Lieutenant Governor’s Note!

WHAT’S POPPIN DIVISION 15 SOUTH! This is it! My last LTG note of the term! This is a bittersweet moment. I often look back at the beginning of the term and remembered how nervous i was to begin leading a new division and set the precedent for D15S. But above all, I was excited! Excited to be with you all and start a new legacy with my amazing members! As we end the term off on a strong note, I encourage you to look back and cherish the memories you had this last term. You all have grown so much with your unwavering spirit and undying passion for Key Club. Continue this spirit as I hand over the torch to our LTG elect CHLOE WU! I am confident she will take you to new heights this next term and make an EXPLOSION in CNH with her booming energy! Please treat her well and show her the exact same love you’ve shown me! Last but not least Division 15 South, thank you. I cannot express the joy and laughter you have brought into my life this past year. I do not regret one bit of anything I did this term because it was all for YOU! I appreciate each and everyone of you. This past term was successful because of YOU and I assure YOU that it will only go up from here. It was an honor serving as your Lieutenant Governor. Love you all the moon and back! <3 L-O-V-E I LOVE MY D-I-V!

Serving with love,

April Lonh D15S LTG 2021-22

HIGHLIGHT A

Eleanor Roosevelt Member:

SHEEP

Kerry Chen

Hello, my name is Kerry Chen, and I am a sophomore attending Eleanor Roosevelt High School. I’ve been in Key Club since my freshman year, and outside of Key Club I really like fashion and music. I like fashion because I can be creative with what I dress myself in, and who doesn’t want to look good as well? I’m also in other clubs like FESA (Far Eastern Student Association), Class Council, Youth City Council, and many others.

What inspired you to pursue Key Club?

My friends and the people in key club motivate me to stay in key club, because like many others, I came for the service. But I stayed and will continue to stay because of the countless people I have met and the memories made.

What was your Key Club moment? My key club moment I would say would have to be fall rally, because just seeing everyone gathered here from all over the place, enjoying and conversating. And at fall rally, me and my friend thought we met our soulmates, but we later found out that we did not meet our soulmates.

MEET OUR LTG ELECT “What are your goals as LTG?” While I have a multitude of tangible goals as LTG, my ultimate goal is to make sure that the members have one of the most memorable experiences of their life. I want Key Club to become their family and be a place where they always look forward to attending. Other than that, this year I hope to achieve 7,000+ service hours and $5,000+ for PTP. One of the main events that I would like to implement into our division is a SHEEPIE FESTIVAL in hopes of increasing member retention! Those are only a few things, so look forward to even more during the term!

“What are you looking forward to next term?”

One thing that I really look forward to this term is bonding with all my members. Key Club really stuck out to me compared to some of the other clubs that I am a part of because it truly is a family. Everytime I attend an event, I feel so comfortable being myself around everyone. Now, I hope to do the same for all my members. I want to get to know each and every single one of them, so that they feel inclined to participate more and are more comfortable to be themselves.

CHLOE WU! 8

CLUB UPDATES ELEANOR ROOSEVELT On Wednesday, January 12th, ERHS Key Club had a general meeting! As our Key Clubbers walked in, they scanned the QR code displayed on the screen and signed in! During this meeting, the officers presented all the latest club updates and introduced our monthly service project (rice race)! Following this, we held endorsement speeches! Our key clubbers running for LTG (Chloe Wu, Kerry Chen, and Evalyn Le) presented their speeches to the club, and then members were given the opportunity to ask them questions!

CENTENNIAL Centennial Key Club’s Dog Toy Making Service Event ended on January 28, 2022. Members made dog toys for service hours. Dog toys can be made of old t-shirts and other materials and they were all donated to the Corona Animal Shelter. Members sent pictures of their dog toys to the Centennial Key Club email. The event ended on January 28, and members had a great time making dog toys!

CORONA On February 5th at Region 13’s Conclave, it was announced that our awesome division historian, Chloe Wu, has been announced as the LTG elect! With everyone’s satisfaction of having an amazing elect, we all decided to participate in a video congratulating her; which was led by Kerry Chen. Our club president, co-vice presidents, secretary, and treasurer all met up during class to help film this video and make it complete for our elect.

JOHN F. KENNEDY Our first meeting of the year as our mini activity we decided to have all of the sheepies write a letter to their future self and to set some goals for the new year whether it was school related, sports related, or just for life in general. We also provided more information on new officer positions so we can prepare them for our elections in the beginning of February.

NORCO Arriving at 7 in the morning at Nellie Weaver Hall, volunteers were preparing for the long yet exciting day ahead of them. On December 11th 2021 the city of Norco held an event where families were invited to a breakfast with Santa. Key club members were invited by the Kiwanis Club to assist in serving drinks and food during the event. Arriving at Nellie Weaver Hall, members were put to work right away. Members were put to organize the condiments and drinks which they continued to do throughout the event. Members were able to provide for their community as the “rush of the event kept me moving” said one member, Odalys Mendoza. Others were cleaning tables for families and bringing them supplies that they needed. We were so excited to be a part of this event as it showed us the true meaning of being in a community. We wanted to help others and motivate those younger than us. One family had even questioned members as to why they decided to volunteer and how to join.

SANTIAGO On January 22nd Santiago Key Club and Norco Key club had a joint social where we painted tote bags together! This event was held at Promenade Park from 3 to 4:30pm and it was super fun to paint and decorate bags with everyone. This social was lots of fun and painting was such a relaxing and de-stressing activity that was super fun at the same time. Both officer boards were there and it was really fun to hang out with some of the Norco Key Clubbers. This event was held to have members meet people from other schools and to expand their circle of Key Clubbers they know and for the officer boards to get to know each other better. Huge thanks to the Norco officer board who helped plan and buy the materials and special thanks to the advisors from both Santiago and Norco that chaperoned for us!

So it’s only fitting that Monumental Service is our 2022 convention theme, which will inspire our workshops, service projects and convention activities. We are excited to celebrate a year of creative service and our Key Club members who stepped up to the challenge of leadership. PRESIDENT’S Centennial

Ellorie Mariano

Hey Key Clubbers! CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW ‘22-‘23 CENTENNIAL KEY CLUB OFFICER BOARD! We just held elections, and we had a great turnout. I am absolutely proud of everyone who ran, and I am excited to see you all progress along your Key Club journey. I know you’re going to do great things. For the month of February, Centennial Key Club has been working on Cupid Kits, where members can create Valentine’s Day themed goodie bags to give to those in our community. With a little under two months left in the term, I hope that we all can finish strong! Make sure to come to our last two DCMs!

Corona

Madelynne Nguyen

February has been a very calm month for Corona. Some members represented Corona at the 2022 Conclave, and we welcomed out new LTG-elect with a club video. Currently, we are working with JFK and Santiago Key Club to coordinate a spirit battle and Easter Egg Hunt for April!

On top of that, to end the term with a bang, we’re going to host an outside of school event with some clubs at JFK!! Norco

Roxy Fisher

Hey Key Club! We are so excited to be doing elections this month. Although it’s sad to go, it’s important for us to keep changing and growing. We can’t wait for the excitement of elections! <3

Santiago

Nicole Hatton

Santiago is offering Tappy tree which is a game that members can play to plant real trees! We are also planning another restaurant fundraiser and our last one was at Panda Express. In February, we had club rush and it was really windy that day, but we still managed to pull through. Elections are coming up for us at our meeting on the 23rd and we had an elections webinar at the end of January to prepare members. A lot of changes have happened lately, and I’m really sad to see this term almost end, but I’m also excited for what’s to come in the future!
