Viel lässt sich dem Bonmot aus dem Munde von Audrey Hepburn eigentlich nicht hinzufügen. Oder vielleicht doch? Denn sehr viel besser als einfach nur „gut“ wird der Aufenthalt in der „Stadt der Liebe und der Lichter“, wenn man ihn im Park Hyatt Paris – Vendôme verbringt …

Not much can be added to the bon mot from Audrey Hepburn’s mouth. Or maybe it can? Because a stay in the “City of Love and Lights” will be much better than just “good” if you spend it at the Park Hyatt Paris – Vendôme …

5 Rue de la Paix, 75002 Paris. Wer nicht aufpasst, könnte glatt an der Adresse vom Park Hyatt Paris – Vendôme vorbeilaufen. Das liegt zum einen an den glitzernden Schaufensterauslagen der benachbarten Geschäfte. Denn egal ob Cartier, Piaget, Van Cleef & Arpels oder Tiffany & Co. – rund um das Hotel reihen sich die exklusivsten Juweliere wie die Perlen einer Kette. Zum anderen liegt es aber auch an Ed Tuttle, einem der weltweit renommiertesten Hotelarchitekten und Interior Designer. Seinem Hang zum stilvollen Understatement ist es nämlich zu verdanken, dass man das Park Hyatt Paris – Vendôme heute durch ein eher unscheinbares Holztor betritt – und nicht durch eines jener großen Prachtportale, die man vielleicht aus anderen 5­Sterne­Häusern kennt. So viel leiser Luxus hätte bestimmt auch Jeanne Paquin gefallen, war die Modeschöpferin doch berühmt für ihre subtilen Haute­Couture­Kreationen, die von Wallis Simpson und vielen anderen Damen der feinen Gesellschaft geliebt und getragen wurden. Im Erdgeschoß des Hotels, wo dunkle Edelhölzer auf hellen, für Paris so typischen Kalkstein treffen und wo sich dezentes Asia­Flair ganz nonchalant mit französischer „art de vivre“ verbindet,

This is due, on the one hand, to the glittering shop windows of the neighboring stores. On the ground floor of the hotel, where dark fine woods meet light limestone typical of Paris, and where subtle Asian flair blends nonchalantly with French art de vivre, her legendary salon was once located. Today, the Café Jeanne, named after Paquin, is housed here. During the cold season, people like to meet here for tea by the crackling fireplace. In spring and befand sich einst ihr legendärer Salon. Heute ist hier das nach Paquin benannte Café Jeanne untergebracht. Während der kalten Jahreszeit trifft man sich dort gerne zum Tee am prasselnden Kaminfeuer. Im Frühling und Sommer lockt hingegen ein begrünter Innenhof viele Gäste und Einheimische ins Freie. Immer einen Hochgenuss verspricht darüber hinaus auch das mit einem Guide­Michelin­Stern sowie vier Gault­Millau­Hauben ausgezeichnete Hotelrestaurant Pur’, in dem das Team summer, a green courtyard attracts many guests and locals to the outdoors. Furthermore, the hotel restaurant Pur’, which has been awarded a Guide Michelin star and four Gault-Millau toques, promises a culinary delight as the team around top chef Jean-François Rouquette conjures up exquisite haute cuisine creations on the finely set tables.

Stattdessen könnte man aber auch durch den barocken, nur einen Kieselsteinwurf entfernt gelegenen Tuileriengarten flanieren, dabei die Aussicht bis zum Triumphbogen bestaunen oder einfach nur zuschauen, wie im Grand Bassin Rond die bunten Segelbötchen ihre ferngesteuerten Runden drehen. Als perfekter Logenplatz für den Sonnenuntergang über der Seine empfehlen sich danach die Sitzbänke auf der Pont Neuf, die wie Balkone über dem Wasser schweben. Wer’s nicht weniger romantisch, dafür aber sehr viel intimer und luxuriöser mag, kann beim Park­Hyatt­Concierge stattdessen aber auch eine private Champagner­Cruise buchen und sich rund um die Île de la Cité sowie die Île Saint­Louis schippern lassen. Was einem vom Wasser aus besonders auffällt: Paris ist in den letzten Jahren eine unglaublich grüne und nachhaltige Stadt geworden! Entlang beider Flussufer, wo einst die Autos Stoßstange an Stoßstange im Stau standen, wird heute beispielsweise gebikt und gehikt, gepicknickt und das Leben gefeiert. After a window-shopping stroll, if you want to pay your respects to the Mona Lisa, you can find her – along with 35,000 other artworks – just across the street at the Louvre. Alternatively, you could stroll through the baroque Tuileries Garden, located just a stone’s throw away, admire the view up to the Arc de Triomphe, or simply watch as the colorful remote-controlled sailboats circle around in the Grand Bassin Rond.

For a perfect front-row seat to watch the sunset over the Seine, the benches on the Pont Neuf, which float like balconies over the water, are highly recommended. If you prefer something as romantic but much more intimate and luxurious, you can instead book a private champagne cruise through the Park Hyatt concierge and sail around Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis. What is particularly striking from the water is that Paris has become an incredibly green and sustainable city in recent years! Along both riverbanks, where cars used to be bumper-to-bumper in traffic, people now bike and hike, picnic, and celebrate life. It is a beautiful sight, which is only surpassed when the Eiffel Tower twinkles for five minutes with the starry sky over the City of Love and Lights at every full hour of the night …
