Book Launch For Museum

Ancient House is pleased to be hosting the launch of a brand-new children’s book telling the story of Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, sister of Prince Frederick Duleep Singh who founded the museum. The launch will be on Saturday 8 January with a talk by author Sufiya Ahmed followed by a chance to ask questions and get your book signed. My Story: Princess Sophia Duleep Singh is the thrilling story of the princess and suffragette. Born in Britain to Indian and Egyptian parents, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh was a prominent suffragette and campaigned for the women’s right to vote. Khan and Under the Great Plum Tree which was endorsed by Amnesty International and longlisted for the UK Literacy Association Book Awards.

Author Sufiya Ahmed worked in advertising and in the House of Commons before becoming a full-time author. In 2010 she set up the BIBI Foundation, which arranges visits to the Houses of Parliament for children from underprivileged backgrounds. Sufiya has written several children's books including My Story: Noor-Un-Nissa Inayat
