Possibilities Playground at Butterfield Crossing Park

Possibilities Playground at Butterfield Crossing Park

Project Scope

Imagine a universally designed, sensory-rich environment that enables children of all abilities to develop physically, socially and emotionally. With your help, this vision may soon become a reality at Butterfield Crossing Park in Castle Rock.

The Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation joined forces with the Parks and Recreation Department to maximize already planned renovation work. The department’s Capital Improvement Plan identified the need for upgrades, and 2022 priorities focused

on addressing safety and life-cycle replacement at Butterfield Crossing Park. The Foundation is using this timing as an opportunity to enhance the park beyond renovation work with the Possibilities Playground.

The goal of this inclusive playground is for visitors of all ages and abilities to be able to play, be challenged and have fun together. Visit PossibilitiesPlayground.org to learn how you can help children of all abilities interact with one another and do what every child wants to do: play!

To learn more, visit PossibilitiesPlayground.org or scan the QR code.

The Butterfield Crossing Park Renovation project is a priority for the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation, an independent 501c3 that works to enhance Castle Rock’s parks and trails and maximize the community’s recreational experiences. Established in 2012, the Foundation is a resident-led advocacy group, brought together by their collective desire to create educational and enjoyable recreational experiences.

Fundraising Update

The Foundation would like to thank supporters of the project to date. With generous contributions from local businesses paving the way, the Foundation has reached nearly 70% of its fundraising goal. Community giving has played an important role in bringing inclusive play to Castle Rock too, with over $9,000 coming from individuals opting to trade their regular coffee shop visits or coins in their piggy banks for something bigger.

CASTLE ROCK'S ADVENTURE CLUB PRESCHOOL EARNS HIGH RATING FROM STATE OF COLORADO

The Town’s Adventure Club Preschool has earned a Level 3 rating from Colorado Shines for excellence in early learning. Colorado Shines is a free service offered through the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Early Childhood, which rates Colorado’s early care and learning programs. JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUES

The 6-hole, 9-hole and 18-hole Junior Golf Leagues give advanced junior golfers the opportunity to have fun and compete each week for prizes that are redeemable at the end of the season. We use a variety of tournament formats to introduce golfers to the competitive side of the game while teaching teamwork, etiquette and honesty along the way.

The league fees listed below will include entry into the 2023 Junior Golf Championship on July 25, as well as a voucher good for one meal before or after each weekly event.

A junior is right for this league if they have significant on-course experience, know and follow the basic rules and etiquette of golf, show satisfactory golfing ability and can maintain pace of play. Poor etiquette and/or cheating can disqualify you from future league events at the discretion of the professionals at Red Hawk Ridge.

Due to the popularity of the Junior Golf Leagues and to give everyone a fair chance to participate in 2023, we will be holding a lottery for all spots. Lottery registration will be available online beginning April 15 and continue through May 7. Those selected will be notified via email May 8. Payment must be received by May 22 or your spot will be offered to the next available person. We will hold separate drawings for each league, so be sure to register for the appropriate league. ROOKIES (AGES 6-9) SNAG

Red Hawk Ridge has added the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) program to its curriculum for juniors in the Rookie age division. SNAG is a new and fun way to introduce kids to golf. SNAG contains all the elements of golf, but utilizes modified equipment (i.e. tennis balls, velcro targets and lightweight clubs with large club heads). SNAG incorporates specialized teaching methods to deliver results at a higher success rate than students get out of hitting real balls with real clubs. We provide all of the equipment for SNAG, so please do not bring a set from home. This class is recommended for juniors who have no prior golf experience and would prefer a fun transition into golf rather than jumping right into this highly intricate game.

Important Note: All SNAG classes are held at Bison Park and NOT at Red Hawk Ridge.
