HOWWWW ARE YOU PEELING DIVISION 13 NORTH ?!!? I am Lauren Trinity Uy and I proudly serve as Division 13 North’s Division News Editor (DNE) for the ‘22-’23 term :D I would like to formally welcome all readers to the BANANA BULLETIN! I am extremely ecstatic to be publishing the second issue of the BANANA BULLETIN! This month has been super hectic and crazy but I am so very thankful for my publicity committee, I would like to give a huge shout-out to everyone on the committee for their hard work this month. As well, I would like to give a special shout out to Vienesse Datu! You have helped me so much this month and without you the BANANA BULLETIN would not be as good as it is today. In the blink of an eye I can’t believe it’s July already! Summer is literally swingin’ by so fast. I hope you are all resting and enjoy this vacation time. Yet, nonetheless this past month for D13N was an absolute blast, we have been staying busy with so many great events such as PTP KARAOKE NIGHT & HUNTINGTON BEACH CLEAN UP! Lastly with all the hard work I have seen behind the scenes for our division, I would just like to commend all clubs and all officers for working so hard this past month. Everyone continues to improve and help our Division each and every day. Know that your hard work is seen and to KEEP IT UP :)) With that being said, thank you so much for reading this term’s second issue of BANANA BULLETIN! I hope you readers enjoy it!

Swingin’ for Service,

WHAT’S SWINGIN’ DIVISION 13 NORTH! My name is Kai Noah Jugo and I proudly service as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2022-2023 term! What a Summer it has been! From service, to fundraisers, to all the DCMs in the past few months, I am extremely proud of where our division has set us up for this upcoming school year. I am so ecstatic with our consistent attendance at our DCMs. With saying hello to all of your club presidents of the term, to welcoming your DLT and committee members, these past few months are ones to be remembered and reminiscent upon. I am so HAPPY that you all are continuing to stay active with serving our communities and staying updated on the division level even during the Summer time! In addition, I am grateful to all of you who attended Super Smash BrO-T-C! I hope you all had a fun time strengthening your leadership through presentations, meeting members of our sister divisions, as well as listen to Glimpse of Us by Joji on repeat. I really hope to see you all at Region Training Conference in the month of October! Outside of these events, our division has participated in many fundraisers for PTP such as our Karaoke Night fundraiser where members sang their favorite tunes for $5! Members also enjoyed boba sold by Gahr Key Club, musubis from Mayfair Key Club, and nachos. With school just around the corner, i hope you all stay motivated with Key Club and recruit some of your friends to our big family! Key Club is the BEST club on every school campus and I want to share these memories with as many people as possible. The more, the merrier! With that, I am so EXCITED to see where our division will be a month from now. Until next time!

Swingin’ for Service,

Division 13 North Lieutenant Governor ‘22-’23

As we enter the last month of summer (literally going to cry), make sure to get in that last hoorah before readying yourself for another rigorous school year! I hope everyone has a successful and happy year in high school, and to GO. FOR. IT. go to that audition , TAKE that rigorous class, I believe in you. if you ever need a shoulder to cry on about ap classes , I’m always here (ap statistics haunts me to this day). And on the bright side, this is a great time to invite newcomers to our kc family <3 show up to events and let everyone know your great experiences are in key club and tell them what big events are to come! invite others who are a bit too shy to come on their own, be inclusive :D there is so much in store for you all and we can’t wait to share it with you. so keep on the lookout for those! Other than that , PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE enjoy the rest of your summer <3333, swinging off!

Good morning! Good afternoon! Or Good Night!

Can I just say, Division 13 North, that this past month has been an absolute SWINGING time for our division. Whether it be fundraisers, service, or social events, our division has been thriving in all departments. I mean we’ve had garden cleanups, a Taste of Lakewood service opportunity, and karaoke!?! Simply amazing. I’m SO proud of our division for the growth that we have been showing; I could almost cry! Division Leadership Team and Club Boards alike have been working so hard to ensure a bountiful member experience, so always be sure to show them love. DO continue to keep in touch with us, and have an amazing day! :DD

Estela Vasquez

HOW DO U DO GREEN MON-KEYS?!? I would first of all like to say thank you to all those who came to division events during the month of June and for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend time with your fellow Key Clubbers and serving your community. Summer is an incredibly import part of Key Club, or at least to me, and I promise you that you don't want to miss out! This is the time where we start introducing and meeting new members. It's also a great opportunity to bond with one another without too much stress from school. I'm so glad to see many new faces lately and to start recognizing more people. There's one more month left of summer so let's make it count! :D

JUNE DCM Alyssah Patterson President | Artesia In June, Artesia Key Club held our very first Fundraiser!! It took place on June 26th during June DCM. We were fortunate enough to raise over $50 towards club funds which we will use to create fun activities for members. We sold savory esquites for $5 per cup that many purchased and enjoyed. June DCM has been noted to be one of the best yet with its pleasurable "Surf's Up" theme that allowed members to dress in aloha-themed clothing. After President's Updates, Division Committee Members were announced and introduced. Division Recognition Awards were bestowed, which provided many members with astonishment and inspiration. Our DLT provided numerous joyful activities such as a handshake-creation icebreaker, water balloon catch, captain's coming, and a division water balloon fight. Artesia Key Club aspires to continue growing and succeeding each month to come!!!

END OF THE YEAR BANQUET Andrea Urena Historian|John Glenn

On June fourth we held our End of Year Banquet at Zimmerman Park. There wasn't really a theme except everyone brought food as we had the banquet kind of a potluck. I brought fruit, so it was a healthy option. Im happy to say that most of our club members were able to end the ones who made it included: Stany Hernandez (president), Javier Reynoso (vice president), Margarita Calderon (secretary), Sammy Hamouda (treasurer), Me (Andrea Urena Historian), Madison Luna, Gilberto Calderon and Jacob Miranda. The event was a way of celebrating the end of the year with some fun and some good food. We played twister, uno, joked around and took lots of fun pictures using a drone that Diego had brought. It was a great way to wind down and to start the month.

BERRY BRAND FUNDRAISER Estela Vasquez Events Committee Fundraising Chair &1/3 EA | Mayfair

On June 26th, Mayfair Key Club held an all day Berry Brand fundraiser where club members were able to enjoy a cool bowl of yummy fruit bowls while supporting Mayfair Key Club! Many members were able to attend after the June DCM that was held nearby and helped raise a total of $100 towards PTP! A lot of members took photos and uploaded their frosty fresh treats on their Instagram stories and tagged @mayfairkeyclub! All in all, I appreciate all the members that went and supported us! The food bowls were absolutely delicious as well!!

TASTE OF LAKEWOOD Anna Tamayo President |St. Joseph

Taste of Lakewood service event took place on June 25 from 3:30-9:00 pm. Division 13 North and I helped collect tickets for the Lakewood Block Party food stands. I was assigned to help at the Raising Cane’s stand. It was really crowded and there were a lot of people who wanted chicken tenders. Katie, my partner, and I sang songs and did dance moves to promote Canes. Besides collecting tickets, I helped pass out napkins and tell employees customer orders. We filled almost four jars of tickets and I learned a lot from the Canes employees, they even tried hiring me at one point. At the end, there were fireworks and I got to watch with all my friends. The service event was a lot of fun and I enjoyed hanging out with everyone from Raising Cane’s and I hope to do a service event like this again!!

BR-OTC Franci Chang President & Funds. Coord.|Gahr

On Saturday, June 18th at Somerset High School D13 held BR-OTC. From small division meetings to large divisions facilitation, OTC is filled with various workshops that are provided to cover all necessary skills to be a successful leader. What an event! The combined divisions of D13 had held our first in-person OTC in two years. I was able to meet various new people, listen to incredible presentations, and network with different advisors. In addition, I proudly presented Public Speaking & Effective Communications! My partner, Mayfair Key Club's president, and I, worked diligently on our presentation and we were proud to deliver the skills we used to make our presidential term successful. We educated club officers about the respective duties of their position. It's elevating to see a room packed with motivated students who wanted to take a step up in their Key Club journey. Big props to the lt. governors, advisors, and attendees for making this event possible. 15

AWESOME 80’S RUN Isaiah Sangkay Event Coordinator|Bellflower

Awesome 80s Run is one of our biggest service events over the summer for Division 13 North. The event took place in Long Beach, California and we had the chance to volunteer during a marathon run! This service event is one of our longer events, lasting a total of 6 and a half hours. Beginning at 6am, we split up into different stations for the event. One station helped sign runners up, giving bibs and safety pins. My group was tasked with restocking trash bins with new bags to ensure no litter. We then supplied runners with energy drinks to make sure they were pumped for the marathon. Once the run started, groups far from the starting were stationed to distribute water to runners, making sure they stayed hydrated. By the end, all of us were lining up together, cheering the runners on. Pain is only temporary! As the event came to a close, we helped tear down. This included throwing away all trash and helping sponsors of the event move their equipment. Awesome 80s Run was an amazing experience and I highly recommend participating in longer events such as this one to all newcomers getting into Key Club! 16 14
