According to Quraishi, ixtel isn’t a hard selling organisation, its techniques involve referenceability and case studies. “A lot of our work is about getting in front of our customers and demonstrating what we do. We work at a commercial level so it’s all about what the customer’s business really needs and the business case that underpins that.

“We’ve built our own model that we use with clients where we can input customer information and numbers to have a look at the business case output and the return on investment level for clients. It’s always about the

customer, and no two customers are the same. Every customer solution is bespoke and different.”

The CEO attributes the company’s success to designing the solutions based around the customer. “It’s not about what we are selling, it’s about what the customer wants.”

Quraishi believes in the coming months ‘cyber implications’ such as cyber security and data privacy considerations will be high on the list for all organisations.

“Other trends that could potentially disrupt the way businesses engage their customers will include ambient computing, amplified intelligence, software-defined everything.”

The Ministry of Health launched a group of smart services during GITEX Technology Week 2015.

H.E. Awad Al Katbi, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services, commended the importance of GITEX as a strategic platform for showcasing the latest smart services, pointing that the Ministry offers smart services in support of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

H.E. Al Katbi said, “We look forward to employing these smart tools in the best ways to save the time and effort of patients and allow them to enjoy world-class services. They are our own contributions to the shift towards a smart government and the development of the UAE as one of the

best countries in the world.”

The Smart Patient Portal provide the public with a highly secure website for viewing their health records and checking laboratory results, documents, vaccination, medicine, and health problems, among others. Users can also browse through details of their upcoming appointments with the option of linking the schedule to their personal calendars and other accounts.

Mubaraka M. Ali Ibrahim, Director, Health Information Systems Department, Ministry of Health said, “The user-friendly Smart Patient Portal can be accessed through various smart devices. Medical results appear in the portal as soon as the system passes on the medical analysis from health centres and Ministry hospitals. Users can download reports and files for reference or for printing.”

Pulse Secure flaunts mobility solutions

Toshiba is focusing on innovation and the Internet of Things (IoT) at GITEX Technology Week.

Toshiba’s Digital products and Services division is using the event to introduce the full catalogue of its latest products and enterprise solutions.

The 30th anniversary of Toshiba’s mobile computing business has prompted an evolving H/W+ strategy.

The Toshiba Cloud Client Manager - a cloud-based solution that manages IT endpoints – as well as its mobile device management solutions will be on display.

Toshiba will unveil its Zero Client Secured solution that allows business users to save sensitive data to a secure server, and will also exhibit its business laptops and storage solutions from Nimble – the flash platform that uses storage architecture along with disk properties.

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is introducing and linking its Big Data analytics solutions through the application of advanced data analytics, connected intelligence from IoT devices, and operational technologies for the very first time during GITEX 2015.

As part of their presence at the exhibition, HDS is highlighting the build-up into social innovation solutions. With a number of recent acquisitions such as Pentaho, the company is also unveiling a unifying element that will pave the

BlackBerry showcases cloud-based mobility solution

What will you be doing special at this year’s Gitex and what are you showcasing?

At GITEX 2015, we will be primarily showcasing the BlackBerry BES12 Cloud in addition to BES12 on-premise. BES12 Cloud is a cloud-based enterprise mobility management solution that offers easy management of iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry 10 smartphones and tablets, as well as a wide range of Samsung KNOX and Android for Work smartphones and tablets. In addition to BES12 Cloud, EMS is now also offering Enhanced SIM-Based Licensing (ESBL) by BlackBerry, BlackBerry Technical Support Services and BlackBerry’s Value Added Services.

BlackBerry subsidiary company, QNX, is showcasing its concept car,

a Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG, that features the latest QNX infotainment system, combining infotainment, acoustics, and cloud technology to create a matchless user-experience even when on the move. QNX by BlackBerry’ is already deployed in more than 60 million vehicles worldwide, from most of the largest automotive vendors. This concept car will be at Etisalat’s stand in Zabeel Hall.

The telco’s stand will also feature the Formula One show car of team Mercedes AMG Petronas, which combines the latest in automotive technology with the focus on speed, efficiency and micro-second performance. If you have participated at Gitex before, what is the relevance of this show to your business in the region?

We have been a part of GITEX for as long as we have been active in this region, initially represented by our partners, and later directly. The show’s numbers – and more importantly, its impact – is staggering. To bring more than 130,000 ICT professionals from 150 countries under one roof, and to sustain the interest and excitement for 35 years is no mean feat, and GITEX has made itself an institution in the technology world.

What kind of IT trends do you expect to have an impact on the regional ICT industry over the next 12-18 months?

Close to our business is the strong trend we are seeing around enterprise mobility. This can actually be divided into two key directions: companies looking to give their mobile employees more access to information within the firewall, and companies carefully evaluating their security exposure and considering security risks due to improper management.

Enterprise mobility has moved far beyond providing employees with email and calendar functions on their mobile device, and we believe that the real value of enterprise mobility comes when enterprises start to securely mobilize applications behind the firewall that previously forced the user to return to his/her office.

Mobility, although a huge buzzword today, still has some are to cover when it comes to mobility management, as not all platforms are equal. BlackBerry’s Enterprise Mobility Management offering is designed to offer the user a structure process in which to create and update mobility policy.
