DIVISION 25 EAST

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR TYLER KOWTA

Hello Division 25 East, I hope all of you have been having a great year so far! I can’t believe it’s already February. Time is going by so fast and the end of the term is approaching very quickly. I would just like to take the time to thank every single individual who has dedicated their time to serve their home, school, and community during this year. YOU have made a huge difference and I am so proud of you. Division 25 East would be nothing without the numerous members that show up to events. Thank you to each and every one of you for your continuous dedication and I hope to see you soon! With the term ending soon, District Convention is quickly approaching. Remember to talk to your president about district convention if you are interested and I hope you all are able to make it! DCON is such an amazing experience for myself and the many others who attend every single year. This year, it will be held in Sacramento, CA! Don’t miss out on the many activities, work shops, spirit, and so much more at this year’s District Convention! You will NOT want to miss this! Remember to always be kind to one another and please contact me if you have any ideas for events or just want to talk! Thank you for all that you do!

Key club officers have been elected but it seems that our club is struggling at the moment with member retention. I know I haven’t been diligent with going to events, but hopefully time opens up on people’s calendar and everyone puts more effort toward service and everything Key Club related. – Shelsy Hernandez

It’s a new year! Hopefully everything will turn out better this year with more members actively doing more service. I know the holiday break gave me time to relax but there are still more things to come. Personally, I think our club will work on getting more members involved and getting them excited for new officers. – Shelsy Hernandez

SAY GOODBYE TO

, HELLO TO

As we sit back and enjoy another month of service and beyond, Kennedy’s officer board, current elects, and a few of our member’s work together to fundraise for DCON. District Convention is coming up soon and our goal this month is to raise as much as five hundred dollars for those wanting to experience this event. From selling spam musubi, having boba fundraisers, selling chocolate bars and selling dozens of brownies, we hope to reach this goal! “It warms my heart to see such an inactive member come back to Keyclub and enjoy all the opportunities, to see more people pay off dues, and to see those attending meetings... It’s truly an amazing thing and I love it. We hope you guys keep coming back! I highly encourage all of you to run for positions! See ya next time.” -President Elect & Historian, Rus-Ann Ibay

Northridge Academy High School Emma Pineda, Northridge Academy’s Tech editor, recently attended everybody reads. There she got the chance to read to fourth graders and get them engaged into the books she was reading to them. “I loved the two girls that I got paired up with. They were engaged and were comfortable around me. Since they were fourth graders and actually knew how to read I let them read to me for a while. I told them they were amazing to boost up their confidence and also to push them to be even better. The reason for this program is to get kids gain a passion for reading and I accomplished this with the two girls I was paired up with.”

James Monroe High School December Gift Wrapping was a success. Having a table set up inside of Sports Chalet was predicted to not have such a big outcome but the amount of presents wrapped proved otherwise. We had a few people who came in and saw what we were doing and decided to accept the offer. A big part of the annual event is for us to fundraiser for Project eliMiNaTe, and many people asked us what the cause was an it felt great to know that we are helping an organization with something amazing as saving lives.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Member Reflection
“I learned that hard work is key to life. I also l learned that when it comes to events like these, everyone should work together and cooperate with each other. It was me, Amanda, Joshua, Kayla Sara, Katie & Jillian, who mainly worked at the water table. We were passing out water to the runners/walkers. It was a great experience working with new people and also with D25W who was also volunteering there (they were mainly just the “cheerleaders” motivating the runners/walkers.” -Megan, 12th grade
