Members and Guests, Family and Friends WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF
that fun time of the year when Members invite their treasured family and friends to compete in our famously popular Member-Guest events. Our golf, tennis and food and beverage teams go all out to treat Members and guests to an experience that leaves a lingering
memory of the WOW factor. All through the winter and spring, men and women are competing in tournaments and claiming titles, whether it’s the President’s Cup winner, a winning team on a tennis league or the few who rise all of the way to the top to claim the coveted title of “Club Champion” in either golf or tennis. Whether you are a seasoned, veteran player or just beginning to enjoy the competition, the Club offers something for you. There are more clinics and programs offered than ever before, giving everyone a chance to improve their game or test their skills. And, if your sport is watching sunsets from the Terrace with a cocktail in hand, well, we can assist you there as well!
The exterior of the Club is now a classic, fresh white like it was in the 1950’s, less the turquoise blue accent color that was revealed as workers were scraping to repaint.
Try the Taylor ‘21 We are serving a new cocktail created specifically to honor our teaching pro, Taylor Collins who had an exceptional year of competition. Ride the wave with Taylor, more on p. 10. TIED THE KNOT |

Logo Fun
“coral ridge. always awesome.” “Never a bad day here.” “Staff and course are top notch.” “Unbelievable golf course.” “Awesome location and service!”
Times they are a changing! New merchandise is sporting several versions of our crest logo and other variations of ‘CRCC’ and ‘The Ridge.’ How do you know if you really like your logo? Try it on! Who knows, some of these items may be one-of-a-kind collectibles someday.
Logo Evolution Through Time Styles change and so do logos, although not quite as often. Recently we have introduced a simpler CRCC logo maintaining the original classic crest, our glorious state of Florida and the golf flag pinpointing our location.

TIPS FROM THE PROS
The reverse pivot in people’s backswing is a result of three things: over rotation, too long of a backswing, or flexibility issues. Here is a great drill that will help. When you learn to load correctly into your backswing this will help with power and speed and also provide stability in your lower body.
P H O T O
1. Place two aim sticks on the ground as shown on left. 2. Place another aim stick through your belt loops. 3. Hold the next aim stick across your shoulder line and then get into posture.
➤
P H O T O
Here is an incorrect turn that has created the reverse pivot.
P H O T O
➤
1. Turn into your backswing and try to match up the aim sticks that are on your body to the aim sticks that are on the ground.

Reverse Pivot: An Easy Fix
Here you can see how the drill has helped this student in only one lesson.
2. Try and do it slowly so your body can feel the stretch and also the correct rotation.

➤
3. Try to do this in front of a mirror. It will help with the feedback that your body is feeling.
This picture shows a reverse pivot. Notice how there is rotation and the weight is all on the right side. This will cause falling back in the downswing and a loss of power and stability. CORAL RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB

120 players at the Gainbridge LPGA, at Boca Rio Golf Club in Boca Raton and will compete in the PGA Professional National Championship this April in Austin, Texas. This has been somewhat of a comeback year for Taylor who had retired from a rising golf career due to struggles with rheumatoid arthritis. With her RA now under control, she is, in her words,“riding the wave.” At Gainbridge, she thought, “Any time I look down at that golf ball, I’m just going to remind myself that I love my job, I love teaching my kids,” Collins said. “And hopefully, it will help me calm down and realize, it’s not like do-or-die here. I love the job that I have outside of it, but I’m extremely lucky to have the privilege to pursue a passion and a childhood dream and play in this event.”

Windy Weather Tennis No one enjoys playing on a windy day, but in South Florida we experience these conditions frequently. So, how can we deal with wind and still come out on top? Here are a few strategies to help: 1 Always be aware of the wind direction before going on the court. At Coral Ridge we have placed flags on top of the fences to show the wind direction and intensity. 2 Try to get on the court before your opponents and warm up on the side with the wind at your back (you would be hitting “with” the wind). If you win the spin, change ends with your opponents. Now they would start hitting with the wind at their back which is more difficult to control their shots on the first game. You have already delt with the situation in warm up.
3 Lob more from the end INTO the wind. The wind will help control the lob. 4 Lob less with the wind at your back, drive the ball more from this end. 5 When playing at the net if you are facing the wind, you can stand one step closer to the net. It is more difficult for your opponents to control lobs from going out with the wind at their back. 6 When playing at the net with the wind at your back stand one step farther back. It is much easier for your opponent now to lob you from their end.
