Haunted

Harvest “Haunted Harvest is always a blast! It warms my heart to be able to see the children in their unique costumes excited about the activities springs preserve has to offer. There were a few bumps in terms of keeping our station organized, but by working as a team, we are able to get the job done! So far, my second year here was personally the best; with an overload of funnel cakes and many laughs with new friends, Haunted Harvest is for sure to be a wonderful experience!“

- Ryan Santiago Northwest CTA “This year's Haunted Harvest event was amazing! NWCTA Key Club was able to volunteer at many stations such as game booths and the prize station. So many of our members came, we were one of their biggest clubs that came to volunteer! Everyone had a great time volunteering, seeing this year's adorable costumes and taking pictures with friends. I can't wait for next year's Haunted Harvest!”

Kickball

For Cancer “This year is the first year I've played on a team and it was pretty scary. I had a fear of someone kicking it and the ball flying right in my face (which didn’t happen, thankfully). Though, I did attempt to kick a ball and missed and fell on my bottom! Everyone was pretty supportive as this misfortune happened. I think that this is part of what makes Kickball for Cancer such a great event every year! I love the idea of a bunch of people from a bunch of different clubs coming together to have fun and, most importantly, supporting the cause of KICKING cancer off the face of the universe! This year, it got really intense (or maybe past years I was too cold to express my team spirit, yikes) as I was extremely stressed while watching other teams play, but I’m sure that everyone had fun, including myself. So many people participated in this event and I'm happy we could help make a difference!”

light the night

“My Light the Night experience, hmm? Where do I start! Well, I guess you can say the night was pretty lit, figuratively and literally. It was very heart warming to see all the lights light up at once. You see, I too was a victim to leukemia as well, just a few years back in the fifth grade I lost my music teacher to this illness. To see that people from everywhere can come to together to raise awareness so that maybe one day no one will have to fall, is very heart warming and I truly believe that it can be stopped once and for all. "The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step." And we all took that first step at the Light the Night together. I truly recommend this walk to anybody, whether they've been affected directly or indirectly, or even if you want to support it for the future. It was beautiful, and I loved the walk. the little kids and their families.”

- Alexander Velazco Northwest CTA “During the Light the Night Walk, I had a lot of fun. As cliché as that sounds, walking and participating in service events is actually a really exciting opportunity. I got to really hang out with my friends and I also got to enjoy myself. During these events, it really opens up your eyes. Elaborating on that, while I was at the Light the Night Walk, we had a moment of silence for those who had died from cancer.”

Region Training Conference

R E C A P

“Wow. That’s it. My final Regional Training Conference. I could not be happier. Maybe I did not take enough pictures but I have enough memories that can last me a lifetime. There’s no amount of words that I could possibly type that would encapsulate how I truly feel right now. As President, seeing the members that I have served so far last Saturday was absolutely breathtaking. From every other presenter I heard nothing but good words. Watching every single member give it their all and exemplify our core values in just spirit alone is a feeling that’s ineffable. To that first meeting where a lot of them did not know what RTC was, to seeing them shout the “How Do You Feel” cheer at the top of their lungs, that kind of growth that I managed to witness and be responsible for is absolutely amazing. As bittersweet as it was, I am overwhelmed with joy knowing that the board and I managed to create so many Key Club Moments especially by taking home that spirit stick. Thank you.”

- Victor Delacruz NORTHWEST CTA “This was my second year attending RTC, and I became even more in love with key club than how before. It was truly an amazing experience where I was able to meet so many more new people. Despite this year being my first time going to the conference as a Desert Oasis student, I am so proud of how big this club has gotten since I saw them at last year’s RTC! The workshops were amazing; I was able to learn so much in the short amount of time I spent in each of them. My love for key club has not only grown but has made me who I am today. I appreciate all the opportunities that this year’s RTC has given me.“
