Year 9 Noughts And Crosses

Year 9 enjoyed seeing Malorie Blackman's "Noughts and Crosses" brought to life on the stage at the Rose Theatre in Kingston last week. The play tells the story of a segregated society and the struggle facing Sephy and Callum as their love is forbidden in a divided world.

Year 11 Poetry Live

The English department took all of Year 11 to see Poetry Live in London. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to hear many of the poems on the GCSE syllabus read by the poets themselves. We enjoyed listening to Carol Ann Duffy, Imtiaz Dharker, John Agard and Simon Armitage and hearing what they had to say about their poems. There was also a very special moment for Emma N when she was invited to pose a question to Carol Ann Duffy. The chief examiner was also present, and he delivered two sessions exploring how to tackle the poetry questions and shared some exemplar answers.
