SAP enhances lifecycle support SAP AG had officially entered the Middle East market with the acquisition of SAP Arabia in 2007 and has been exhibiting at GITEX since then,” Wail Farhat, Sr. Manager Maintenance Go-toMarket, SAP MENA said.

“When it comes to maintenance, SAP intends to offer its customers much more than what the other vendors are doing in the market. We offer three tiers of solutions support to our clients – proactive support, reactive support and platform support,” he added. ”Our motto is to offer a comprehensive support with maximum innovation and minimum disruption.”

SAP aims to offer a comprehensive solution support that would eliminate the hassle of

running software upgrade every five-to-seven years, which also costs disruption to the business.

In 2010, the company announced enhancement packages that served to provide customers enhanced functionalities at minimum cost – the lifecycle of mainstream maintenance support extended to Suite 7 and SAPHANA powered Business Suite was increased from 2016 to 2020, Farhat said.

Cisco shapes the future with IoT Cisco’s main theme at the ICT event, GITEX Technology Week 2014 is around Internet of Everything (IoE).

announcement concerns the pricing of SAP enterprise support – the solution was introduced in 2008 with 22 percent service charges built into the price. The prices were frozen till 2016 initially – the commitment has been extended to 2020 for existing contracts for enterprise support.

For new purchases, the prices that are inclusive of service charges will be fixed till 2025,” he added.

With increased lifecycle support on mainstream maintenance and a price commitment on other enterprise support services, SAP intends to let its customers bring stability to their businesses and ready their business for cloud that will set the trend for Middle East over the next few years.

Seagate unveils NAS offerings

Seagate marked its GITEX debut by unveiling a new portfolio of Networked Attached Storage (NAS) solutions that can be set up

and managed without dedicated IT staff.

The new portfolio includes five products, and is the biggest product launch the company has ever mounted in the business NAS space.

The Seagate NAS and Seagate NAS Pro lines are introducing a new operating system, NAS OS 4, together with hardware specifically designed for small businesses. The latest products come in a range of storage capacities from 2TB to 30TB. Lance Ohara, Senior Director, Product Line Management, Retail, Seagate, is keen to push the products to the Middle East market. “In the EMEA region we are seeing huge pockets of

growth,” he says. “In most of Western Europe the markets are already established, but the Middle East presents a great opportunity.

Our NAS offerings are perfect for Middle Eastern SMEs looking for a seamless way to manage their storage.”

Building on the success of its operating system, Seagate has debuted the next generation with NAS OS 4. Now with a redesigned Device Manager, users can manage preferences and configure settings from a single location.

It also includes App Manager and Seagate Sdrive for remote access.

Each NAS is populated with Seagate’s NAS HDD drives in capacities up to 5TB.

We have partnered with Value Added Resellers (VARs), and Certified Value Added Distributors (CVADs), so they are able to serve major geographies in the region. We are 100% channel-oriented in this region and our channel partners are our greatest asset. Our business strategy is concentrated around strengthening our channel partner network and expanding our product portfolio so it can deliver better margins to our partners. We intend to invest heavily in resources that can create a healthy channel network in this region; for example, a few months ago, we launched our new partner portal that includes incentives for our channel partners, which will provide many benefits to them.

What does your company hope to achieve at the end of Gitex?

The Middle East region is a growing market with huge potential for IT security. There are many countries with emerging economies that will keep the growth moving forward for some time.

Also, more mature economies like UAE and KSA have huge demand for new technologies and services. Overall, we see a great potential in this region; however, at the same time the market is highly competitive.

Our main focus remains on strengthening the channel, expanding, and enhancing our product portfolio that will deliver better margins for our partners.

We plan to invest in awareness and visibility for our brand through marketing campaigns, participating in major events like GITEX. In addition, our business plan aims to help our vendor partners expand their reach across the region. Geographic expansion is also part of our business strategy this year.

“Our primary focus is to invite end user customers to experience our product live at GITEX. We have had a joint stand with CPI Media for over the last four years. GITEX provides us a great platform, because in the course of five days we print about 100,000 A4 coloured pages live at the show and gives us a chance to evaluate the market reception, which has been really positive. We have been a part of this event for over ten years. GITEX has professionalised more over the course of the years.�
