Prestigio targets education and business with new solutions

WHAT’S INSIDE Prestigio has used GITEX Technology Week 2013 to announce its new solutions line for classrooms, offices and public places.

Making up the core platform of the solutions are multitouch LED screens of various sizes, combined with numerous software packages. Together they provide a unified experience of handwriting, collaboration, interactive advertising and wireless communications with smartphones and tablets.

Prestigio Solutions are specifically oriented towards education, meetings and conferences, and digital signage.

Apart from reaching out to as many customers as possible with its next-generation firewall and BYOD solutions, it also plans to further enhance other offerings such as email security in 2014.

“Even with BYOD in its initial stages, there is a huge potential for us because every organisation is ready to adopt BYOD at some point in time,” Sheikh added.

The company is also looking at launching the new Dell partner programme in the next quarter.

“We work in a two-tier model, through our distribution landscape and through our channel partners,” Sheikh said.

“Starting next month is the new Dell partner programme with our legacy partners as well as new ones, which will have all the benefits of the legacy programme and also other added benefits.”

The company will also expand to markets such as Turkey and focus on Levant countries while continuing to enable partners with new solutions in primary markets such as UAE, Oman, KSA and Qatar.

The MultiBoards come in a range of different screen sizes: 42” (106 cm), 55” (140 cm), 65” (165 cm), 70” (178cm) with full HD display resolution; and 84” (214 cm) with 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840x2160 pixels).

The all-in-one PC is not just hardware; it accommodates versatile software designed to increase efficiency, interaction, and additional modes of delivery

of informationin both business and education.

According to Presigio, this means no more dull printed pages, blackboards, external PC or projectors, but instead the MultiBoard brings colour, image, sound, interaction and dynamics in a single unit.

The software includes a set of preinstalled applications developed specifically for the MultiBoard, including Prestigio EasiNote, Prestigio EasiMeeting, Prestigio Easishow and Prestigio EasiSign.

According to Prestigio, these programmes provide new ways of collaborative work, reducing the barrier between the presenter

and the audience, teacher and students. The presenter is able to create and rapidly customise objects from a range of existing content, and adapt it to the needs of the presentation in real time. Handwriting is natural and comfortable on Prestigio MultiBoards and text recognition provides great user experience, the company added.

Through the mClass application, the Prestigio MultiBoard can communicate wirelessly with Prestigio MultiPads and MultiPhones, or any Android tablets and smartphones, facilitating student-teacher interaction. Interactive testing of the entire class where student

submits their answer via their Android phone can rapidly provide learner feedback, Prestigio said.

It added that with the solutions it is aiming to improve business and make education efficient and productive.

Wacom also showcased its Intuos Pro pen tablets which encompass high-tech capabilities including intuitive multi-touch and fine precision. With professional software and top-notch features, the tablet proves to be attractive for industry professionals. The

tablet is available in three sizes – Intuos PRO S, Intuos Pro M, and Intuos Pro L – leaving users spoilt for choice. Other general specifications of the Intuos Pro pen tablets include: USB, Wireless RF, Wacom Touch Technology – capable of detecting up to 10 fingers, and Pen Technology – cordless, battery-free pen.

Alexander added: “As the industry has transitioned towards mobile, we have entered into the mobile space as well. We now offer tablets across Windows and Android platforms. Our solutions range from the stylus pens to tablets to B2B products – including signature solutions

Finally, Wacom’s Cintiq Companion was another popular device on-display at its GITEX stand. This Windows 8 creative tablet offers a high-performance user experience. Ideal for creative users, the tablet comes with a Walcom Pro Pen and has multitouch capabilities. Some of its other features include: Cameras front and back – 2MP in the front and 8MP on the back, two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options.

SanDisk focuses on Africa at GITEX Flash storage vendor SanDisk this week used GITEX to reaffirm its commitment to the African market, having exhibited with distributor Mitsumi.

Mitsumi covers 27 African countries for SanDisk, meaning it made sense for the vendor to push its African agenda alongside the distributor, according to Tareq Husseini, Regional Sales Director, SanDisk.

“This is where we really see the next frontier for flash memory. As you know, Africa is home to about 800 million people – it’s a huge population and a huge market,” he told 60 Minutes.

SanDisk’s opportunity in Africa largely comes from the mobile space, he added. Across the continent, mobile broadband is quickly becoming more pervasive than fixed-line broadband, and cheap smartphones and feature

phones – which require reasonably priced flash storage - are selling in strong numbers.

“In Africa, we see the opportunity particularly in the mobile space, where mobile

phones are now in the hands of so many millions in Africa. Today, you can get a very nice, Androidpowered phone that has all the functionalities you need – camera, applications, music, recording and HD video – for less than $30. The opportunity for us is now greater than ever, and people are using the microSD to really enhance the phone,” Husseini said.

His words come off the back of a Spring visit to the region by SanDisk CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, who used the visit to highlight the importance of the African market to the vendor.

“Now we have regional offices in Nairobi for East Africa, we’re bringing support personnel to North Africa in Nigeria, and in South Africa, we’re developing the market very nicely. We’re really putting a lot of effort into Africa,” Husseini explained about the drive

into this emerging continent.

Despite SanDisk’s push into Africa, though, the vendor has in no way forgotten about the Middle East, Husseini hastened to add. He explained that the Middle Eastern market was evolving into something different now, and that SanDisk’s efforts in the region were helping to cater to this evolution.

“The Middle East right now is going to the next level of consumer experience. We’re giving the consumer more than just memory – we’re giving them the solution, the cutting-edge in technology. The customers are looking for 4K recording, they’re looking for the highestend photography experience, and that’s where SanDisk comes in. We’re really supporting the Middle East from that perspective,” he said.

how did you think that will change over the next year?

Middle East markets have been receptive to new technologies and products as long as they are technically superior. SNB is very confident of being successful in promoting all its products, since all are bestin-class and very popular worldwide.

We have had a series of achievements. For products, we have signed up with some leading IT brands, like Nexsan, Enterasys, Proxim, Mobotix, Axxonsoft, Tandberg Data and Seclore. In terms of territory, we have set up our offices in Doha,Qatar, and Nairobi, Kenya, and are on the verge of setting up operations in Saudi Arabia.
