History Talk

On Wednesday, Year 7 spent the afternoon listening to a guest speaker from Windsor Castle. The focus of the talk was 'What happened after 1066'. They discovered more about the aftermath of the Battle of Hastings, particularly the introduction of the Feudal System by William the Conqueror - some of the girls even got to dress up as the King, Nobles, Knights and Peasants! Building on their knowledge of the Medieval period, the speaker also explained how Windsor Castle developed from a traditional Motte and Bailey Castle to a stone fortress that is very difficult to attack. The presentation finished with an explanation of what Windsor Castle is used for today and the girls learnt more about the role of the King in today's society
