Aloha Pandas! <3 For this month, I want to keep it short and simple and just say thank you. I wouldn’t have made it this far without all of your love and support. I know we may not have met before or have seen each other in a long time, but everytime I see you guys work on your clubs, obtain service hours, and attend my DCM’s; I get a spark of motivation each time. For this event I had made a meal for my family. My dad’s birthday was coming up so I wanted to make him something special. I made one of his favorite dishes. I made Kalbi for his birthday and making meals can make an event feel special. - Bryson Yamada, Coronado

I really enjoy plarn because it’s so simple and you can do it when you are watching shows. It gives me enjoyment that doing such simple things will help people who are in need! - Angela Cha, Coronado

The Dog Toy making event was really fun! I enjoyed making dog toys out of my old tshirts. I spent my free time making dog toys while watching Twitch streams and Netflix. It was a super successful event and I hope we do it again. We donated all of our dog toys to a Pawsitive Difference. Overall, I think the event is something we should do again. Emilia Dang, Coronado

Over quarantine, I have found that making masks is a fun way to spend my time. I usually make the round masks instead of the rectangle masks because the fit is better and it’s easier to make. I trace out the shape of the mask onto sheets of fabric, cut them out, and sew them together. I like finding fun fabric designs and shaping them into masks. Mask making is an entertaining Key Club service that helps me spend my time productively! - Niki Almenario, Coronado

My experience with making dog toys for Jeff was a little frustrating at first because I had no idea what I was doing but then I got the hang of it. Once I got the hang of it I just kept going! In the end I made 12 toys and I put my own little twist to them! I cut the shirts in half so the toys would be smaller to accompany fun sized dogs. - Christina Nguyen, Valley

I love animals and I surely love my small pomeranian. Hearing we were making dog toys for either our own pets or for the pets in the animal foundation, it sounded like fun! It was such an easy process to eliminate, cutting a strip from an unused shirt and braiding it tightly—soon repeat. While this was occurring, our board members and some members gave advice for those who needed it the most, talking about school, note taking advice, why some clubs are so beneficial and even funny pet stories! I got along with my members very easily. This was such a safe environment for everyone! - Alexis R.M. Creayla, Valley

This event was really meaningful for both dog shelters, lower classmen, and upperclassmen. Making the dog toys was really fun especially knowing that some of us were going to donate it to a dog shelter. At first I was kind of confused making the dog toys but then I got the hang of it. On top of that, upperclassmen gave great advice for lowerclassmen but it was really funny knowing that some upperclassmen realized that they had to also follow their advice. All in all, it was a great experience talking with fellow members and getting to know experience talking with fellow members and getting to know them a bit better, but also being a part of this service event helped me notice how amazing it is to do Every weekend I serve as a middle something impactful for the school leader for Central Church! It’s community. - Bryana an amazing and fun environment Zarate, Valley where students come to find encouragement. I co-lead a group of 7th and 8th grade girls just trying to keep the energy up and allow them to have a safe space and make long lasting relationships! Also at Central Church, they have one of the largest food pantries in America! I got the privilege to help hand out food for families in need! We boxed up a bunch of food items and distributed them to the cars that were lined up! Some of the families had been there since 6am just waiting to get food and just seeing the smile on their faces when they were given it made my day! - Alyssa Tyndall, Silverado
