Midwifery

Course information Midwifery BSc (Hons) UCAS code: B720 www.coventry.ac.uk/ug/B720 Study option: 3 years full-time Overview Helping mothers bring new life into the world must surely be one of the most rewarding professions. Midwives play a pivotal role in supporting the health and wellbeing of women and their families in all stages of pregnancy, childbirth and the early postnatal period. While there are lots of opportunities for midwives to work on antenatal, labour and postnatal wards and neonatal units in hospitals, more midwives also now work in the community, providing services in women’s homes, local clinics, children’s centres and GP surgeries. You will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of an experienced midwife, who will support you to manage a small caseload during the course. You’ll be encouraged to develop the clinical and care skills to become a professional midwife who can soundly analyse a woman’s needs, plan an appropriate care programme and then implement it safely, effectively and sensitively.
