Innovative Solutions: whack-a-mole syndrome perpetuates cyber-attacks

Saudi-based cybersecurity firm Innovative Solutions has warned that organisations are at risk of cyber-attacks due a reactionary approach that does not account for threats that are yet to affect them.

The firm’s SMS gateway, LinQ2, is its flagship product and is currently used by “80 percent” of the banking industry in the Middle East’s largest market, while Innovative Solutions launched its Dubai office six months ago. The firm now has a team of more than 120 consultants across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Loai Al Omari, the company’s vice president of cybersecurity services, believes the time is right to expand Innovative’s presence to the UAE, and that the region is now particularly in need of solutions that can reduce risks that the enterprise faces.

“A lot of organisations struggle with their cybersecurity efforts,”

ARTS Energy showcases latest battery solution ARTS Energy, which has made its GITEX debut this year, is showcasing its Ni-MH battery solution targeted at telecom and back up. The new battery called Endurance is said to be highly robust and offers long life duration at high temperature.

Considering telecom and back up applications, energy cabinets are generally equipped with lead-acid batteries offering acceptable life duration (around 5 years) in moderate climates (Europe, USA, Asia). But in hotter climates (Africa, Middle East and South America), those lead-acid batteries delivers poor life duration (sometimes less

than one year) even if the energy cabinet is equipped with air conditioning.

Consequently, in such areas, the cost for the battery maintenance (replacing the battery) becomes much higher compared to the cost of the initial battery delivered with the telecom and back ip cabinet.

Additionally, waiting for the leadacid battery to be replaced with a fresh one, the cost of “nonoperational� network is high, mainly in the field of telecom.

ARTS Energy says many telecom operators have measured the extra-cost generated by poor life duration

of lead-acid batteries in hot climates, and are looking for alternative battery technologies since a few years. But as the energy cabinets are equipped with a lead-acid rectifier, it is not possible to remove the lead-acid battery and replace it with a Ni-MH or Li-ion battery.

Huawei has announced at GITEX 2017 that its all flash storage OceanStor Dorado V3 is now certified as an enterprise storage solution for real-time database SAP HANA. According to the ICT firm, leveraging OceanStor Dorado V3 with SAP HANA offers outstanding performance and reliability to government, oil and gas, finance, public service and many other industries.

BIOS Middle East unveils Microsoft Azure Stack with Cisco

BIOS Middle East, a cloud service provider, is launching Azure Stack built on Cisco at GITEX 2017.

According to the firm, Azure Stack will provide the same look and feel as Azure while federating to Azure to take advantage of things such as Big Data Analytics,

development tools and Artificial Intelligence.

The stack, which comes with a fully managed service and security wrap around is available on a shared platform, Azure Stackas-a-Service or as a dedicated appliance, Azure Stack. The shared platform caters for SME’s while the dedicated platform is targeted towards enterprises.

Azure Stack-as-a-Service and Azure Stack unlocks the agility of cloud-based applications for incountry and on premise networks, delivering Azure services from BIOS’ data centres to customers in the Middle East, said the firm.
