Unit Objectives On completion of this unit you will:

1 Know about organisations in the art and design industry 2 Know about job roles in the art and design industry.

Brief Overview: For this first brief of the unit you will be able to identify how organisations operate in the Art & Design Industry and list the job roles which are found within the industry. You will be able to describe the characteristics / qualities of the various job roles. The work will be done by Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design


research initially and the information presented in your journals and on A1 worksheets with supporting imagery. In weeks 3 & 4 your will work in pairs

To achieve a Merit for this unit you will need to explain how organisations operate and explain what form the job roles take. Therefore you will need to look more in depth.

To achieve a Distinction for this unit you need to display independence, fluency and be able to make your own informed conclusions.

Tasks.

Week 1: Create a mind map of as many jobs as you can in the Art & Design Industry on A1. (P1, P2). Use the LLC / Laptops to research further and build on your mind map. (P1, P2). Find out as many different jobs as possible and support these with images. (P1, P2). Describe what people do in these jobs alongside images. (P3). Week 2: Continue to use the LLC / Laptops to research further and build on your mind map. (P1, P2). Find out as many different jobs as possible within Art & Design. (P1, P2). Week 3&4: Working in Pairs research further into 5 parts of the industry. (P1,M1,D1) Groups - Georgia and Connor, Jo and Fenton, Darren and Ayrton. Find companies and research what they specifically do in relation to the areas of work chosen.(P2,P3,M2,D2). See suggested research. Produce A1 sheets of information for each one with images and supporting text. (P1,P2,P3,M1,M2,D1,D2) Group Discussion and comparison of the jobs. Outcome/s: Research notes in your journal supported by images, any print outs from websites etc in a ring binder. Mind map of jobs on A1. A1 worksheets of notes and supporting images. Each pair will have 5 x A1 sheets related to various parts of the industry. Final Group Discussion on the industries studied with where appropriate informed conclusions.

Resource Requirements: Full Art box. You need as a group to source your materials appropriate to what you are doing. Studio resources will be available. Laptops booked from IT as appropriate. Health and Safety: You will need to use your understanding of health and safety to maintain a safe and secure environment and act responsibly yourselves and with others in your team as well as the other groups and lecturers. You should ensure that you follow the health and safety rules within the studio and college setting, creating an environment that is empathetic to those around you.
