DIVISION 25 EAST

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR TYLER KOWTA

Hello Division 25 East, I hope you are all having an amazing start to the year! January has welcomed us with many events such as New Year’s, start of the school year, and conclave! We can truly say: New Year, New Us! That is exactly what is going to happen! As many of you know, we are changing our Division number to Division 16 East. The reasoning behind this is because of the Kiwanis of Division 25 is dissolving. Sadly, there will be no more Division 25 but thankfully, we will be in Division 16 now. This also means that all of the Kiwanis in Division 25 will be moving to Division 16 as well. Getting a new name for our Division is like having a new extension of our family. They are welcoming us with open arms, which I am very thankful for. Although many of us have been accustomed to saying Division 16 East, we will be Division 16 East when DCON ends and our new Lieutenant Governor has been installed. On January 16th, we had held our annual conclave to elect our new Lieutenant Governor for the 2016-2017 term. After a very hard decision between the delegates and all the clubs in the Division we had finally elected our new Lieutenant Governor. Our Lieutenant Governor Elect is… can I get a drumroll please… Ashley Tran! Please welcome her with open arms. She has done an outstanding job throughout the term and I have no doubt that she will be do an amazing job! Please also be easy on her and talk to her! She is super nice and will be new to the process. As a Lieutenant Governor, I am not perfect. We all make mistakes and we will learn from them. I believe that Ashley will do an outstanding job and will impress each and every one of you. Thank you for everything throughout the term. I still have until April and I hope I can still make you all proud and happy! I hope you all are looking forward to the many events and activities we have for the upcoming year. I encourage each and every one of you to apply for contests and distinguished officer awards! By applying, you have a chance to be recognized on stage at District Convention! The deadline for contests is February 10th to the member recognition email. Distinguished Binders are due on January 31st by 11:59 PM to myself so the Division Judging Committee can look over them. My email is d25e. cnhkc.ltg@gmail.com so please make sure to email me for any questions as well. Thank you for all that you do! See you all at Region Winter Olympics and more!

DIVISION 25 EAST

LIEUTENANTELECTGOVERNOR ASHLEY TRAN

Conclave was such an emotional day for me. I was elected to become the first Lieutenant Governor of Division 16 East. I felt scared and nervous but I had to BEE confident in myself. I promised myself that whatever happens today, I will continue to serve. After hearing my name, tears of joy came running down my face. It was truly an unforgettable moment for me. I couldn’t believe it; it felt so unreal. Words can’t explain how happy I am. This was a goal of mine ever since I joined Key Club. I wanted to serve our BEE-utiful division. I can’t wait to begin my 2016-2017 term as Lieutenant Governor. Since I was elected as Lieutenant Governor, I will support each club and president, promote inclusiveness, make the members feel like they’re apart of an OHANA, create a stronger bond with Kiwanis, and most importantly I will continue to SERVE no matter what. L-O-V-E I LOVE MY D-I-V!

C O N C L AV E Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful time! Conclave is where all the elected Presidents and Vice Pres (delegates) decide and vote for the new Lieutenant Governor. It was very exciting, and I’d like to congratulate one of the best people I’ve met in Key club, Ashley Tran as the first Lt.G of Division 16 East! Also, I would like to recognize and thank everyone came to the event and support the upcoming term. I can’t wait to see what this term has in store for each of us.

-MONIQUE BASTO, CLEVELAND

As a keyclubber, I always look forward to decorating the floats that'll be showcased in the New Years Rose Parade. This year not only did I cut the flowers, but also I was chosen to put them directly onto the float. It is so rewarding seeing my hard work pay off as I watch the Rose floats pass by on my television. Spending time with ambitious and altruistic individuals from my club, division, and district was also a great experience. This was my last time participating in decorating the floats as a key clubber and I'm glad to say it was also my favorite time.

It’s a new year! Hopefully everything will turn out better this year with more members actively doing more service. I know the holiday break gave me time to relax but there are still more things to come. Personally, I think our club will work on getting more members involved and getting them excited for new officers. – Shelsy Hernandez

Recap of the Month:

Rose was definitely an awesome experience. From driving all the way from the San Fernando Valley to the long beautiful city of Pasadena was one to remember. I was given the opportunity to cut flowers with other members from Division 3 South and Division 35 West. I learned how to also patch regular edible seaweed to one of the floats after lunch. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to come back next year and see all the other beautiful floats.

James Monroe High School December Gift Wrapping was a success. Having a table set up inside of Sports Chalet was predicted to not have such a big outcome but the amount of presents wrapped proved otherwise. We had a few people who came in and saw what we were doing and decided to accept the offer. A big part of the annual event is for us to fundraiser for Project eliMiNaTe, and many people asked us what the cause was an it felt great to know that we are helping an organization with something amazing as saving lives.
