, auditioned to play a Russian Jewish girl who moves to America. Method:
1) Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Add the chilli and garlic and cook until softened and starting to colour. Break in the eggs on either side of the pan. Once they start to set, spoon the beans (with their juice) and the tomatoes around the pan and sprinkle over the cumin seeds. You’re aiming to warm the beans and tomatoes rather than cook them.
• 2 tsp rapeseed oil • 1 red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced • 1 large garlic clove, sliced •2 large eggs •400g can black beans •½ x 400g can cherry tomatoes •¼ tsp cumin seeds •1 small avocado, halved and sliced • Handful fresh, chopped coriander •1 lime, cut into wedges
2) Remove the pan from the heat and scatter over the avocado and coriander. Squeeze over half of the lime wedges. Serve with the remaining wedges on the side for squeezing over.

CARS BEFORE IN HOUSE DESIGNERS
Before in house designers, most car manufacturers used to consult outside companies to design their new cars, some were rejected then reoffered to other manufacturers as a proposed new model. We look at some of them: The Audi Quartz Concept - Just look at the body shape, the deep line on the sides and the four round headlights. Built as a birthday gift for the 75-year-old Swiss magazine Automobil Revue it eventually became the Alfa Romeo GTV. The Jaguar Bertone Pirana was designed for the Daily Telegraph. And shown at the London Motor Show in 1967. It was a re-bodied E-type and the design became the Lamboghini Espada a year later. The BMC 1800 Berlina Aerodynamic was changed considerably and eventually became the Rover SD1, The original was re-designed by for the by CitroĂŤn and became the shapes of the GS and CX.
The Lucciola Concept by Italdesign Giugiaro based on the Fiat Cinquecento with a small two-cylinder cylinder that served as a range extender for an electric power train. Fiat saw nothing in the Lucciola concept, so Italdesign Giugiaro sold the design to Daewoo, who called it The Matiz. The game changing Renault Espace was passed around before it found a builder. The P23 was designed by Fergus Pollock then of Chrysler UK to be a Talbot, it was rejected when PSA Peugeot took over the company and the design was given to Matra, who went to Renault with the renamed P17 Concept, Renault changed the concept name to J11 and the rest is history. 58

Capricorn, although it can be beneficial to work with others, you may run into problems with those who see you as a threat or whose actions or attitudes undermine the effectiveness of what you’re attempting this month. Family matters can be excessively complicated this month. You may feel more driven to accomplish career aims, and competition only spurs you forward. Knowing your limits is important, though, because if you’re driven by ego or if you ignore reality, you can waste time and resources. A fresh approach to work brings improvements during the Moon on June 13th, and you may also gain momentum due to assistance from a valuable partner after June 22nd. Probing into your deeper motivations helps you understand your drives and needs, and if you can surrender attachments to the things you no longer need you’ll attract meaningful support. Aquarius, creative pursuits continue to inspire you, and your ideas and efforts advance your reputation and career. Investments of all types time, money and effort bring handsome rewards, personally and professionally. Your sentimentality emerges, and showing your partner how much you appreciate him or her opens the way for deeper love. The energy of the Moon on June 13th lets love flow freely; you gain a new perspective on life. A trusting partnership becomes more spiritually focused, but an untried relationship is on uncertain footing from June 6th to 20h. Take your time! Contracts and legal agreements need careful consideration, although negotiations are promising this month. A clearer picture emerges after June 17th. Make improvements at work before the Moon on June 28th, because emotional issues can cloud the picture at that time. Pisces, personal matters and home-based activities are important this month, and may be a source of meaningful change. If you’re considering career alterations, your family may offer the best advice. Laughter is marvelous medicine now, and the joy of play gives you an entirely new perspective on your priorities. Your family and home are precious treasures, and bringing more love into your life through time with children and family warms your heart. If you’ve been waiting for a good time to tell somebody how you feel, you may finally be comfortable pouring out your heart during the Moon, when promises made place you on a solid footing. The flow of love grows stronger during the Moon on June 28th. Your generosity can be the saving grace for someone in need; sharing your resources can inspire others to do the same. Look for worthy causes. Aries, your creative drive and expressive ideas are your best allies now, personally and professionally. Balancing your priorities may not be easy. Take care of responsibilities first. It’s easy to overdo it, since you may become so involved in meeting your challenges that you forget about your physical limitations. There are plenty of ups and downs in your love life. If you’re looking for romance, a fascinating love interest emerges during the Moon on June 13th. Reality raises its head from June 15th to 19th, so at least you’ll find out where you stand. But watch out, because there’s another option on the horizon after June 20th, and it could just be someone who didn’t work out before. Do you really want to try it again? Speculative ventures get your attention, and reasonable success is possible if you can afford the risks. This is a great time to go inside and listen to your inner voice. Taurus, although you may operate best when there is consistency, you may have to make the best of changing circumstances and deal with your priorities a day at a time. Incorporating change into an existing situation works better than starting over. You may be feeling a little lazy, but you can’t allow that to get in the way of your physical health! Disagreements over the best ways to satisfy needs at home can lead to misunderstandings, especially if someone is not listening. Decide whom you’re trying to impress from June 6th to 24th, before you make choices that don’t really fit your needs. It’s easy to be dazzled by exteriors or the promise of excitement, and in the end you may pay too dear a price. Evaluate your finances and set up a workable budget during the Moon on June 13th, and avoid the temptation to spend frivolously, you’ll likely regret it later.
Gemini, improved communication adds a vital ingredient to your success and career advancement this month. On a personal level, you’re ready for more excitement in your love life. Maybe improved communication will help there, too. Increasing your stamina and endurance are key ingredients in your fitness profile this month. If you’re in the right relationship your heart will easily fill to overflowing, but if you’re unhappy, you can be really unhappy until you find a way to let more love into your life. Expressing your feelings is the key, and knowing that you deserve to experience fulfillment opens the door during the Gemini Moon on June 13th. With lots of people clamoring for your attention and eager to hear your ideas, you’re challenged to use your influence wisely. Learning more about finances and targeting long-range financial plans adds peace of mind after June 6th.

Cancer, friction between home and work can be the source of extra stress, but you can accomplish your aims through community support and working with others instead of just carrying the burdens alone. Staying on a budget may not be as easy for you this month. Everything may be rush, rush, rush… and in your attempts to keep the candle burning at both ends you can simply run out of steam. To avoid burnout, set limits. Yet staying active is crucial if you are to generate adequate energy and avoid feeling exhausted. Family disputes can escalate out of control, especially if there are misunderstandings about money. By the Moon on June 28th you’re feeling more centered, and achieving balance seems more realistic. Impulsive spending from June 1st to 5th can cause headaches. Leo, you’ll like a little special attention this month, but you may not get it when you want it! Check your motivations, if you’re too self-absorbed it may backfire and then you’ll really be disappointed. Inner fitness is the key to success this June affirming your strengths and releasing old emotional blocks playing a significant role in your sense of well-being. Even though you may feel ready for something different during the Moon on June 13th, there may still be unfinished business with an old love. Letting go of the past is easier during the Moon on June 28th, but you may have to deal with the issue before then. Professional alliances give you the edge in business through June 20th, but someone who creates problems from June 5th to 11th may deceive you. Large expenditures can carry surprising obligations towards the end of the month. Virgo, your career and reputation take all your attention up this month, your drive to reach that pinnacle can stem from a desire to have more of the good things life has to offer. Burning the candle at both ends may bring accomplishment, but you’re subject to burnout if you fail to allow time to regroup. Professional associates provide just the boost you need, and lending a helping hand to someone you respect has its own rewards. Be clear about your expectations from June 6th to 12th, or you may end up promising more than you intended. This is not a good time to make risky investments, either. Pay back old debts after June 18th, because you’ll want the freedom to consider new ventures later. You’ve heard it before: It’s not what you know; it’s who you know. The truth of that statement resounds loud and clears this month. Libra, advancement in your career encourages you to formulate a new set of goals. Competitive situations may actually be rather appealing to you, especially if you’ve established the right alliances. Group efforts work to your advantage. If you’re dragging your heels about your fitness activities, this is a great time to convince a friend to join you. You might also benefit from working with a personal trainer. Getting into nature may be invigorating and can inspire your creativity. The Moon on June 28th tests your resolve and may lead to a period of crisis concerning your reputation or your relationship or with superiors. Even though you may think you like the assistance or support of others, the extent to which you allow their input is tested this month. Let yourself receive. It might just feel better than you thought!
Scorpio, even though competitors have an eye on your position this month, you are keenly aware of their motivations. Timing is everything, and patience can be your strongest ally. Extra rest may be necessary, although you may feel that you never have enough time to sleep! Taking frequent breaks throughout the day or allowing time for a massage could be the answer if your schedule is overwhelmingly busy. Add energy to your love life by spending time with your other half near the Moon on June 28th. Your reputation can be sullied by false information from June 1st to 12th, and knowing exactly what’s happening will help you quell the damage before it’s too late. If you are looking for love then a few options could appear after June 20th. But choose your suitor well! Sagittarius, a burst of creative inspiration stimulates a broader vision for your future, and encourages you to take a few risks as you set out toward new horizons. You can be positively influential in the lives of others, as well. To awaken an existing relationship or discover new love, surrender to your needs for spiritual inspiration this month. Partnerships are highlighted during the Moon on June 13th, when defining your roles and needs gives you a renewed sense of freedom. The flow of love giving and receiving grows ever stronger as you maintain an open heart. Finances are emphasised during the Moon on June 28th, when joint ventures require special consideration. Generating enthusiastic support from others strengthens your professional reputation and buoys your sense of optimism this June. Generosity has its own rewards.

An 8-year-old girl asks her father, "Daddy, what is sex?" The father is somewhat surprised that she would ask such a question. But, he reckons if she's old enough to ask the question, then surely she's old enough for a straight answer. So, the father proceeds to tell his young daughter all about the "birds and the bees." After a brief explanation, the little girl appears wide-eyed in disbelief. "By the way, dear, why do you ask?" the father asks. The little girl replies, "Mommy told me to tell you that dinner would be ready in just a couple of secs."

“I am so grateful to be sober – and that my life’s worth something again” Former police officer Niall, now 60, lived a life of drinking and cheating in his marriages. Until one day he was given a final ultimatum that totally transformed his life… “I worked in the Royal Navy, the police and for the ambulance service. I married at 18 and had a son. As a father I was useless, more interested in myself, and so I neglected my responsibilities. My childhood was unhappy. Many nights I sat outside pubs listening to my parents living it up inside. Aged 12, they broke up. I stayed with my father in London – an easy choice as I always felt a failure around my mother and she never said she loved me. I just wanted to grow up quickly and get away, so I no longer felt different, less than and not part of anything: a massive hole in an unhappy life. I was drinking regularly from about 12, and even by my early days in the navy I was told by an officer that my drinking was a concern. I took no notice. In fact, I drank throughout my working life, everything revolved around it. I stank of booze most days. During my marriages I had a number of affairs and sex became a drug as well. I didn’t care who I hurt as long as I felt better, although I remember little as my blackouts were regular. I could turn anything into an addiction, including gambling on fruit machines. Inside, I hated myself and drank more to try dealing with that. I never thought at any time I had a problem. But one day my second wife said if I didn’t sort out my drinking she was leaving. She gave me the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) number.
Call our HELPline For Support And Information
The man I spoke to visited me and we chatted for six hours. I heard that he used to drink like me, but had been sober for nearly 50 years now! I walked unsteadily into my first AA meeting and don’t remember much of what was said – but was shocked to see happy faces and people who were welcoming and loving. I knew I’d found somewhere safe, where I belonged. Nobody judged, we were equals with the same disease – and so my recovery began that day in 2012. Since then I have never had another drink. Nowadays I actually like the person I see in the mirror. The only requirement to visit an AA meeting is a desire to stop drinking. If you feel you want help, call the confidential helpline, just like I did several years ago. Then you will know that you’re not alone.”
AA is located along the entire Costa del Sol and there is a meeting with friendly people who will understand your problems somewhere near you every day. Call the AA helpline for support: 600 379 110.
