that the new Rees 9 is the first golf course to be built in the City of Fort Lauderdale since the CRCC Championship course was constructed in 1954. As the current ownership group heads into their 11th year of ownership, the creation of the Rees 9 is a true testament to their commitment of building upon the first class Club that Mr. Robert Trent Jones and wife Ione started over 60 years ago. Since the Rees 9 has opened the Member feedback has been tremendous. It’s been exciting to hear the comments from you such as “It is AMAZING – just beautiful,” to “I had so much fun playing the course,”and “I can’t wait to take my kids out there!” Rees truly created an impressive course to be enjoyed by everyone, at every skill level. It was an honor to have him join us for a cocktail reception on November 6th where he shared stories from the past that had us all laughing as well as his sentiments that he is proud to see what the Club has evolved to today and his parents would feel the same. Thank you to everyone who came out to meet Rees and share your wonderful comments about the course.

As you know, we’ve got a big season of events planned for you here at Coral Ridge. As we head into a new year, many of you may have the goal of improving your game or spending more time with your family – and what better place to do that than Coral Ridge? It’s certainly a great idea to spend more time on your game so that you’re ready for the upcoming club championships and events such as the Fort Lauderdale Challenge, Member-Guest tournaments and Club Championships. Make any and all reservations early due to high demand! As we continue to improve the Club, whether with aesthetic improvements or our steps of service, it is always our goal to welcome you H.O.M.E. to the Club each and every time you are here. The staff ’s H.O.M.E. mantra remains the same: Hospitable People, Outstanding Service, Memorable Experiences and Exceeding Expectations. We look forward to making your next year at the Club spectacular! S AV E

A Blast from the Past Hall of Fame golfer Mr. Boros won 18 PGA Tour events, including three major championships: the 1952 and 1963 U.S. Opens and the 1968 PGA Championship. He called Coral Ridge Country Club his home and he and Mrs. Armen Boros raised their four sons and three daughters at their home on the golf course. Son Guy Boros went on to also become a professional golfer. Mrs. Armen Boros remains a Member of the Club today and has been for the past 52 years. The memorial bridge was erected shortly after Mr. Boros passed away in his golf cart under the willow tree near the 16th hole, his favorite spot on the course. ➤

As we shared in the fall newsletter, we thought it would be interesting to share some photos from our past as we celebrate the Club’s 60th anniversary. If you are a golfer here at the Club, you’ve seen the Julius Boros memorial plaque as you cross the bridge over to the 16th green, but you may not know the history behind it. In his professional career,

Actual Photo Caption from October 18, 1963: Julius Boros, recently named “Golfer of the Year” by his fellow professionals, returned home to Fort Lauderdale and was presented the “Golden Tee” to the City by Fort Lauderdale Mayor, Cy Young, at Coral Ridge Country Club. Boros plans to rest for a week before joining the pro tour again.

C LU B EV E N T R E S E RVAT I O N P O L I C Y Special club events, wine dinners, seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you. • You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.
