Kaspersky... “In an online banking system, customer computers make up the most vulnerable element, which is exploited by cybercriminals to conduct most of the thefts. We kept this in mind when developing Safe Money for Banks. Our product can effectively block all types of threats that bank customers may face while working with their finances online,” added Grebennikov. In a global survey conducted by Kaspersky Lab jointly with B2B International in summer 2013, 14 per cent of respondents (in the UAE 17 percent) admitted using unprotected Wi-Fi connections to access online banking and shopping services. According to the company, about the same percentage (and even higher in the UAE – 23 percent) were convinced that bank fraud is an extremely rare phenomenon, when in fact, bank fraud affects millions of people worldwide each year. At the same time, the

“We currently focus on working directly with Banks and selling this solution to minimise fraud and it is compatible to other anti-malware products and this is a first step for us in the portfolio of anti-fraud.” survey found that approximately 62 per cent of users (the figure is 69 per cent in the UAE) had faced at least one financial cyber threat in the preceding 12 months. “The region is one of the priority areas for us. For this region, we think anti-fraud solutions have potential to have big success here. There is a lot of importance for security in this region. go-to-market strategy, while previewing and launching several new cloud services from leading technology vendors. “We are pleased to participate in the largest technology event in the region and lead the way in the adoption of cloud computing practices. We aim to do this by educating and showcasing how value added resellers (VARs), managed service providers (MSPs) and solution providers (SPs) can monetise the cloud using innovative go-to-market strategies, solutions and services,” said Ali Baghdadi, President, Ingram Micro Middle East, Africa & Turkey region. In addition, Aptec will demonstrate its highly anticipated Cloud Website, an online platform where solution providers and resellers can obtain detailed

product information, access marketing and sales collateral and get up to date on the new cloud business reality. “Ingram Micro stands alone as the IT industry’s leading services aggregator and strives to ensure our channel partners are leading the market and driving positive change for their customers by offering best-in-class technology solutions and cloud services,” he added. According to Baghdadi, the ICT event is the ideal platform to showcase its cloud offering. “Given its strong track record in optimising channel partners’ ability to shape and refine cloud service strategies, as well as generate new ideas and adopt proven business practices that will optimise sales performance and profitability potential,” said Baghdadi.

Brams plans to add ERP to its portfolio The cloud service provider, Brams is looking at growing and adding ERP, a new product to its portfolio by early next year, it said at the annual ICT event being held at Dubai World Trade Centre – GITEX Technology Week 2013. “We are expecting at least 100 percent growth from next year onwards, this is our core plan. We also want to add some more cloud services into the portfolio. And we are looking at adding ERP by early next year and hope to partner with a cloud based ERP vendor as there is a lot of interest in the market,” explains Prramhod Shetty, Regional Sales Director, Brams.

The company, growing at a fast rate, sees significant interest in the Middle East region on cloud services and has educated the market on its benefits. The company considers bringing confidence towards cloud as a part of its business. “We see a lot of enterprises that are more than 500 users and below 2000 users taking active interest in cloud-based applications such as project management and work flow. We are looking at going to the midmarket and also the enterprise customer, though our major focus is on enterprise. We also hope to

add more partners in each existing region and newer markets,” he adds. According to Shetty, there is a lot of interest for Google Chrome books, which is a cloud enabled product coming from Google, with sole interest in Education. “A lot of universities are showing interest. They are connecting that with their BYOD strategy. Chrome book allows them to bring BYOD technology at a low cost. At GITEX, we are showcasing all the products such as Google apps, Google maps, Google Search appliance, Chrome books and BI tool among others,” Shetty says.

SYSTAN showcases Enterprise Server 7 At GITEX, the French company is showcasing its SYSTRAN Enterprise, which is a powerful machine translation solution that offers fully secure, real-time translation across all enterprise sites and applications. Today’s enterprises are increasingly international, with employees, clients or partners spread all around the world working in different languages. But while these global structures offer many benefits, they can also present a lot of risks, such as breaches in confidentiality, lack of compliance or even worse, cyber security vulnerabilities. Moreover, information security incidents keep on rising as cyber

criminals increase their focus on both large and small businesses, making the cost of security breaches rise dramatically. In that context, information security is one of the major concerns for global IT Departments. Because employees want to work better and faster, they are translating information every day. In an effort to be resourceful, they are likely to look for effective but unsecure tools like webbased machine translation services. Such practices put intellectual property and sensitive information at risk with potential for heavy financial damages. By providing enterprises with a centralized translation server directly

on site, along with a complete range of high-performance tools for effective management of translation projects, SYSTRAN Enterprise Server 7 offers fully secure, real-time translation across all enterprise sites and applications. It can be seamlessly integrated with any Collaboration Tools and be

deployed on a corporate intranet, allowing employees to translate emails, presentations, corporate documents or web pages without breach of confidentiality. Benefiting from immediate understanding of multilingual information, they are ready to communicate more effectively.

GITEX preview: Dell Middle East

Dave Brooke, GM Dell Middle East What is the main theme of your presence at GITEX this year? Dell will unveil its latest array of enterprise solutions at GITEX, demonstrating how our cutting-edge technology can help Middle East businesses manage and scale their IT operations. We will demonstrate how Dell’ssolution capabilities that span the client to the datacentre to the cloud can help companies and organisations with the business and technology challenges they are facing. Are you releasing/launching anything new at GITEX 2013? If so, what? At GITEX we are showcasing our client, enterprise, services and software offerings, including our latest offerings that enable customers to grow and expand their businesses. This includes PowerEdge VRTX servers, a unique converged solution that requires no

additional cooling system, and is designed specifically for small and/ or remote offices. It is a compact, integrated solution. It has two to four servers for virtualization and back-up, shared storage for high availability with extensive capacity for growth. It also has cost-effective I/O, and simplified systems management, all fit into a compact chassis that fits under a desk or countertop and can go into a rack as well. And it is quiet—really quiet. And affordable.” We’ll also be featuring several solutions from Dell;s recent acquisition withCompellent flash storage arrays; Quest Toad Business Intelligence Suite for self-service business intelligence; and Kitenga Analytics for managing big data analytics, Appassure data protection, Sonicwall next generation firewalls, Secureworks managed security services, KACE management solution, and many more. We are also highlightingour vertical offerings for three key sectors: oil and gas; education; and finance. In addition to this we plan to have a green, paperless stand at GITEX so any documents or contact information will be communicated to customers and partners exclusively through the use of technology. How is your company presenting itself at GITEX this year to differentiate it from competitors? The breadth of our portfolio makes us unique from other IT providers in the region. Dell offers end-to-end integrated infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, networking,

software and services. Customers at GITEX will be able to see for themselves how Dell’s technology can benefit their businesses. Dell experts will be on hand to answer questions on any of these product areas throughout the show. What are the key trends influencing your approach to GITEX 2013 and the offerings you are pushing? From talking and listening to our customers on a global basis, our view is that their technology priorities can be categorized into four key themes: Transform, Connect, Inform and Protect. These themes will be prevalent in the technology solutions that Dell demonstrates at GITEX. Transform: Managing legacy systems while moving to nextgeneration platforms without resorting to a ‘rip and replace’ strategy. For example, how does cloud integrate into an organisation’s IT strategy? Connect: Focusing on increased productivity by enabling the workforce to connect securely from anywhere, anytime and on any device. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is also a major theme as many organisations are challenged to support non-company supplied devices. Inform: Customers want to gain control of their data and use it to drive insights to gain a competitive advantage. This leads to a focus on storage, big data and analytics. With big data, organizations strive to become decision-making innovators that analyze data strategically to help predict customer behaviour and

market demand. Protect: This encompasses securing and protecting all aspects of the IT environment, from customers needing to define their security policies, processes and procedures, to connecting and authenticating into their environment, and ultimately to the services offered to help their CSO secure and monitor the entire ecosystem. Security is now a significant focus for all organisations. How have you seen the Middle East respond to those trends in question, and how did you think that will change over the next year? End-user virtualization has been a key trend amongst Middle East organizations looking to manage operations and distribute virtual workloads across their end-user devices. This is a trend that we see continuing into 2014 as more regionally-based companies begin to understand how they can benefit from a virtualized infrastructure. In addition, storage will remain a priority as organizations look for scalable environments that can store and analyse ever-growing amounts of data. The nature of compute and the data center is changing; customers are now faced with multiple, and often competing, models of how IT needs to be delivered. Customers increasingly tell us that legacy storage architectures no longer meet their needs. Ultimately, customers want to store, manage, retrieve and gain insight from their data in an easy and cost-effective fashion.
