Aloha Pandas!

Lots of Love,

LTG’S MESSAGE

I hope everyone is having a good start with school <3! I encourage you all to do amazing things this school year. I know we all weren’t expecting to start our school year being virtual, but that doesn’t stop us. Our generation will forever make history and this is something we will remember for a lifetime. Continue being the best you can be, continue to grow, continue to make new friends, and continue to learn something new everyday. You all are so amazing and I hope you have a good school year!

EDITOR’S MESSAGE

Aloha Pandas! It’s the end of summer and we’re all already heading back to school! I hope you make the most of the last few days we have of summer. It seems like no time at all has gone by since the last issue of The Paw! I hope all of you still continue strong throughout the beginning of the school year! I want to say thank you to all of the advisors and members who continue to serve our community! I wish all of you a smooth start to the school year, and I will see you all in the next issue of The Paw!

Serving with Passion and Pride,

Agustin Valdez

For me, cooking is where I get a majority of my service hours. It’s convenient for me since I’m the one who does most of the cooking/baking at home. A few of the things that I’ve made include lava cakes, creme brûlées, chicken alfredo, etc. It’s efficient because not only do I get to eat most of the food that I make for the family, but I also learn a life skill that I will need in the future. - Joshua Francia, Coronado

I made leis for my cousin's graduation. It is very sad that the class of 2020 did not get to experience graduation, and I thot making leis was a small gesture that I could do. All of my family got together at this time to make my cousin feel special for her graduation day. It made her very happy when she saw all the work we put into it. I made two money leis and three candy leis. - Samantha Eres, Liberty

During this time the elderly have been feeling very alone. I do my best to help out in whatever ways I can. When it comes to cleaning or even just keeping them company. Sometimes I help out with the staff in making sure that everything is done efficiently. - Leila Hashida, Liberty

My friend Carlos came over, so we decided to customize and craft a few things. We came up with an idea to sew face coverings/masks, and give them to friends. My mom found some old pillowcase fabric in the back of the house which had a disco pattern on it. Both masks took me about 7-10 hours in total, for two days. This is mainly because I’ve never really sewn that much, plus I kept messing up the thread. I was so happy at the end result however. I followed an instructional video on YouTube and it took them like 3 minutes! It all sounded so complicated but it's much simpler than you think! I love these masks and everyone should at least try to make one for a friend or family member. - Angelina Walsh, Silverado

On July 22nd, my board and I attended a Circle K meeting. This was so we can see how they’re doing their online meetings and if we can implement some of their ideas. When I went, I didn’t expect to be welcomed so warmly. They had a very friendly attitude and also had a good vibe. They were quirky, sweet, and funny. Not only that, they also had a lot of fun service and fundraiser events going on. I took a lot of notes and can’t wait to share it with my board! - Malynee Sackdavone, Valley

While we were at Circle K’s meeting, they were awesome and super nice to us. They made us feel welcomed. They got down straight to business and talked about the new events and old ones they were doing. It gave me, and the club hopefully new ideas so we can input them into our club. This meeting gave us new information that we can use in Key Club. - Kandy Valencia, Valley
