Letter From Your D28W LTG Elect Hey Division 28! The term is almost over, and I am very excited to serve as Division 28 West’s Lieutenant Governor for the upcoming term! I am always amazed at what key clubbers can do when we work together to serve the community. Keep up the good work and take care of yourselves. District Convention is coming up. I hope to see many members attending to honor and say goodbye to the previous board while saying aloha to the new board. Don’t hesitate to contact me or the current board with any questions, comments, or concerns!

Serving under moonlight,

Ritchie Paek

Car wash for

district convention

“The car wash for DCON on the 14th of January was the second car wash I’ve ever been to. It’s probably the most memorable as well because it was the first time I ever washed my mom’s car. While my hands began to freeze as I scrubbed the car clean, I recall my mom casually talking on the phone to her friend and I’m almost certain that she was dying of laughter on the inside. The experience overall wasn’t that bad, but there are two different sides to this event. The weather conditions weren’t the best since it was super windy and out of the whole four hours, I think we ever only got a few minutes of sunlight. My hands are naturally cold to begin with, so they suffered even more because of how cold it was. Despite all of that though, this event gave me a really good opportunity to get to work with the upperclassmen of the club and to talk to them a little. Since I, being the somewhat short person I am, couldn’t reach the tops of some cars, I kind of needed help and I think it really helped me know the upperclassmen a bit better and not be so scared of them as before. In the end, we ended up washing a lot of cars and raising a lot of money. Some people donated extra money to support us and it made me really happy, as well as everyone else. ”

Ronald McDonald House Food drive

“I volunteered at Ronald McDonald House of Charities’ Food Drive. It took place at a Smiths on February 4th. While I was there, other Key Club members and I passed out fliers inviting people to participate in the food drive. We ended up getting people to donate about 8 carts full of food. It would end up really helping out the families at the Ronald McDonald House. I feel like this was a good way to improve my skills of talking to people. It made me interact with people that I wouldn’t think of ever talking to. I feel like this also could help improve ANYONE’S talking skills.”

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES KICK OFF

“We helped the Girl Scout leaders with setting up the cookie for the cookie fair and also the game stations. Throughout the day we passed out water to other volunteers that were outside the cookie fair, then when the event ended we helped them clean up.

RELAY FOR LIFE KICK OFF

“The Kick Off was really fun! We played hopscotch and checkers with other people, which was made relay enjoyable. I watched people having dance battles and a surprisingly, a rap battle, which was pretty funny. The dance competition was really cool. One person who battled cancer and won the battle became a spokesperson for all of the members at the event. As he told us his story, he explained his struggle and showed us how Relay For Life can benefit other people like him.
