Ed’s Note..
Gosh it really feels as if Autumn is drawing in…The clocks have gone back and things seem to be slowing down a little on the Costa del Sol, the evenings are starting earlier and it’s nice to be warm and cosy at home by the end of the day. Lots going on up and down the Costa del Sol this month check out the ‘What’s on Guide” on page 62 if you fancy a jaunt out… And remember – it’s remembrance Sunday on the 12th, the Coin Branch of The Royal British Legion are holding a Service of Remembrance on the 11th again see page 62 for more info. Yes, Christmas is just around the corner (I’m getting excited already) fingers crossed I don’t leave everything to the last minute this year, although I’ll probably be eating my words in the next Ed’s note! But if your business has any special offers a special event or party over the festive period please get in touch. We have some great rates at the moment. Have a great month!

A Woman’s World
A few things not to say to a naked guy..
• Ahh, it's cute... • Why don't we just cuddle? • You know they have surgery to fix that... • It's more fun to look at... • Make it dance... • You know.... There's a tower in Italy like that... • Can I paint a smiley face on that? • Wow, and your feet are so big... That’s obviously a myth then! • My last boyfriend was at least 4" bigger... • It's ok, we'll work around it... • Will it squeak if I squeeze it? • Oh no, a flash headache... • (giggle and point) • Can I be honest with you? • Let me go get my tweezers... • This explains your car... • Maybe if we water it, it'll grow...
• Cool, a treasure hunt! • I didn't know they came that small... • At least this won't take long... • I never saw one like that before... • What do you call this? • Do you take steroids? • Maybe it looks better in natural light... • Oh, I didn't know you were in an accident... • Did you date Lorena Bobbitt? • Ahh, it's hiding. • Are you cold? • Is that an optical illusion? • It's good you have so many other talents... • Does it come with a foot pump? • Is that a second belly button? • So this is why you're supposed to judge people on personality... • If you get me really drunk first...

X MARKS THE SPOT… Who is the favourite to win X Factor this year? Grace Davies remains a front-runner at the moment she reduced Nicole Scherzinger to tears in her debut audition. Holly Tandy is at 4/1 at the bookies other favourites include Rak-Su at 5/1. Kevin Davy White has bowled the judges and viewers over with his rendition of the classic James Brown track Man's World and could be coming a favourite. Otherwise Sean and Conor Price are at 15/2, Nicole Scherzinger said she got "goosebumps on her goosebumps" from busking brothers singing. Traditionally the X Factor final is two weeks before Christmas so the winner can bag the Christmas NO1 spot. We’ll have to wait and see from past experience it could be anyone’s game… GBBO, IT’S NO JOKE!… Ofcom received 55 complaints over the gag that
saw Noel huddled up inside a fridge during the Showstopper challenge, with co-host Sandi Toksvig opening and closing the door on him. Bake Off has also been cleared of two complaints over 'race discrimination/offence', although it's not clear what those complaints referred to. Away from the tent, it's also been confirmed that Bake Off: Crème de la Crème will be jumping to Channel 4 next year as well.
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 2018 LINE-UP… CBB 2018 is on the hori-
zon.... The rumours have already started these are the names churning out already… Louise Thompson (MIC), Laura Simpson (The Wayne Rooney Girl), Chris Hughes (Love Island star), Sinitta (1980s singer, Simon Cowell's ex and BFF), Spencer Matthews (EX-MIC), Pete Wicks (TOWIE star and ex-of Megan McKenna), Rodrigo Alves (Human Ken doll). The new series is set to launch in January 2018 (really not that far away) on Channel 5.

THE CROWN SEASON TWO… Fan of period drama or not, it was impossible to deny the quality and appeal of The Crown, Netflix's lavish, smart and emotional series dramatising the reign of Elizabeth II and the impact her rise to power had on her family, her government and her people. Season two is expected to follow Liz and the royals from around 1957 through 1964 – which means (spoilers!) that we can expect to see the births of Princes Andrew (born 1960) and Edward (1964). The new season will start on Friday, December 8th - a lovely early Christmas present! RHOBH SEASON 8… It's been nearly a year since Bravo aired new
episodes of RHOBH, but the upcoming season looks filled with the usual glamour and fights, hitting the screens in the US next month. Erika is serving up some major attitude with her fashion and hair choices. Her glam squad are traveling with her to ensure the musician is looking her very best. The cast includes Kyle, Erika Jayne, Lisa Vanderpump, Dorit Kemsley, Lisa Rinna, new Housewife Teddi Jo Mellencamp. (She is the daughter of music legend John Cougar Mellencamp and has her own fitness blog). Also past housewives Camille Grammer and Adrienne Maloof make appearances this season. They are hitting the streets of Berlin where it appears there's going to be some drama between Erika and Rinna. We can’t wait, cat fights and couture…
FINALLY! CRADLE TO GRAVE IS BACK… Danny Bakers masterpiece
is back on the telly, yippee…The delay was apparently caused by trying to lock down Peter Kay to commit to the show. Cradle To Grave is based on Baker’s memoirs of a child growing up in 1970s South London. Laurie Kynaston plays the young version of Baker, and Kay plays his dad’. Returning on December 11th to BBC2.

Sticks and Stones, etc...
What’s that saying? “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”… Well I think that some parents must have a very good sense of humour to name their kids in strange ways but what do you call some of the unluckiest named people in Britain and the USA?
Justin Case, Barb Dwyer and Stan Still.
It sounds like a bad joke, but a study has revealed that there really are unfortunate people with those names in the UK. Joining them on the list are...
Terry Bull, Paige Turner, Mary Christmas & Anna Sasin. And just imagine having to introduce yourself to a crowd as...
Doug Hole or Hazel Nutt. Retired airman Stan Still, 80, from Cirencester, Gloucestershire,
said his name had been "a blooming millstone around "I know w ec name he an my neck my entire life". "When I was in the RAF my Hazel Nu r... commanding officer used to shout, 'Stan Still, get a tt?"
move on' and roll about laughing," he said.
But 59-year-old Rose Bush, from Coventry, West Midlands, said she loved her name. "I always get comments about it but they are always very positive," she said. Researchers also scoured phone records in the USA and found some unlikely names there too. Spare a thought for Anna Prentice, Annette Curtain & Bill Board the next time you sign your name.

A string of Americans also have very job-specific names, including Dr Leslie Doctor, Dr Thoulton Surgeon & Les Plack - a dentist in San Francisco. After doing a little more research other people with weird and wonderful names set up a blog here are some of there comments:
• “I was named Simon Swindells at birth. It caused no end of ridicule throughout my childhood and teens and I changed my first name by deed poll shortly after turning 18 and changed the surname a few years later.” • “Well, years of ruthless teasing have given way to slightly kinder comments along the lines of” "what a great name". I just wish I had a decent answer to the question: "What were your parents thinking?" Daisy Picking, London. • “My father, whose name was Albert Hall, had a lot to answer for when he named my brother Jim. Jim took a pounding whenever PE came round at school. You'd have thought the "Royal" Albert would have been a bit more circumspect in his choice of name for his offspring!” David Hall, Scotland.
"I know w e name himcan Jim Hall ... ?"
• “My name was Susan Frame. I am a lawyer. I met and married Robert who is a banker. His surname is Mee. Now we are Sue Mee, a lawyer, and Rob Mee, a banker - ironic? I have taken no end of stick for this, believe me.” Susan Mee, Doncaster.

•“Unfortunately your name doesn't have to have a double meaning to be found continually amusing to others. However, I have found the benefit in adult life is that it is always noticed and remembered and is therefore a great networking "tool".” Bill Badger, Essex.
• “Hi, my mum was Hazel Nutt. Her maiden name was Morrison and she married my father, Peter Nutt. MARBELLA CRUISERS advertised their 2017 trip, each month for just over a year, and of course, the more we saw it, the more we were tempted!
So we booked it – our first cruise! Colin from Marbella Cruisers had pre booked for 100 people but actually had 160 bookings so the cruise liner upgraded the status from a “large group” to a “huge group”. So as well as the large discounts Colin had negotiated, he was then able to offer excursions at around 60% cheaper than they were offered on-board.
Our Ship - T
he Norwegian
Epic
We arrived at Barcelona Port on the Sunday afternoon and didn’t really know what to expect with four thousand people trying to get on board at the same time. Our cases were collected by a member of the crew and we were ushered to the front of the queue, being warmly welcomed by the staff, we then boarded The Norwegian Epic, the fourth largest cruise ship in The World.
Our next day on board was at sea, there was so much to do, the water slides, pool, theatre, bowling alley, live music, quizzes, cocktail bars and even an Irish bar! Then there was the food – what a choice! There were many and various restaurants, from buffet food to fine dining, each with a different theme. Colin had negotiated free dining in a number of these restaurants for our group. Our group had exclusive use of the Ballroom for three nights, one of which was a White and Gold party night. With live entertainment from top Marbella acts Stelvis & Mr Maph with Simone Lisa.
Us enjoying Shanghai’s Chinese Restaurant
Our Balcony Stateroom On day three we woke up and looked out of the window, we were in Naples. An excursion to Pompeii had been organised and this was our favourite destination. To see this whole Roman city and get an idea of how life was two thousand years ago was simply incredible.

Waking up in Naples
n
The Colosseum, Rome
White & Gold Party Night
An excursion to Rome was organised for day four. We saw The Colosseum, The Trevi Fountain and a guided tour of The Vatican. A fantastic guide who knew just about everything about everything enhanced this amazing tour! On our last day in Italy we visited The Leaning Tower of Pisa and then went to Florence, a beautiful city steeped in history home to Galileo, Michelangelo and DaVinci. We also saw the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and other beautiful buildings and had some fabulous ice cream! The next day we arrived in Cannes, a trip to Monaco and Monte Carlo had been arranged. What an amazing place! Recognising a lot of it from watching numerous Grand Prix, the Casino, the tunnel the famous corner and statues of famous drivers. Day seven in Palma, Mallorca. This is an area that we know well, having been there a number of times previously so rather than take a tour we spent the day in the city centre browsing the shops and had lunch in one of our favourite tapa bars. So back to Barcelona on the last day. Most of the group boarded the AVE and headed back to the Costa del Sol, but we wanted to enjoy one more day on this fantastic holiday and went on our final tour. Now we need a rest!
To join us next year please see page 29...

In Vatican City
We must give all credit to Colin for organising the trip, the Ship was quite incredible as were the excursions and it is all down to Colin’s negotiation skills and having such a large group. We would say it is a once in a lifetime trip, but we can’t - we have just booked for next year on an even bigger and better ship.

A Vow of Silence...
Sister Mary Katherine entered the Convent of Silence...
The Priest said, “Sister, this is a silent monastery. You are welcome here as long as you like, but you may not speak until directed to do so.” Sister Mary Katherine lived in the monastery for 5 years before the Priest said to her, “Sister Mary Katherine, you have been here for 5 years. You may speak two words.” Sister Mary Katherine said, “Hard bed.” “I'm sorry to hear that,” the Priest said, “We will get you a better bed.” After another 5 years, Sister Mary Katherine was summoned by the Priest. “You may say another two words, Sister Mary Katherine.” "Sister... “Cold food,” said Sister Mary Katherine, and the This is a sil Priest assured her that the food would be better monaste ent ry?" in the future. On her 15th anniversary at the monastery, the Priest again called Sister Mary Katherine into his office. “You may say two words today.” “I quit,” said Sister Mary Katherine.
“It's probably best,” said the Priest, “You've done nothing but moan since you got here.”

GADGETS &Gizmo’s Paper aeroplanes, in our experience, are great until you actually throw them. The PowerUp Dart conversion kit can be attached to any plane your imagination can design. Once airborne, you’ll be pulling off wingovers, lazy 8s and loops in no time through a combination of tilt and on-screen controls. A 25 minute charge gives you a decent 10 minutes of flight time.
We finally have some new information about the upcoming Ataribox. The famous brand’s comeback be getting what they call a ‘full PC experience for the TV’, with streaming, apps, web browsing and all the other multimedia stuff you’d expect from a modern console. That’s not to say you won’t be able to fire up Super Breakout on it, though. The Ataribox (approx. 300€) obviously inspired by the Atari 2600 and launching in Spring 2018 with a real wood edition - comes pre-loaded with loads of retro games, as well some as-yet unnamed current titles.
For a true hit of nostalgia, The C64 Mini is on the way in early 2018. The pint-sized C64 will cost 80 Euros, has HDMI out, two USB ports, and comes with a classic Competition Pro joystick. Most importantly, it’s packed with original 64 games, including Impossible Mission, Paradroid, Speedball II, Spindizzy and Uridium. although to be truly realistic, it should take 15 minutes for a game to load, with flickering bars and awful noises!

Sphero’s latest invention sees it returning to its spherical roots. No larger than a ping pong ball, the Sphero Mini’s form belies the tech hiding inside. Once you’ve paired your Mini with the app, you can use either the on-screen joystick or tilt controls to whizz the toy anywhere within a 10m range, as well as play a handful of pre-loaded games. It features Face Drive, which tracks expressions such as smiles, winks, head tilts and more to determine which direction the robot takes.

All the latest in the world of tech and gaming... Ever wanted to be a pianist? Piano Hi-Lite is a plug-and-play LED strip. Playing is simply a case of following the LED indicators now blinking above your keys, which will pause until you hit the right note. With Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro USB out of the box, just connect to your tablet or smartphone & the companion app will provide instant feedback and interactive lessons.
Samsung has launched two special edition versions of its PowerBot VR7000 - one that resembles Darth Vader, and the other a Stormtrooper. Both models have Cyclone Force tech and powerful suction, as well as a sensor that enables the vacuum to map out the most efficient cleaning route in your house. You can control them via an app or with Alexa voice commands, but what sets these hoovers apart is their sound effects, you’ll get Vader breathing when you turn that model on, and it plays the Imperial March when returned to its charging station.
Having a bottomless library of generation-spanning music in your pocket is great but it’s difficult to escape that nagging feeling that it could sound a lot better. McIntosh’s Portable Decoding Amplifier a 32-bit DAC, decodes pretty much anything providing a much improved version to your headphones. There’s wired connectivity for Apple, Android, Mac and PC, or a rechargeable battery for six hours of Bluetooth playback.
The ZTE Axon M dual screen phone is taking things in a new direction. The 5.2in, 1080p screen up front is hinged, hiding a second matching display on the back. Fold it out and you get a single 6.75in, 1920x2160 screen with a whacking great seam down the middle. The specs aren’t great, with last year’s Snapdragon 821 and only one camera, but that 20MP pixel count should help it take decent shots. On sale in the US in November for US$725 SIM-free, but no word if it’s coming to Europe yet.

"Then two years ago, I cared very deeply for an attractive woman who didn't understand me." "Wasn't that love?" asks Steve. "No, that was lust," Bill replies. "And just last year, I met a woman while I was on a cruise. She was gorgeous, intelligent, a great conversationalist and had a super sense of humor. Everywhere I followed her on that ship, I would get a very strange sensation in the pit of my stomach." "Well, wasn't that love," asks Steve. "No. That was motion sickness!" Bill replies.

MEDICAL MAYHEM
DOCTOR, DOCTOR... “Doctor, Doctor! I keep thinking I’m a dog.” “Take a seat.” “I can’t I’m not allowed o the furniture.”
W-H-O-O-M or W-H-O-M-B?... One after noon tow doctors form India were having a heated discussion. “I say it’s spelled W-H-O-O-M,” said the first Indian doctor. The second Indian Doctor disagreed. “No, it’s WH-O-M-B.” An American nurse, who was passing, said: “Actually you’re both wrong. Its spelled W-O-M-B.” “Thank you nurse,” said on of the doctors, “But we prefer to settle this argument among ourselves. Besides, we don’t think you are in a position to describe the sound of an elephant passing wind under water.”
FEELING STRANGE... A man walked into the doctor’s office with a lettuce leaf sticking
out of his ear. “That’s strange,’ said the doctor. The man said: “That’s just the tip of the iceberg.”
IN FANTASTIC SHAPE... “You’re in remarkable shape for a man of your age,” Said the doctor to the 90-year-old man after an examination. “Don’t I know it,” said the old man. “I’ve really only got one complaint, my sex drive is too high. Anything you can do about that, doctor?” The doctor’s mouth dropped open. “Your what?” he gasped. “My sex drive,” said the old man. “It’s too high and I’d like you to lower it if you can.” “Lower it?” exclaimed the doctor, still unable to believe what this 90-year-old was saying. “Just what do you consider too high?” “These days it seems like it’s all in my head, doctor,” said the old man, “and I’d like it lowered a couple of feet if you can.” Advertise your business in our on-line business directory for only 95€ a year!

SPORT & REMEDIAL THERAPY...
SPORT AND REMEDIAL THERAPY...
Sport and remedial therapy should be designed to the individual. You are unique, and any problems that you suffer from, whether they are injuries or just aches and pains, are specific to you, and your treatment should reflect that.
Postural, medical and historical background checks are crucial to your treatment, as they help the therapist in determining a treatment for your specific needs, finding root causes for pain and injuries that need aid in healing.
breaking them will improve your mobility and prevent pain and injury.
If all you need is relaxing, de-stressing massage, there are many therapists in spas, beauty salons and private practice that can accommodate this. However, if you have aches or pains, want to improve your mobility, have injuries from sport of accident, or want to improve your sports performance, then this is for you. Any age, level of mobility or level of sport will be helped by regular treatments. You will not only release physical aches and pains, but also reduce the risk of physical injury.

THE BENEFITS OF STOPPING SMOKING... Smoking is bad for your health, but exactly how will stopping make life better? Here are some ways your health will improve when you stop smoking. Did you know that... If you stop smoking for 28 days, you're five times more likely to stop for good.
But this is not the case. In fact, scientific studies show people's stress levels are lower after they stop smoking.
STOPPING SMOKING LETS YOU BREATHE MORE EASILY... People breathe more easily and cough less when they give up smoking because their lung capacity improves by up to 10% within nine months. In your 20s and 30s, the effect of smoking on your lung capacity may not be noticeable until you go for a run, but lung capacity naturally diminishes with age. In later years, having maximum lung capacity can mean the difference between having an active, healthy old age and wheezing when you go for a walk or climb the stairs.
STOPING SMOKING GIVES YOU MORE ENERGY... Within 2 to 12 weeks of stopping smoking, your blood circulation improves. This makes all physical activity, including walking and running, much easier. You will also give a boost to your immune system, making it easier to fight off colds and flu. The increase in oxygen in the body can also reduce tiredness and the likelihood of headaches.
DITCH THE CIGARETTES AND FEEL LESS STRESSED... The withdrawal from nicotine between cigarettes can heighten feelings of stress. As the stress of withdrawal feels the same as other stresses, it's easy to confuse normal stress with nicotine withdrawal, so it can seem like smoking is reducing other stresses. 48
QUITTING LEADS TO BETTER SEX... Stopping smoking improves the body's blood flow so improves sensitivity. Men who stop smoking may get better erections. Women may find their orgasms improve and they become aroused more easily. It's also been found that non-smokers are three times more appealing to prospective partners than smokers. STOPPING SMOKING IMPROVES SMELL & TASTE... When you stop smoking, your senses of smell and taste get a boost. You may notice that food tastes and smells different as your mouth and nose recover from being dulled by the hundreds of toxic chemicals found in cigarettes. STOP SMOKING FOR YOUNGER-LOOKING SKIN... Stopping smoking has been found to slow facial ageing and delay the appearance of wrinkles. The skin of a non-smoker gets more nutrients, including oxygen, and stopping smoking can reverse the sallow, lined complexion smokers often have.
QUIT SMOKING TO LIVE LONGER... Half of all long-term smokers die early from smokingrelated diseases, including heart disease, lung cancer and chronic bronchitis. Men who quit smoking by the age of 30 add 10 years to their life. People who kick the habit at 60 add three years to their life. In other words, it's never too late to benefit from stopping. Being smoke-free not only adds years to your life but also greatly improves your chances of a disease-free, mobile, happier old age. A SMOKE-FREE HOME PROTECTS YOUR LOVED ONES... By stopping smoking, you'll be protecting the health of your non-smoking friends and family, too. Breathing in secondhand smoke increases the risk of lung cancer, heart disease and stroke. In children, it doubles the risk of getting chest illnesses, including pneumonia, ear infections, wheezing and asthma. They also have three times the risk of getting lung cancer in later life compared with children who live with non-smokers.

WHAT IS LYMPHOEDEMA?
Lymphoedema is a swelling that develops as a result of an impaired lymphatic system. This may be due as a result of the lymphatic system not developing properly or through damage or trauma to the lymph vessels thereby preventing them to drain the body’s tissues sufficiently. It can affect any part of the body but is most commonly found in the limbs. A recent study has estimated that at least 240,000 people in the UK may be affected by this condition. Unfortunately I do not have any figures for Spain. Regular readers will know that I have often written about the lymphatic system in the past, also known as the waste disposal system of the body, and how passionate I am about the subject! THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF LYMPHOEDEMA:-
Primary Lymphoedema: This is congenital, from birth and is usually due to the under-development and/or failure of the lymph vessels. Primary lymphoedema can be hereditary. It can also manifest itself without any obvious cause at different stages in life: •Lymphoedema praecox: During puberty, especially in girls. It can develop very quickly.
•Lymphoedema tardum: This develops around the age of 35 years and over. This is found in both men and women. Secondary Lymphoedema: This is the result of a problem outside of the lymphatic system that prevents it from working properly, most often from one of the following:
•Surgery: Especially when lymph nodes have been removed during treatment for cancer.
•Radiotherapy: This kills the cancer/tumour cells, but it can cause scar tissue that interrupts the flow of lymph.
•Accidental trauma/injury or infection that may damage the lymph vessels and in turn reduces lymph drainage. •Reduced mobility/paralysis.
•Problems with veins not working properly normally due to varicose veins or after a DVT. • Obesity. • Cancer.
Unfortunately, most of the underlying causes of lymphoedema are irreversible and as such, there is currently no known cure. However, appropriate treatment such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage and the wearing of compression garments can be implemented to reduce the swelling and keep it to a minimum. *The above information is also available from the Lymphatic Support Network (LSN).
I have recently seen an increase in the number of clients coming to see me for either oedema (a lesser form of lymphoedema) and lymphoedema.

THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF YOGA
Workout fads come and go, but virtually no other exercise program is as enduring as yoga. It's been around for more than 5,000 years. Yoga does more than burn calories and tone muscles. It's a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. There are more than 100 different forms of yoga. Some are fast-paced and intense. Others are gentle and relaxing.

Beef Rendang &Turmeric Rice
1) For the paste, soak the chillies in boiling water for 15 mins. Drain, remove seeds and whizz with the rest of the paste ingredients in a small food processor until smooth. Heat the oil in a wok or a heavy-based flameproof casserole dish. Fry the paste for 5 mins until the aroma is released. Add the beef and the lemongrass, and mix well. Once the beef starts to lose its pinkness, add the coconut milk and 250ml water. Bring to the boil, then lower to a simmer, uncovered. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking, and more often towards the end. 2) Meanwhile, toast the coconut in a frying pan on a low heat for 5-7 mins until golden brown. Set aside to cool. Using a blender, coarsely blend it to finer pieces – but not too fine. Put to one side. 3) After 2 hrs, add the coconut, kaffir lime leaves, chicken stock powder, tamarind paste, sugar and salt to the pan. Simmer for 30 mins more. You should start to see the oil separating from the mix. It’s ready when the meat is tender and almost falling apart. 4) For the rice, use a heavy-based saucepan with a lid. Heat the oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds. Once the seeds start popping, add the turmeric, curry leaves (if using) and rice, and mix well. Add the chicken stock and 1 litre of water. Bring to the boil, then turn down to the lowest simmer and cook, covered, for 5 mins. Remove from the heat, with the lid on and leave to steam for 25 mins.
Method:
It’s a bit of a Winter warmer for the cooler evenings... A delicious curry slow-cooked to make the beef tender, very much a Malaysian favourite.

INVENTORS KILLED BY THEIR INVENTIONS People take dangerous risks that might change the world or get them on Dragon’s Den! Over the course of civilisation, millions of inventions succeeded beyond their creator’s wildest dream. But some were just massve fails.... • William Bullock invented the first modern printing press. While installing a machine for the Philadelphia Public Ledger, Bullock tried to kick a belt onto a pulley and got his leg crushed in the moving mechanism. He developed gangrene and his leg needed amputating. During his surgery on April 12, 1867, Bullock died of complications. • Max Valier was an Austrian rocket scientist who invented solid and liquid fueled missiles. Given his success with flight, Valier thought it’d be cool to make a rocket-propelled car. It worked, too, and he got it up to 250 mph.
Trying to get even better, Valier experimented with alcohol as a combustible. That got away on him and blew up on his workbench, killing Valier and burning his workshop down. • Thomas Andrews was the chief naval architect for the R.M.S. Titanic and it was his honor to accompany the ship on its maiden voyage. Andrews was aware of the Titanic’s vulnerability in ice-laden waters and originally called for the Titanic to be double-hulled and equipped with forty-six lifeboats, instead of the twenty it actually carried. He was overruled due to cost constraints. When the Titanic struck the iceberg on April 15, 1912, Andrews heroically helped many people into the lifeboats. He was last seen in the firstclass smoking lounge, weeping. His body was never recovered. To be contiued next month...

Capricorn, it looks like November 2017 has a lot to offer you the LOVE front. Amorous opportunities are falling at your feet; get out and about now is a great time to meet ‘the one’. During November 2017 Mars makes waves on the work front: you will be feeling very ambitious, the will to succeed and that competitive spirit will be back where it’s be lacking recently. Mars gets involved and this could make you see red on occasions. In order to avoid conflicts, set honorable objectives for yourself and fight fair and with patience in order to reach them! When it comes to money, the regular sources of income don’t bring you particular satisfaction this month, but you might benefit from other sources. In order to avoid complications you should manage your resources judiciously and rest accordingly. Recharge your batteries when you can December is going to be a busy month for you! Aquarians, Venus and Jupiter in your sign are bringing with them a breeze of luck. It’s as if a fairy godmother is trying to set you straight on the path to happiness. But you’ll have to be a little bit flexible. In the case of many Aquarians there’s chance of a joint achievement or of your partner reaching success. November is the month of maximum luck on the work front. Bosses like you, people are doing you favours, connections help you enter higher circles, and your personal charm and talent propel you forward. But beyond the hand of luck are your efforts to rise to a level that allows you to gain respect and notoriety. The combination of luck and personal hard work is unbeatable and will bring you the much-longed-for success. November 2017 will be generous with financial regard expect the euros to be rolling in. Attend as many festivities and social events as you can because they can turn out to bring you luck! Pisces, with Mercury and Saturn in your sign this month, November 2017 issues related to your home life could raise an ugly head. You are feeling frustration with your partners over the smallest things. These feeling will ease over the month and by the last weeks you’ll be back to your happy go lucky self. Mercury is in your skies during November 2017 your professional life entails more communication than usual Travels bring success and profit, or luck can come from far-away places. You’re very active when it comes to money and can enhance your income, but only provided you not rush or take risks. You’re in reasonably good shape, by and large. But your mood could fluctuate you should try to relax. Start studying something that interests you, but that at some other point seemed difficult to manage! Aries, this month your priorities are heading towards matters of the heart. Everything related to being a couple stands out, drives, and challenges you. You strive to set things on the desired path. And it’s likely you’ll succeed, because Venus and Mars have a special connection and it’s in your favour. First and foremost, November 2017 is a lucky month when it comes to money. The Sun-Venus-Jupiter triplet promises extra income or other forms of material gain, particularly beginning with the second week of November. During this term, collaborations play a significant role in your professional life and in improving income. During November 2017 you’re not in top shape when it comes to vitality, but due to your nature you have a loving of excess, you’ll probably do well as long as you manage your resources carefully. Taurus, November 2017 comes with attractive offers for you. The Sun and Venus are in your sign and this configuration is as promising as can be when it comes to luck in love or marriage, happiness and harmony in the relationship. You’re dealt very good cards, but it’s up to you how you play them. Maybe you should be more daring and determined. Mars and Pluto are in your sign this month and are keeping you busy. You are forced to work under pressure with potential conflicts or other kinds of issues at work. The final results are positive though and you can achieve something special or be offered an opportunity you didn’t see coming. November 2017 is an interesting month health wise favorable in many respects – but it can induce an energetic imbalance. You should curve your tendency toward excesses and manage your stress as best as you can.
Gemini, with Mercury in your skies this November 2017 the emphasis falls on relationships. If you are single now is a great time to get yourself back in the dating game. Work and love seem to be intertwined this month there’s a connection between feelings and duties. It’s not out of the question you’ll have an affair with someone from work. On the work front during November the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter join hands to make what astrologers call the best conjunction. So expect some significant professional achievement or just expect to work with a lot of pleasure and for your results to be handsomely rewarded or to give you other kinds of satisfaction. Collaborations are significant for Geminians throughout November 2017. You should enjoy great energy this month why not take us a new sport or outdoor pursuit anything you take up at this time will become a great favourite.

With Jupiter and Venus in your skies this November 2017 is a good month for buying or renting a house expanding or improving where you live. Professionally, November is good for standing up for something, for holding conferences or debates, for vigorous intellectual effort. Other than that, it’s all action, a lot of motion, and travel. You are in pretty good shape during the first two weeks of November 2017 and in excellent shape during the last week. Stress is what gives you discomfort. Other than that, it’s all good and well. November 2017 does wonders for the mind. The transit of the Sun-Venus-Jupiter trio brings success on the work front you can engineer your own success but there’s risk of making rushed decisions. It would be better to abstain from speculation. Attempts to earn quick and easy money could result in loss. Use your smarts and persuasiveness – they are at their best during this term!
Libra, during November 2017 there is a fantastic transit through your sign, which means that love comes your way, seeks you out, and awaits you. All you have to do is look around more carefully and receive the signals sent your way. Whether you’re in a relationship or want one, things related to love life are coming your way this month! You are in excellent shape during November 2017, all in all a fab month for you! Scorpio, during November 2017 you have very good reason to think you are one of the happiest people on the planet. Venus makes a splendid conjunction with Jupiter. There couldn’t be a better combination when it comes to love, cheerfulness, and the joys of life! Now is the time to start a new relationship, to strengthen the current one, to conquer or get back together with someone. The stars are on your side during November 2017. Because odds are excellent for you to get what you want. During the first two weeks of November the Sun is precisely in your skies. It’s a good sign that foretells a term during which your qualities stand out, your efforts are appreciated, and your chances at success improve. Your morale is excellent this month and you also have plenty of energy, so there’s nothing to complain about. Sagittarius, Mercury enters your sign on November 5th 2017, and is full of good intentions. It makes you more interested in a relationship or in your partner, pushes you to seek more intimacy, to have a greater desire to do all sorts of things together with your better half. But November 2017 also has a side, which speaks of potential happiness that could be secret, hidden, maybe forbidden. Mercury gives you a greater interest in how well your career is going and, just like in the case of relationships, things can lead to analysis that can result in a decision. Throughout November how well you do when it comes to money depends on professional decisions, but luck has its role as well a positive one, happily! You should rest and relax when you can to get back to the energy you need to be a better you.

A famous art collector is walking through the city when he notices a mangy cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a shop and he does a double take. He recognises that the saucer is extremely old and very valuable, so he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the cat for a couple of quid. The storeowner replies “I’m sorry, but the cat isn’t for sale. The collector says, “Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch mice. I’ll pay you twenty quid for that cat.” And the owner says “Sold,” and hands over the cat. The collector continues, “Hey, for the twenty quid I wonder if you could throw in that old saucer. The cat’s used to it and it’ll save me from having to get a dish.” The owner says, “Sorry mate, but that’s my lucky saucer. So far this week I’ve sold sixty-eight cats.” While browsing around a department store, a man spotted a Thermos flask; He had never seen one before, so he asked the sales assistant what it did. The assistant replied: “It’s keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.” Impressed, the man bought one. The next day, he took the Thermos to work and showed it off to a colleague. “Look at this, he said. It’s called a Thermos flask. It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.” “What have you got in there?” asked his workmate. The man said: “Two cups of coffee and a choc ice.”

awful” she says. “It was,” he says, “For the next 14 holes it was drive, drag George, chip, drag George, putt, drag George...”
Two female teachers accompanied a group of third, forth and fifth year students on a field trip to the local racecourse to learn about thoroughbred horses. During the tour some of the children need to go to the toilet, so it was decided that the girls would go with one teacher while the boys went with another. As the teacher assigned to the boys waited outside the men’s toilet, one of the boys came out and told her that he couldn’t reach the urinal. Reluctantly the teacher went inside and began hoisting the little boys up by their armpits, one by one. As she lifted one up by the armpits, she couldn’t help noticing that he was unusually well endowed for a primary school child. “I guess you must be in the fifth?” she said. “No, ma’am,” he replied. “I’m in the seventh, riding Linda’s Legacy. Thanks for the lift anyway.”
