KEDVES FILMBARÁTOK!
Üdvözöljük Önöket a Little Europe Filmfesztivál első kiadásán. Bár a fesztivál ötlete nemrég született, és a fesztivál, ahogy mondani szokás, még csak gyerekcipőben jár, rövid fennállása ellenére is sikerült nagy elképzelésekkel útjára indulnia és magasra tennie a mércét. A fesztivál célja, hogy feltárja a közönség előtt Közép- és Kelet-Európa országai (Ausztria, Csehország, Lengyelország, Románia, Szlovákia és Szlovénia) filmművészetének legkülönlegesebb kincseit. Bár a filmválaszték elsősorban a játékfilmekre összpontosít, a programban számos dokumentumfilm is szerepel. A fesztivál dramaturgiája egyszerre igyekszik megerősíteni és lerombolni az egyes nemzetek mentalitásával és filmművészetével kapcsolatos sztereotípiákat.

DEAR FILM LOVERS,
Welcome to the very first edition of the Little Europe Film Festival. Even though the idea of the festival was born quite recently and the festival is, as they say, still in its infancy, in its short life, it has managed to envision great things and set the goals high. As a matter of fact, this festival aims to present the most extraordinary treasures of recent years’ cinematography of selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe (Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia) to the audience. Although the film selection focuses mainly on narrative films, the programme also includes several documentaries. The dramaturgy of the festival tries to both affirm and destroy the stereotypes concerning the mentalities of individual nations and their cinematography.

Cristi (Conrad Mericoffer) csendőrként dolgozik Bukarestben, és nem mellesleg meleg. Ezt a két dolgot amúgy sem egyszerű kibékíteni egy olyan macsó közegben, mint a csendőrség, de Cristi önmagával való szembenézése még sürgetőbbé válik, amikor kihívják az alakulatot egy botrányba fulladt filmvetítésre: a mozi nyugalmát mélyromán ultrakonzervatív tüntetők zavarják meg, akiknek az szúrja a szemét, hogy melegekről szóló filmet tűzött műsorára az illető filmszínház.
A Pipacsmező egy megtörtént esetet dolgoz fel egy sajátos, „meleg csendőri” nézőpontból. A Pipacsmezők hét nemzetközi díjat nyert és különféle európai és tengerentúli fesztiválon további 35 díjra jelölték (többek között a torinói, a gijóni, a glasgowi, Miami-i, San Francico-i, valamint a londoni BFI Flare fesztiválokon). Romániában a TIFF-en Közönségdíjat, a Gopo-n pendig három fontos díjat is elvitt.

EUGEN JEBELEANU (*1989) – RENDEZŐ ÉS VENDÉG
Eugen Jebeleanu színészként és rendezőként a színházi és és filmvilágban egyaránt otthonosan mozog. 1989-ben született Temesváron, de 2007-ben a Cu un pas înainte tévésorozatban elnyert szerepe miatt Bukarestbe költözött. Elvégezte a bukaresti Színház- és Filmművészeti Egyetemen a színész szakot, ami után több londoni és párizsi mesterkurzuson is részt vett. Sokszor dolgozott Radu Afrim román rendezővel. 2010-ben Michael Verburgh színésszel együtt megalapította a Companie 28, majd 2015-ben az Ogres nevű magántársulatát Párizsban.

Poppy Field follows the struggle of a young Romanian gendarme Cristi, who tries to find the balance between two apparently opposing parts of his identity: that of a man working in a macho hierarchical environment and that of a closeted gay person who tries to keep his personal life a secret. While his long-distance French boyfriend Hadi is visiting him, Cristi is called in for an intervention at a movie theatre, where an ultra-nationalist, homophobic group has interrupted the screening of a queer film. Poppy Field won seven international prizes and 35 nominations at European and American film festivals (Torino, Gijón, BFI Flare London, Glasgow, Miami, San Francisco). At The Transilvanian Film Festival, it won the Audience Award and Best Director Award and it also won three prizes at the Romanian Gopo Awards.

EUGEN JEBELEANU (*1989) DIRECTOR AND GUEST
Eugen Jebeleanu is a Romanian film and theatre actor and director. In 2007, he moved to Bucharest to play his first role in the TV series Cu un pas înainte. He graduated from the Acting Department of National University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography and also from various acting schools in London and Paris. He often worked with Radu Afrim. Together with Michael Verburgh, he founded two private theatre companies in Paris.

Kerekes Péter szlovák dokumentarista, forgatókönyvíró, producer és tanár. Több díjnyertes dokumentumfilmet készített. Ako sa varia dejiny (Hogyan készül a történelem) című filmje számos nemzetközi fesztiválon nyert díjat, és jelölték a rangos Európai Arte-díjra. Legutóbbi filmje, a 107 anya a Velencei Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál Horizontok szekciójában a legjobb forgatókönyvnek járó díjat nyerte el, továbbá a közelmúltban a The Sun in a Net-díjat is, méghozzá a legjobb film, a legjobb rendező, a legjobb forgatókönyv és a legjobb női főszereplő kategóriákban.

Leysa killed her husband out of jealousy and she is sentenced to seven years in one of Odessa’s women’s correctional facilities. Pregnant when arrested, she delivers her baby boy in jail. But the law is the law: on the day of his third birthday, the child will be sent to an orphanage. On the other side of the bars is Iryna, a lonely warden dedicated to her work. She has her freedom but not much more than that, and her life revolves around the inmates and her intrusive mother. Faithful to her role, she watches over the prison with strict distance. Inspired by a true story, this film portrays the women and children who are otherwise usually invisible with a bracing sense of justice.

Peter Kerekes is a Slovak documentarist, screenwriter, producer, and teacher. He has produced several award-winning documentaries. His film Ako sa varia dejiny (How History is Made) won awards at numerous international festivals and was nominated for the prestigious European Arte Prize. His most recent film, 107 Mothers, won the Best Screenplay Award in the Horizons section at the Venice International Film Festival and recently obtained The Sun in a Net Award for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Petr Václav cseh rendező és forgatókönyvíró. PETR VÁCLAV (*1967) DIRECTOR
Petr Václav is a Czech director and screenwriter. His film Cesta ven (The Way Out) was screened in the ACID section at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and became the first Czech film to premiere at this most prestigious of film festivals in 23 years. It was awarded seven Czech Lions, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. The film about Josef Mysliveček is his beloved project; he also wrote the script for the film. Il Boemo won six Czech Lions, including Best Director for Václav and honours for Best Set Design, Costumes and Makeup.

Bécs, 1920. Az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia darabjaira hullott. Peter Perg többéves hadifogság után tér vissza a háborúból. Az a Bécs, ami fogadja őt, már nem az, amit ismert. Idegenként keresi helyét szülővárosában, amikor egykori bajtársát meggyilkolják. Ezzel háborús veteránok titokzatos meggyilkolásának sorozata kezdődik. Perg elhatározza, hogy megkeresi a gyilkost, Theresa Körner törvényszéki orvosnőben szövetségesesre is talál. Nyomozásuk során a város legsötétebb oldalait ismerik meg. A film a 2021-ben elnyerte a Locarnói Filmfesztivál közönségdíját.
STEFAN RUZOWITZKY (*1961) – RENDEZŐ
Osztrák író és rendező. Anatómia című horrorfilmje minden idők legnagyobb bevételt hozó német zsánerfilmje lett. 2007-ben a Pénzhamisítók című filmje elnyerte a legjobb idegen nyelvű filmnek járó Oscar-díjat. Többek között ő rendezte a Kelepce (Deadfall) című amerikai krimi-drámát is, valamint egyúttal több tévésorozat, például a 8 nap vagy a Barbárok társalkotója.

STEFAN RUZOWITZKY (*1961) DIRECTOR
Stefan Ruzowitzky is an Austrian writer and director. His horror film called Anatomy became the highest-grossing German genre movie ever. In 2007, his film The Counterfeiters obtained the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award (Oscar). Among others, he also directed the American crime drama film Deadfall and co-created a number of TV series such as 8 Days or The Barbarians.

Adam Sedlák is part of the new generation of Czech directors. His films are progressive in terms of form and content and deal with current issues. His debut film Domestik addresses the topic of bodybuilding; it received two nominations for the Czech Lions Awards and it won the Best Sound Award. For BANGER., Sedlák obtained the Best Direction prize of the Czech Film Critics’ Awards.

Ivo Trajkov macedón rendező, producer, szerkesztő, forgatókönyvíró, dramaturg és lektor. Emellett rendezőként, producerként, forgatókönyvíróként és dokumentumfilmesként dolgozik a Cseh Televíziónál. Ő készítette például a Takové normální manželství (Csak egy átlagos házasság) és a Výpověď utajeného svědka (Egy titkos tanú vallomása) című dokumentumfilmeket, valamint a Jan Zajíc öngyilkosságáról szóló tévéfilmet. Macedónia három játékfilmjét is Oscar-díjra jelölte.

It’s spring 1939. The bishop in Banská Bystrica finds out that in the village of Piargy, which was buried by an avalanche a few days ago, the Antichrist was born. The bishop calls on the priest Baláž and asks him to investigate the statements of Johanka, the only survivor of the catastrophe. Baláž wants to know exactly what happened in Piargy.

IVO TRAJKOV (*1965) DIRECTOR
Ivo Trajkov is a Macedonian director, producer, editor, scriptwriter, dramaturg, and editor. He also works as a director, producer, scriptwriter, and documentary filmmaker for Czech Television. He has made several documentaries such as Takové normální manželství (Just an Ordinary Marriage) and Výpověď utajeného svědka (Testimony of a Secret Witness), as well as a TV film about the suicide of Jan Zajíc. Three of his feature films were nominated by Macedonia for the Academy Awards.
JUDIT PECHÁČEK (*1988) – ACTRESS AND GUEST
Judit Pecháček is an actress. She performs mainly on stage, appearing at the Andrej Bagar Theatre and the Jókai Theatre, and she has also been a guest at the Slovak National Theatre. In 2011, she made her feature film debut in Dom – for this film, she won the Blue Angel Award for Best Actress at the 2011 Art Film Festival, followed by the Igric Award, and finally the prestigious The Sun in a Net Award and the Student Jury Award at the 18th International Titanic Film Festival in Budapest.
