Mimecast Cloud Archive is designed and optimised for the cloud, offering the scale, performance and advanced features needed to manage email.

The new solution includes new and enhanced features focusing on e-discovery, which helps users simplify administrative searches. It also has the Sync & Recover feature, which makes archive always-available and safe from data loss or corruption. This allows organisations seamlessly restore their Outlook data including email, personal folders, calendar entries and contacts.

“Traditional archiving solutions tend to be complex, expensive and requires a lot of resources for monitoring it,” said Bekker. “Mimecast is offering Cloud Archive at a fixed and

reasonable cost, it’s simple to use, secure and very easy to manage.

“Another major differentiator of Cloud Archive is its quick search time. As our platforms grow, we made sure that our archive speeds up from a search point of view. We have highly usable mobile applications that give users fast interaction and access to their email archives,” added Bekker.

In addition, with the implementations of new requirements for data governance, Bekker said that Cloud Archive has been designed with an emphasis on data integrity, availability, and privacy.

There are number of sectors that are benefitting from cloud computing and digital transformation where we are seeing great growth, from startups through to enterprises and government institutions. Take transport for instance. In the UAE, flydubai is using cloud technology for their online check-in platform.

Using AWS, they went from design to production in four months and thousands of passengers a day are now using the technology - this timeline would not have been possible without the cloud.

Given the seasonal fluctuations in demand for flights, flydubai also needs an IT provider that

allows it to cope with spikes in demand. Using AWS allows them to do this and lead times for new infrastructure services have been reduced from up to 10 weeks to a matter of hours.

We are also seeing great adoption of cloud in financial services, hospitality, media and entertainment, oil and gas, retail, and many more sectors.

The new AWS Middle East (Bahrain) Region will consist of three Availability Zones at launch. This will bring flexible, affordable, reliable, and secure cloud computing technologies close to end users in the Middle East. This will help organisations speed up their digital transformation initiatives and more rapidly innovate for the citizens of the region. We also announced we will launch an AWS Edge Network Location in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the first quarter of 2018. This will bring Amazon CloudFront, Amazon Route 53, AWS Shield, and AWS WAF to the region and adds to our 84 points of presence we already have around the world.

Ruijie Networks forays into Middle East

The Chinese networking vendor Ruijie Networks has made its GITEX debut, showcasing its entire portfolio of products including switches, routers and WLAN access points.

“Many people in the region have not heard of us but we are one of the top networking vendors in China with a huge market share in key verticals such as government, telecom, education, hospitality and finance. Last year, we ventured out beyond China and started exploring opportunities in international markets. We are in the process of setting up a local office in Dubai now to address the whole Middle East market, “ says Robin Lee, GM-EMEA of Ruijie Networks.

Linksys launches gaming specific router

After extensive consumer research, Linksys identified the needs of a high-level gamer, and found that the professional gamers now require professional equipment if they are to maximise their experience in this increasingly popular market.

“Research by Newszoo’s Global Gaming Market Report indicates gamers in the Middle East and Africa could generate a massive $4 billion in revenue this year, and that is growing 26 percent year on year,” said Amanullah Khan, Managing Director, Linksys, Middle East, Turkey and Africa. “In terms of revenue, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the top gaming markets

in the region, which makes us especially excited to showcase the WRT32X at GITEX here in Dubai.”

In addition, Linksys is showcasing its latest range of mesh routers, which were initially launched in March this year. This latest series comes with updated features, such as giving users the ability to block specific apps on specific devices, as well as including an enhanced graphic user interface.

Linksys is also promoting its SMB portfolio of products, as the company sees this as a fast growing area. “We’re building our SMB products from the groundup, rather than trying to strip down enterprise-level products to make them suitable for the SMB market,” said Khan. “We have invested heavily in conducting research around the needs of

SMB leaders so that we can ensure our portfolio is specifically tailored to suit them.”

Linksys is also launching its online partner programme, enabling partners to access a single window where they can track their performance, access sales and marketing tools surrounding Linksys’ products, and sign up for online training sessions.

Returning to GITEX this year “aligns with the company’s vision around sparking innovation through technology,” said Khan. “We really believe in this event, and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to gather both partners and customers under one roof across the five days of the event. It also provides us with exposure to potential collaborations from outside of the Gulf region.”
