Lieutenant Governor’s Note!

What’s poppin sheepies! Welcome to the season of love! Whether it be self-love, platonic love, or romance, I hope you are surrounded by your loved ones and/or people you deeply care about! This is it. We have officially 1 and a half months left of the term. While it seems so far, I cannot express how fast everything is passing by in a flick of an eye. We Have accomplished so much in such a little time And I cannot wait to see what more we accomplish together as a division. Looking back at this time only remember the good memories such as fall rally South, are amazing dcms, and above all the smiles we made together as one big family. I hope that you guys take the time in these next month or so of the term to really bask in these moments and to reflect on what you have accomplished as a member and as a person this past few months. I do not want you guys to lose your motivation for Key Club or even this organization in general as we head towards the end. I hope that you guys learn all the amazing things about Key Club International as well as the importance of service in our community. I'm so grateful to be here with you guys to be loved by my members and to truly just serve you guys as your Lieutenant Governor. Once more, I hope that you're trying to buy your loved ones this season and if anything you're spending time with your friends, your family or yourself because you deserve self-love. Thank you so much division 15 south for everything you have done for me I love you!

Serving with love,

April Lonh D15S LTG 2021-22

HIGHLIGHT A

Corona High Member:

SHEEP

Jordan Pangalila

Hello my name is Jordan and I am a proud member of Corona Highs Key Club! Although I’ve been a member for less than a year, I’ve had so many fun and memorable experiences and I’m glad to be part of such a division. Outside of Key Club, I am on my school’s FPK team, and I’m pretty active on Tik Tok @ayrjordan!

What inspired you to pursue Key Club? I liked the purpose after going to the meetings and after going to my first event, i really liked how close of a community kc is which inspires me to continue to be dedicated to my division. I really enjoy the experiences i’ve had and i am thankful for everyone i’ve met on my journey so far. Kc became the club i could associate myself with after not finding any other clubs for me at school.

What was your Key Club moment? My key club moment has to be the time at this year’s Fall Rally when a group of people asked my home club how we felt and i showed off my division spirit. At that time i felt more involved with my division more than ever and i truly felt like a member of d15s.

CLUB UPDATES ELEANOR ROOSEVELT On December 4th, ERHS Key Club held a street clean up with our sponsoring Kiwanis! Members, grabbing gloves and trash bags (and also wearing masks), cleaned along the entire street of Scholar Way, along with the parking lot of our high school. Together, key clubbers, kiwanians, and other members of our city, helped pick up trash for about an hour! This was an amazing opportunity for members to not only help keep their city clean, but also get to know their sponsoring Kiwanians, along with other people who help to keep their community clean, a bit more!

CENTENNIAL During the month of December, Centennial Key Club began the Dog Toy Service Project, where members could make dog toys for service hours. Dog toys can be made of old t-shirts and other materials. Each toy would be donated to the Corona Animal Shelter. Members would send pictures of their completed dog toys to the Centennial Key Club email. The Dog Toy Service Project will continue into the next month and it will end during January.

CORONA On December 30th, our president Madi Nguyen, and our co-vice-president Dasia Jimmons, went to the thrift store to purchase little keys as an award! These key awards will be given to Corona’s Key Club’s proactive members potentially for our February social, or sometime else in the future before the term ends!

JOHN F. KENNEDY On December 9th we decided to have a destress potluck for our last meeting before winter break. This allowed students to be less stressed for finals. Ms. Debra was also kind enough to bring some food for us to have at our potluck. Overall I’d say it was a nice experience and we’d like to have another one again.

NORCO Arriving at 7 in the morning at Nellie Weaver Hall, volunteers were preparing for the long yet exciting day ahead of them. On December 11th 2021 the city of Norco held an event where families were invited to a breakfast with Santa. Key club members were invited by the Kiwanis Club to assist in serving drinks and food during the event. Arriving at Nellie Weaver Hall, members were put to work right away. Members were put to organize the condiments and drinks which they continued to do throughout the event. Members were able to provide for their community as the “rush of the event kept me moving” said one member, Odalys Mendoza. Others were cleaning tables for families and bringing them supplies that they needed. We were so excited to be a part of this event as it showed us the true meaning of being in a community. We wanted to help others and motivate those younger than us. One family had even questioned members as to why they decided to volunteer and how to join. They saw us as an inspiration and were motivated to give back as well.

SANTIAGO On December 11th Santiago Key Club had a winter themed booth at our school’s Winterfest! Winterfest is an event open to the community where clubs can sell snacks or anything they choose to raise money for their club. This was such a great event, we sold ramen cups at our booth and they were a huge hit! We ended up selling out so it was a really great fundraiser for Santiago’s Key Club. This event was really fun to work at because we invited some of the members to help us sell ramen cups and it was so great to get closer to our members! Huge thank you to the Santiago officer board that made the event so successful and fun!

Washington D.C., the site of the 2022 Key Club International Convention, is home to the United States’ most famous monuments. And when we gather there July 6-10, we’ll have a lot to talk about — including how our members have risen to meet the challenges of the past two years.

So it’s only fitting that Monumental Service is our 2022 convention theme, which will inspire our workshops, service projects and convention activities. We are excited to celebrate a year of creative service and our Key Club members who stepped up to the challenge of leadership. Through Monumental Service, we also honor the values of inclusivity and caring Key Club members embody. Plan now to join us, whether in person or virtually. PRESIDENT’S Centennial

Ellorie Mariano

Hey Key Clubbers! It’s hard to believe we only have 3 months left in the term :( Centennial has been preparing for our officer elections process. We’re excited to see who may potentially be our next officer board! We wish all candidates the best of luck. As for service, this month we are hosting an ongoing dog toys project, whereas next month we will be hosting a tennis court clean up at our school. We recently have been working on our portfolios and recognition for our members as well! Let’s finish off these last couple of months strong.

Corona

Madelynne Nguyen

In January, Corona Key Club has been working a lot behind the scenes as second semester has kicked off! We are currently coordinating a inter club Valentines social with Santiago and JFK high school. We are also planning to recruit more members, and are working on another Club Rush event with ASB.

Santiago

Nicole Hatton

Santiago has had 3 service projects this month. We are doing letters against isolation, Vizer, and Deedly. We are also planning a restaurant fundraiser that is yet to be determined. Other than that, we are having an interclub social event with Norco key club where we will be decorating tote bags! It’s at Promenade Park on the 22nd at 3pm and this will be our first interclub together. We are also thinking about doing a Valentine’s event with other key clubs in the division which is still to be determined.
