Objectives: Be able to use 2D mark-making techniques Be able to communicate design ideas using 2D visual communication techniques Be able to use formal elements in 2D visual communication. Steps: Step 1: Diploma in Art & Design level 2

First we are going to do a bit of speed dating‌. In your sketchbook produce a mind map of ways in which you can do mark making based from the processes you have gathered during speed dating. Support the descriptive words with the technique. (P2, M3, D3) Step 2: Take your A1 paper and mark out 20 equal areas as shown

Step 3: Write your name on the back of the sheet before starting work. This will ensure we find your work on the drying rack once your work has dried. Step 4: Write the word that you are describing at the top of each box. Step 5: Use mark making to draw / describe each word in turn. Be experimental! (P1, P3, M1, M2, D1, D2) Step 6: In your journal explain what mark making technique you have used.( P2, M3, D3) Outcomes: Mind map in sketchbook of different ways you can make marks. A1 sheet with 20 drawings. Suggested Reading/ Research: Artists/ Designers: Cy Twombley, Matthew Ritchie, Dan Perjovschi Books: Look at General art books in the library and begin finding artists that you like and keep a note in your sketchbook / journal.
