Hi Ninjas! I hope you’re all practicing your cheers for Fall Rally South! We must redeem ourselves after Region Training Conference. (You’re all winners in my heart though! It’s okay.) We’ll come back bigger and better at Fall Rally and we are going to WIN THAT SPIRIT STICK! That leads into another thing, in order to participate in functions such as Fall Rally you must be a dues paid member! Clubs vary their due date for club dues so please ask your Club president! If you’d like to write an article about any of your Key Club experiences during the month of November please email me at d13s.cnhkc.dne@gmail.com! Don’t forget to send pictures too! Have a great day! Crystal Kem

Our annual Stüssy fundraiser is coming up! It will be held at Mayfair High School on November 8th! So come out and support Division 13 South and buy some clothes! There are also volunteer opportunities, if you’d like to help set up, work the sale, clean up, etc. If you have any further questions please refer them to Mayfair’s President, Ciairra Riley!
Key to College is an event where you'll have the opportunity to tour the campus of UCLA with 16 other Divisions in southern California. At Key to College, workshops will be held by Circle K and you can gain valuable information on things such as college, service after Key Club, and much more! *Unfortunately, sign ups for Key to College are CLOSED. Sorry!
Region 8 held their Region Training Conference on October 18th. On that day Divisions 1, 13 North, 13 South, 19 North, and 19 South gathered at Stephen M. White Middle school for two things, to learn more about Key Club, and to show their Division Spirit! At RTC there were workshops for members of all types, ones with positions, new ones, etc.! Along with workshops there was also a Spirit Battle to see who really had the most Division spirit. After battling it out in the arena, Division 1 Foxes came out victorious! After Spirit Battle, there was a date auction held in order to donate money to the Eliminate Project! Our Lt.G Justin Navalta was sold for $72 after our whole Division accumulated money in order to “buy” him. That’s 48 lives we saved alone. At RTC there were many fun activities throughout the day. There was actually a picture challenge that included taking pictures with the Lt.Gs doing things such as a funny face, poking them in the stomach, bowing down to them, carrying them like newly weds, and giving them a piggy back ride. This picture challenge also included things like proposing to Division 13 South, doing a monkey face with Division 13 North amongst other things. The picture challenge was a nice way for Key Clubbers to meet and have fun with each other. If you attended RTC, I hope you’re extremely pumped for Fall Rally because that was just a TASTE of the fun you’ll experience at RTC, and a fraction of the people you’ll meet.
Fall Rally is the BIGGEST District fundraiser held to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program, also known as PTP! At Fall Rally you’ll have the opportunity to meet Key Clubbers from Southern California and Nevada, show your Division spirit at our rally, and give and receive FREE HUGS!

This year we have Rally #3 which will be held at 2:00pm! During our rally we are going up against Regions 2, 8, and 11. More specifically the Divisions we’re going up against are 1, 13 North, 18 East, 18 West, 19 North, 19 South, 21, 33, 37 East, 37 North, and 37 South!
Any form of Division spirit of course! If you don’t know, our Division mascot is the Ninja! If you don’t plan on purchasing the spirit pack (which will include our Division T-Shirt, bandanas, and Thunder Sticks!) along with your Fall Rally ticket, it’s recommended to wear black, yellow, and white!
Set an alarm because you do NOT want to miss this day. Get TONS of sleep the night before! I know it’s going to be hard to get a lot of sleep because you’re going to be SO excited but it’s wise to fuel up and get as much sleep as you can. MAKE SURE that your phone is going to be fully charged, you’re going to need it to take tons of pictures! Be sure to bring a jacket or sweater because it DOES get chilly at night! Make a FREE HUGS sign! It’s a great way to meet Key Clubbers. It’d be wise to bring some spending money. Some Divisions will let you donate money and in exchange they’ll give you some of their Division gear! Try and save your voice as much as you can for the Spirit Battle, we’re winning it this year! All in all, just have fun!

After school every Thursday, we go to room 506 to begin our weekly project: making 1000 Cranes for Cancer. This event works with an organization whose purpose is to conduct the origami with the belief of the Japanese myth: that by placing the cranes in a hospital patient’s room or hanging them from the ceiling, it will bring the patient wellness and good luck. We first started the event on October 3rd, accomplishing a total of 262 cranes. We then changed it to every Thursday, and now have a total of 392 cranes. We hope that by doing this, our members will have some sense of the type of impact they’re making – even if it is just paper origami, it can symbolize support or encouragement to a person battling Cancer. Our goal is to be finished with this event by Thanksgiving Break!
On the Friday evening of September 26th, a small group of lively Key Clubbers, each from a couple of different schools, attended the dinner installing the incoming Kiwanis officers. There was a fun theme, of course! Country style! For that evening we traveled back to the good old days. Old Kiwanians and young Key Clubbers alike, cowboys and cowgirls we were. We donned howdy hats and adopted Southern accents. After serving and taking things away for the rest of the attendees (all much older), we were rewarded with a good old fashioned dinner of steak/meatloaf, chicken, garlic bread, baked potato, and more delectable sides. Of course, we got down to real business by the end of the night, cleaning up the main floor of the historic firehouse the installation party was held at. For the year of 2014-2015, Brian Jones was installed as the new Kiwanis President. The night was enjoyable and influential as we observed and listening to the moving speeches and great stories of the older members in their decades of service going out and those new ones being introduced. The experience was in a way also similar to our own Key Club banquet in a reflection, which may seem far but ultimately must happen.
