CLARE GRANGER The common theme in Clare’s work is an attempt to create an atmosphere in response to her subject, either landscape or figure, with the use of colour and tone. Of her inspiration, she states ‘I am totally entranced by those Eastern Countries….the colours, heat and light of the region have captivated me’. Her travels in Kenya, India and Burma have inspired a body of work which responds to the wonderful aura of each country and its people. Clare works in a variety of media. Whilst in the field she uses watercolour and pencil in her sketchbooks, back in her studio she works mainly in oil on canvas and charcoal. Clare began her professional career whilst a student at Cambridge University by selling drawings to passers by. Since those early beginnings Clare has exhibited widely, including five One Man Shows. This exhibition is her second with Cricket Fine Art, following her successful first show back in 2017.
