Seit zehn Jahren ist Barbara Göttling ein treues Mitglied der Hyatt Wien-Familie. Seit April ist die passionierte Gastronomin zur neuen General Managerin des Park Hyatt Vienna avanciert. Im Gespräch verrät sie, was genau dieses Hotel und sein Team so besonders macht.

For ten years, Barbara Göttling has been a loyal member of the Hyatt Vienna family. Since April, the passionate restaurateur has advanced to become the new General Manager of Park Hyatt Vienna. In an interview, she reveals what makes this hotel and its team so special.

Sie hat die Gastro-Gene als echtes Wirtshaus-Kind aus dem Weinviertel in die Wiege gelegt bekommen und wollte nie etwas anderes werden. Nach der Tourismusfachschule und Stationen in verschiedenen 5*-Luxushotels in St. Moritz und Berlin startete Göttling ihre steile Karriere innerhalb der Hyatt-Gruppe in Wien, wo sie 2013 im Park Hyatt Vienna begann, ab 2018 als Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing für das Park Hyatt Vienna und das Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere tätig war und 2021 zum Hotel Manager des Park Hyatt Vienna aufstieg. Nun, mit 40, ist Barbara Göttling die neue General Managerin des Park Hyatt Vienna und stolz auf ihr 230-köpfiges Team.

Sie sind seit April die neue General Managerin im Park Hyatt Vienna. Was wird sich unter Ihrer Führung im Hotel ändern?

Nun, ich denke, vorerst sicher nicht sehr viel, da ich all meine Aufgaben zum Großteil schon als Hotel Managerin wahrnehmen durfte. Und, da das Hotel ausgezeichnet

After completing tourism school and working in various 5* luxury hotels in St. Moritz and Berlin, Göttling began her steep career within the Hyatt Group in Vienna, where she started at Park Hyatt Vienna in 2013, from 2018 as Cluster Director Sales & Marketing for Park Hyatt Vienna and the Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and rose to Hotel Manager of the Park Hyatt Vienna in 2021. Well now, at 40, Barbara Göttling is the new General Manager of the Park Hyatt Vienna and proud of her 230 members strong team of the Park Hyatt Vienna family.

As the new General Manager of Park Hyatt Vienna since April, what will change at the hotel under your leadership? Well, I don’t think that much will change for the time being. Especially not for me, since I have already taken on most of the same duties in my position as a hotel manager before. And, since the hotel is running so well, there is no need for major changes. As a general manager, it is already a great task and challenge to continue läuft, muss man keine großen Veränderungen vornehmen. Es ist als General Managerin schon eine große Aufgabe und Herausforderung, all unsere hohen Standards, die wir bieten, weiterhin gut zu verwalten und aufrechtzuerhalten. Natürlich wird es – wie schon in den ersten zehn Jahren seit der Eröffnung – immer wieder Renovierungsarbeiten und auch neue Projekte, wie die Neugestaltung der Royal-Penthouse-Suite, geben. Es wird uns allen also sicherlich nicht langweilig werden. to manage and maintain all of our high standards that we offer. Of course, as it has been in the first ten years since the opening, there will always be renovation work and new projects, such as the redesign of the Royal Penthouse Suite. So, we will certainly not get bored.

Was ist das Besondere am Park Hyatt Vienna?

Sicherlich die ganz besondere Lage im Herzen Wiens. Weiters die Historie, die Architektur und die zusätzliche Aufwertung des „Goldenen Quartiers“. Umgeben von renommierten, internationalen Flagshipstores gehen nun auch wieder die Wienerinnen und Wiener am Hof shoppen und spazieren. Unser Hotel hat ein großes Angebot vom Hauben-Restaurant The Bank Brasserie & Bar über das beliebte Café Am Hof bis hin zur extravaganten Bar und unserem renommierten Innenstadt-Spa „Arany“, das mittlerweile aus dem 1. Bezirk nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Man hat nicht das Gefühl, dass hier noch etwas fehlt!

Haben Sie einen absoluten Lieblingsplatz im Park Hyatt Vienna?

Ich muss schon sagen, dass ich mich überall sehr wohlfühle, aber ganz besonders in unserer Bar. Es ist die internationale Atmosphäre, sowohl was die Gäste als auch die Vielfalt der ausgezeichneten Drinks und Cocktails anlangt, und all das in einer außergewöhnlichen Architektur – ein richtiges Wohlfühl-Ambiente. Und, ein weiterer, versteckter Lieblingsort von mir ist unser Rossano Ferretti Hairspa, direkt neben unserem Arany Spa. Ein stiller, heimeliger Zufluchtsort zum Relaxen.

Das globale Hyatt-Motto lautet: „We care for people so they can be their best!“ – was darf man darunter verstehen? Im Park Hyatt Vienna sind uns Gäste und Mitarbeiter gleich wichtig. Jede und jeder wird als einzelnes Individuum gesehen und behandelt. Das People Management liegt uns sehr am Herzen. Wer passt wo gut hin, welche Talente hat er, wo fühlt er sich am wohlsten. Wir wollen auch für die sogenannte Work-Life-Balance einiges anbieten, denn Work und Life sind gerade in unserem Beruf kaum zu trennen. So bieten wir unter anderem für unser Team nicht nur regelmäßige sportliche Aktivitäten im „Fit 4 You“-Programm an, sondern auch gesunde Ernährung in der Kantine oder psychologisches Coaching. Ein ausgezeichnetes Hotel lebt nur durch sein glückliches Team.

Verbringen Sie Ihre Urlaube auch in 5*-Luxushotels?

Nicht oft, denn mein Mann ist passionierter Apnoe-Taucher und da sind wir zumeist in ganz einfacher und entspannter Atmosphäre in Ägypten oder sonst wo am Meer. Aber ich bin oft beruflich in anderen Luxushotels gewesen und da muss ich natürlich Vergleiche ziehen – obwohl das Park Hyatt Vienna ohnehin unvergleichlich ist!

What is special about Park Hyatt Vienna?

Certainly, the very special location in the heart of Vienna. Furthermore, the history, the architecture, and in addition, the opening of Park Hyatt has upgraded the entire area of the “Golden Quarter”. Surrounded by renowned international flagship stores, Viennese people are shopping and strolling at the Hof again. Our hotel offers a wide range of outlets, from the award-winning restaurant “The Bank & Brasserie” to the popular “Café Am Hof” and the extravagant bar and our renowned downtown spa “Arany”, which is now an integral part of the first district. You don’t feel like anything is missing here!

Do you have an absolute favorite spot at Park Hyatt?

I have to say that I feel very comfortable everywhere, but especially in our bar. It is the international atmosphere, both in terms of guests and the variety of excellent drinks and cocktails, all in an extraordinary architecture – a real feel-good atmosphere. And, another hidden favorite spot of mine is our Rossano Ferretti Hairspa, right next to our Arany Spa. A quiet, cozy refuge for relaxation.

The global Hyatt motto is “We care for people so they can be their best!” – what can we understand by that?

At the Park Hyatt Vienna guests and employees are equally important to us. Each and every one is seen and treated as an individual. People management is very important to us. Who fits where, what inclinations does he or she have, where does he or she feel most comfortable? We also want to offer a lot for the so-called work-life balance because work and life are hardly separable in our profession. For example, we offer not only regular sports activities in the “Fit 4 You” program for our team, but also healthy food in the canteen or psychological coaching. An excellent hotel lives only through its happy team.

Do you also spend your vacations in 5-star luxury hotels?

Not often, because my husband is a passionate free diver and we usually stay in a very simple and relaxed atmosphere in Egypt or elsewhere by the sea. However, I have often been to other luxury hotels for business purposes and of course, I have to make comparisons – although the Park Hyatt Vienna is incomparable anyway!

BARBARA GÖTTLING, 1983 in Wien geboren, wuchs als Jugendliche im elterlichen Gastronomiebetrieb auf. Nach der Tourismusschule Wien folgten ManagementTätigkeiten in St. Moritz, Palais Coburg Wien, Grand Hyatt Berlin, der Aufbau der Restaurant- und Eventlocation Bade schiff Wien, Managerinnen-Tätigkeit im Sofitel V ienna Stephansdom und 2013 schließlich die Rückkehr zur Hyatt-Gruppe im Park Hyatt Vienna und später auch im Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere. Im Juni 2021 hat Göttling die Position Hotelmanager im Park Hyatt V ienna übernommen und seit April 2023 ist sie als General Managerin im Hotel tätig.

BARBARA GÖTTLING , born in Vienna in 1983, grew up as a teenager in her parents’ restaurant business. She then attended the Tourism School in Vienna and held management positions in St. Moritz, at the Palais Coburg Vienna, Grand Hyatt Berlin, and was involved in the establishment of the restaurant and event location “Badeschiff, Vienna”, as well as working as a manager at the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom. In 2013, she joined the Park Hyatt Group Vienna at the Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and in 2021 at the Park Hyatt Vienna, where Göttling first worked as a hotel manager and has taken over as General Manager since April 2023. Göttling is married, loves sports and relaxed travel.
