65 Years of Golf at CRCC ON FEBRUARY 3, 2020,
the Coral Ridge Golf Course turns 65! Work began in mid-1954 and was completed in 122 working days, a feat most had claimed was “impossible.” It opened with great fanfare to 16 founders, their guests and 25 Members, playing the course with the Club pro Lew Worsham. The press touted it as a “masterpiece of ingenuity from the mind of the worlds’ greatest golf architect, Robert Trent Jones.” From then on, the Club became the epicenter of the

Coral Ridge community, hosting sporting, social and community events and celebrations. With the hospitality touch of his wife, Ione Jones, Members and their guests flocked to the Club enjoying that special something it offered. As the only course in Fort Lauderdale, sitting so close to the intracoastal and beach, location has always been a key to the Club’s success. But a true love for the game and attention to detail when caring for the notable golf course is also what has set the Club apart. We look forward to celebrating the opening of the Jones designed, Jones restored course in the fall of 2020!

are great workouts, but few sports offer the FUN and anaerobic activity that tennis offers. Tennis players are almost constantly in motion, and using nearly every muscle in their body. In addition to short sprints, there are also constant changes of direction, and motion in every possible angle. It builds muscle and stamina. What’s not to love? If you want to burn some calories and hit a lot of balls, join one of our Live Ball or Cardio programs offered weekly. If you are looking for more of a social venue, then try our mixed doubles on Friday evenings followed by our famous “Martini Madness.” If it is competition that you are looking for, women can join one of our eleven travel teams. If singles is your choice, then climb one of our challenge ladders. We are here to get you involved with the greatest sport on the planet, in our humble opinion!

about our upcoming Restoration Project set to begin March 30th on the Champ 18. During this time, it’s important to remember a few things: The Rees 9 will be open daily for play. A more detailed plan and hours of operation will be sent out in March. (Note: The Champ 18 course and all practice facilities including the putting green will be closed March 30 November, exact reopening date TBD) Summer Camps (Golf, Tennis, Swim) will also be held beginning June 8 to August 14. Details on this will also be sent out in March. Summer Golf Reciprocity: we have secured multiple clubs in the tri-county areas for you to play between April 1 to November 15, 2020. A club listing was emailed to all Golf Members in January and will be updated as more clubs join. We look forward to seeing many of you throughout the restoration period and assisting you with all of your golf needs/requests. Please note that all requests for starting times must be made through our Golf Shop staff.
Tips for a Smooth Round February and March mark the height of the golf season, so here are a few tips to help make your experience as smooth as possible: • Give all of the names of the Members and guests when making a reservation. This helps staff prepare your bags and carts for you. • Check-in at the Golf Shop as soon as your group is here. • Be ready at the first tee at least five minutes ahead of your scheduled time. Every group that is late moves the next time back and this is discourteous to other Members. • Play “ready golf ” whenever possible. If each person hits their shot when “ready” instead of when they have honors your group can save several minutes each hole. (This should be agreed upon by your group prior to play due to possible match play rules issues). • Never proceed to the 10th tee to start play without consulting with the starter or Golf Shop first. It is imperative that we know where golfers are on the course at all times. This action may also interfere with maintenance operations that are being conducted. • Take a lesson or practice more! This will make the game more enjoyable and can quicken your club and shot selection.

Club Event Reservation Policy
encouraged to
Special club events, wine dinners, Saturday night seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. • Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you, so we may contact them. • You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.
