2
Continue until the motif is fully covered. Carefully remove the stencil. Cover a 10.5cm square blank with aqua card and stamp a simple sentiment in the top left corner.
3
Cut the right and lower edges close to the design. Trim the remaining sides around the umbrella in a scallop pattern. Stick onto the lower right-hand side of the blank and add gems to decorate.

Express Yourself!
Guest Editor, Camilla Westgaard from folksy.com Summer is approaching fast, so now is the perfect time to start to think about accessorising. Fashion is very bold this year with an eclectic use of pattern and colour, and the range of jewellery on the catwalk certainly reflects this. The season’s key trends include sparkly metallics, arty graphics, and shocking pinks and yellows. Geometric patterns continue to be en vogue, featuring a contrasting palette and rainbow block stripes, complemented with navalgazing pendants – the new length for 2017. Oversized earrings provide an eighties retro vibe and the mono ear drop is still very much of the moment, using threads or brightly coloured swatches of fabric. High-street collections are pared down into easy-to-wear cluster pendants and stacking bracelets in gold or silver with colourful highlights. Handmade jewellery is also displaying a more expressive use of colour: fine jewellers have started to use enamel and precious stones to make a bold statement, while craft jewellers are using materials such as aluminium, resin, silicone, leather, felt and thread. One designer who is truly embracing the new trend is Claire Gent Design, one of Folksy’s best-selling makers. She adds colour to her design with anodised aluminium. Each individual pattern is hand-designed, made into a resist and then applied to the metal. This is then dyed, sealed and removed leaving a gorgeous contrast print on the aluminium. SOMETHING I’VE LEARNED... Earlier this
year I plante d seedlings as we had a lovely April, then suddenly we had fr ost. Well, I won’t do that again! Luckily, many survived and I was ch uffed at how well they did
My treat this month... A very belated birthday present for my husband was to see Mrs Brown’s Boys live – it turned out to be a treat for us both! I don’t get to watch much TV so I wasn't aware just how funny, albeit a bit naughty, the show was. I had tears running down my face from laughing. It was wonderful medicine and I felt great afterwards!

CRAFT OF THE MONTH
T
he Screen Sensation has taken the crafting world by storm and I'm delighted to say that the new inks are just as popular. What's also very exciting is that you can now make your own designs to work with the Screen Sensation! We were always asked about this, so we're delighted to bring it to you. Have a look at this lovely purse made using the Pina Colada screen – a touch of Rio!
Hot Product We are off to the Land of the Rising Sun and celebrating with a delightful Tattered Lace launch of the Discover the Orient Collection. It's a fabulous range that features charming Japanese scenes, beautiful Geisha, a noodle box and so much more. I particularly love the tigers and the way they've been coloured.

FAVE THING!
I must confess to you that I'm not very good with IT and I only learn what I need to know. However, it occurred to me whilst writing this just how much I love my iPad. It's never far from me, unless I have mislaid it of course!
Look what I made!
The tropical trend is just perfect for July birthdays, however, you could use this card all year round. The greens go from lime to emerald and tie together beautifully with aqua blues. I used an Essential Square die to cut into the yellow card and ribbon wrapped around the bottom edge. The parrot and leaves have been coloured with Kurocolor Brush and Fine pens.
