WHAT’S SWINGIN’ DIVISION 13 NORTH!

It's time to get this party started Division 13 North!!! I am Lauren Trinity Uy and I proudly serve as Division 13 North’s Division News Editor (DNE) for the ‘22-’23 term :D I would like to now formally welcome all readers to the BANANA BULLETIN! With this being our first issue I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the people who have helped guide me in my journey for this new position. I can’t believe it’s June already! We super splashed into this first month of summer. I hope you are all resting and enjoy this vacation time. Yet, nonetheless this past month for D13N was an absolute blast, with so many great events such as our service event, The Awesome 80’s Run. And of course Super Smash BR-OTC with all of Division 13. I hope that if you were able to attend those events you all had a super duper awesome time. Lastly with all the hard work I have seen behind the scenes for our division, I would just like to commend all clubs and all officers for working so hard this past month. Everyone continues to improve and help our Division each and every day. Know that your hard work is seen and to KEEP IT UP :)) With that being said, thank you so much for reading this term’s first issue of BANANA BULLETIN! I hope you readers enjoy it!

Swingin’ for Service,

Division 13 North News Editor ‘22-’23

WHAT’S SWINGIN’ DIVISION 13 NORTH! My name is Kai Noah Jugo and I proudly serve as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2022-2023 term! We are only 3 months in and we’ve already made so much IMPACT! In the past month, our division gave members the opportunities to serve their communities, raise money for preferred charities, and stay updated with our DCM which had such great turn out! As we’re entering a full month of Summer, I encourage you all to stay active during this time and continue benefiting our cities and towns! Take advantage of your free time this Summer. Already in June we’ve had so much attendance at our recent service events. Continue that attendance this month. Already, there has been so much revival within our division in these past few months. From many show ups at our most recent council meeting and service projects, I know that this term will have such a strong group of leaders among them which will continue the Key Club legacy after me! Thank you for reading the entirety of this message. This is Lauren’s first newsletter so please be sure to compliment how amazingly beautiful it is! Enjoy the newsletter! Swingin’ for Service,

Division 13 North Lieutenant Governor ‘22-’23

Monkey see, Monkey do, WHAT IT BE? WHAT IT DO? Good morning, good afternoon, or GOOODDDD night Key Clubbers! Good job to everyone who made it through the tumultuous school year of 21-22, and good luck to those taking summer school over the break! We’ve got a few months of this summer break so make sure to make the most of it, whether that be you sleeping in daily, making time for family, or hanging out with friends. THAT REMINDS ME… if you have the time over break, then make some time for our division service and social events, fundraisers, and whatever else we offer; we’ve got a lot planned and we are so excited to show you guys what we can do! GET active, GET those service hours, MAKE friends, and MAKE memories because this is prime key club time FO REAL! Keep in touch with us; there’s bound to be an event that suits your fancy. MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO!! HOW DO YOU DO D13N MON-KEYS?!?! How’s everyone’s summer going? I know this month most of us have started summer, so good luck to those with summer school and/or any extracurriculars that are taking up your time. But don’t forget that this summer our division will be providing top-notch, super fun service events, fundraisers, and DCM’s so make sure to attend and make long-lasting memories. Summer time is when I made some of my strongest memories and connections in Key Club and I’m sure you will too!! You guys are the keys to our division and the key components of our community, so spend time this summer to really climb high in those trees and get involved, make new friends, and overall just have a great time! Summer is a great opportunity to really make the most of your free time and squeeze in as many service hours as you can :D Also, Thank you to all those that participated in the Awesome 80’s run service event and for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend time serving our community ( つ´∀`)つ

ARTESIA'S GROWTH MONTH Alyssah Patterson President | Artesia In May, Artesia Key Club participated in other club events throughout the division!! On May 28th, we were given the privilege to attend UCLA CIRCLE K's joint board training where board members taught us how to improve and succeed while making the best of your Key Club Term. We were given workshops instructing on Communication and Professionalism, Organization, Member Recruitment & Retention, and Finding & Creating Volunteer Opportunities. They also presented specialized workshops based on our board position (President & VP, Editors and Historians, and Secretaries and Treasures). May DCM, held on May 21st, was well enjoyed as we created Alphabet Letter Cards for local elementary schools as a service event and enjoyed Gahr and Mayfair Key Club's yummy food!! We've been working very hard to find a new advisor for the 2022-2023 term and hold our first general meeting!

GOTTA CATCH THAT OFFICER Justin Arizmendi Vice President | Bellflower On Thursday, May 19th, Bellflower Key Club hosted an on-campus social after the school day had ended. This social was held with the purpose of creating and strengthening the bonds between our officers and general members. For this event, we chose a Pokemon theme, which explains the name of the social "Gotta Catch That Officer: Meet The Board Social''. A few officers and general members also collaborated on a poster for the event, and one of our officers made pokeballs to match the theme. Once the event began, everyone enjoyed eating pizza provided by the non-profit organization, Red Cross, while socializing with one another. After this, we all participated in games such as Soulmates, Speed Dating, and an iteration of Rock Paper Scissors to become more familiar with each other. During the closing parts of the social, we sat in a circle and discussed topics ranging from our Key Club experience to who our favorite music artists were. Overall, the event was very enjoyable and tons of fun. The goal was definitely accomplished, as both the officers and general members became closer and formed new friendships.

D13 SUMMER INTERCLUB EVENT Tate Noble Hype Team Member | Mayfair

On Sunday, May 29th, there was an inter-club event with Mayfair (D13N), Larchmont (D13W), and SATO (D13S) <3! We were able to come together and help design tote bags for struggling moms during the month of Mothers Day! Our clubs also set up a pen pal program so we got to meet our penpals from the different schools as well!! We participated in a tug-o-war battle for pizza. Not only that, but we threw water balloons at each other! Personally, I had so much fun painting a tote bag with one of my friends at Grand Park, the view and scenery was so peaceful! Members came dressed as their types, and awards were given out for best dressed from each of the clubs. Overall, the event was really fun and everyone who went enjoyed themselves.

MAY DCM Andrew Martinez Historian & DMC | Cerritos

On May 21st, Cerritos Key Club participated in the May Spelling Bee DCM at the Bellflower Kiwanis Hall. It was a huge success, as Cerritos’ number in member participation had made a drastic comeback, with over six officers attending. This was a massive increase to the one member that attended April DCM. Our officers enjoyed supporting Gahr Key Club by purchasing their delicious onigiri, as well as supporting Mayfair Key Club with their ice cream and french toast fundraiser. Additionally, we made alphabet cards for elementary students to assist in their learning. Cerritos Key Club would also like to commemorate our Key Club - Keyutie, Andrew Martinez on becoming Division Media Coordinator and representing Cerritos Key Club. This was a very memorable DCM for those who attended and we are looking forward to a member increase for all upcoming events. 14 14

Moreover, we’ve had a very successful fundraiser at 808 Local Hawaiian Grill, accumulating $130+ towards the pediatric trauma program so thank you to all who came and supported! We will soon be hosting an interclub with Cams Key Club from Division 19 North, as well as other miscellaneous events within our home club!
