Industry experts have predicted that by integrating the 4G network with rail transportation, ZTE can boost global rail transportation development.

Fluke discusses survey results at GITEX

Fluke Networks are using GITEX to discuss results of a survey reveals that less than 40% of Middle Eastern businesses are adopting cloud; with an additional 22% on the verge of implementing the technology across the region.

Furthermore, 45% of firms prefer a hybrid cloud system, whereas 30% prefer private, while 25% of them have no problem in opting for public cloud environment.

The survey also revealed that over the course of the next 12 months about 40% of regional businesses are looking to implement major cloud and

virtualisation initiatives, along with new application implementations, with a further 12% in the planning stages.

The survey also indicated that 60% of Middle East business establishments raised concern over the security and access to data as key obstacles to adopting cloud.

Also, network downtime was a major concern as 56% of the companies were reluctant to take up cloud services. Legislation concerns gripped 15% of the regions businesses, as 45% questioned where the data servers

would reside.

The regional survey conducted over a period of time, looked at different industry verticals including government, IT, engineering, FMCG, construction, automotive, oil and gas, manufacturing and education.

A worrisome matter for Fluke Networks is that more than 65% of businesses have experienced or suffered 2 to 5 network slowdown or outages in the past 12 months.

This could seriously affect the efficiency of the organisation, and more importantly, impact bottom line results.

Batelco and Ericsson agree network deal

Bahraini communications provider Batelco and Ericsson have extended their long-standing partnership by signing a new transformation agreement.

The two partners have announced the new network enhancement programme, which is designed to meet the growing customer demand for increasingly powerful mobile services.

The major transformation work is part of Batelco’s ongoing strategy to enhance its networks and keep them on par with the highest international standards.

The major project will see the upgrade of Batelco’s 4G Network to provide faster mobile Broadband connections for its subscribers and improved voice quality, plus a set of new services and offers. Additionally, the Network will be expanded to cover new areas across the country.
