at the Club. The pandemic has made all of us pivot and, while the stress has touched everyone’s lives, many are appreciating the silver lining of quality time with family and close friends. We have loved seeing the camaraderie of Members and staff during this time. Plus, the excitement of the course restoration is invigorating! Seeing how truckloads and piles of sand, pipe, and landscape materials have been molded, shaped, and masterfully transformed into sweeping vistas and rolling greens has been nothing short of amazing. Getting Closer... We are hoping for a November 17th course opening. It’s still too early to set a date in stone since all plans are weather dependent, but we are carefully nursing every blade and watching the grass grow stronger. We cannot wait to announce the exact reopening date. Stay tuned.

Club Event Reservation Policy Special club events, wine dinners, seafood nights and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you. • You may cancel 7 days prior to the event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. N O T E : Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.

A Tip from the Top: Mini Tennis, why do it?

Women’s Home Team Match Schedule

Warming up with mini tennis is like eating at the Outback, no rules! Every pro has their own way of doing mini tennis. My philosophy is to gently warm up with an emphasis on footwork and watching the ball, not focusing on technique. The ball should bounce every time which encourages the feet to move, watch the ball after it bounces until you FEEL (not see) it hit your racket. Mini tennis can also help a player learn to hit with underspin, the most difficult spin to control. When hitting drop shots, the racket starts above the ball with a firm wrist and decelerates to a stop. Once a player can do this, they can continue the swing with a full follow through and a high finish.

November 23 Courses Open on Mondays

Event Reminders Way to Go, Patrick! As we embark on the future of Coral Ridge golf, our pros are as anxious as our Members to engage in the sport they love. We would like to recognize and congratulate Patrick Schmitz, our 1st Assistant Professional on winning Assistant Professional of the Year for the Southern Chapter of the PGA. This award is for overall performance, willingness to accept responsibility, promotion of the game through teaching adults and juniors, and promoting the image of the PGA of America. Patrick has grown exponentially since his professional career started with us back in 2013. He continues to be a role model for our associate staff professionals and leading by example on how to be the best PGA Professional. He’s very deserving of this award and we couldn’t be prouder.

Full event details for WGA, MGA and Club-run events will be posted well in advance. You may find these updates in the locker room, Golf Shop and on the Club website calendar.

We Ship Clubs! Need to ship your clubs? We have you covered! Let us know where and when the clubs need to be delivered and we will take care of the rest. We can also supply a return label for the clubs to be shipped back to Coral Ridge. If you have any further questions, please visit the Golf Shop.

TIPS FOM THE PROS

GOLF EVENTS

2021 Tournaments How’s Your Grip?

Tackle your Trajectory

Too Small?

Having had a sneak peak at the Championship 18 golf course, players will need to be equipped with multiple shots around the green. The undulation surrounding the green will force players to hit shots with different trajectories to get the ball close to the hole. A simple way to control the trajectory of a pitch shot and a lob shot is having an awareness of the follow through. When players need to hit a pitch shot with some spin, they will need to keep their hands near or under the belt line, leading to a shorter and lower follow through. This type of follow through will allow the ball to come out lower with more spin to stop the ball quicker on the green. When players need to elevate the ball up and over a bunker, they will need to finish their follow through near their shoulder line, leading to a longer and higher follow through. Practice these follow throughs and see how the ball differs in the air and how it reacts on the green. – Patrick Schmitz, PGA

Grips are too small when the ring and middle finger connect and press into the thumb pad. This can make it difficult to maintain stability of the clubface when striking the ball.

Too Large? Grips are too large when the ring finger does not connect with the thumb pad.

Just Right! Grips are perfect in size when the middle finger touches and presses slightly into the thumb pad. If you are unsure about your grips, the Golf professional staff will be glad to assist you.

To provide you with the optimal Coral Ridge experience, please review the following important guidelines: Cart Rules • Golf carts must remain at least 30 feet outside of the putting surface. • Remain away from bunker edges and do not drive between bunkers. • Refrain from parking in front of greens. • Please return to the cart paths at or before the cart directional signs. • Please keep all four tires of the cart on the path around tees and greens. Parking Carts Around Greens • Blue posts have been strategically placed on the course to notify you where to park your golf cart. Push/Pull Cart Rules • Walking carts should never be rolled onto/over any of the putting surfaces at any time. • Rees Jones has specifically designed walk off areas on each green where your walking carts should be parked. These will help direct you to the next tee box and keep you and your walking cart safe from some of the steep slopes that are now present.

Ball Marks • All players are responsible for repairing their ball mark, plus one other, on all putting green surfaces. • Insert tool on the high side. • Push the edges of the ball mark toward the center. • Do not lift or twist with the tool. • Close the hole by pushing all sides of the ball mark into the center. • Tap the surface down with your putter.

OUR FLYING ACE ➤ Through the months, we have been able to share progress photos and videos with Members because Carolina Boring, wife of Jay Boring, stepped up to the challenge of flying a drone and being everywhere at once in order to capture a bird’s eye and golfer’s view of the work.
