Leter From Your Executive Assistant GREETINGS SEAMONKEYS! I hope everyone is excited for this upcoming school year and the new opportunities and fun it'll bring. This summer was a blast, and I would like to commemorate everyone who continued to participate in service even outside of school. I'm super excited to continue this term as Executive Assistant, and I look forward to using the new Fruit Point initiative to help members and officers turn in important documents and forms. As we begin the new school year please don't forget to CC me in emails in order to get the correct points for your club. With that being said, I present this month's newsletter! Please enjoy and if you have any further questions/ comments/ concerns don't hesitate to contact me or anyone else on the division leadership team!

Shining with Seamonkey Spirit,

Nicole Kim

Key Club

International convention “ICON is my latest and greatest Key Club Moment. This moment spans over the first week of July and I spent it with the district I'm proud to call home: California-NevadaHawaii, Bees. We first toured the Peachy State of Georgia! From the Martin Luther King Memorial/Human Rights Museum to CNN Headquarters, in the tour alone, I definitely made memories that will last a lifetime. When ICON finally started, I met so many people from around the world! Even in Jamaica they have Key Clubbers as spirited as us! I was able to attend workshops to expand my Key Club knowledge and leadership skills, but my favorite event was the House of Delegates. There we were able to vote on proposed legislature as well as vote in the new International Board! I really do hope we get at least three members to ICON 2017 in San Antonia, Texas because this event was truly eye-opening, breathtaking, and the best thing I have done in a while.

AUGUST DCM

August August13, 13,2016 2016

Where: JW Marriott When: 11-2pm This year’s August DCM was a complete success! Despite the venture trying to find the location within the convention it was the best this summer. We were given the privilege of receiving knowledge from out fellow Circle K brothers and sisters on wha to expect applying for college as well as the different experiences each college has to offer. I couldn’t have asked for a more insightful DCM, I absolutely love it! Not to mention the see’s candy, lollipops, and the fruits (you already know I took a bunch of bananas home), I especially loved those! -Valerie Rivera

Project 150 “Project 150 was truly a fulfilling service event. Before I begin, let me tell you a little bit about the organization and its values. Project 150 strives to supply our community's impoverished teenagers with the clothes, school supplies, hygiene products, and even the small accessories teenagers need to better assimilate into the high school atmosphere. Project 150's main goal is to help these teenagers graduate from high school and destroy the vicious cycle of poverty. This was definitely, for a lack of better terms, a humbling experience to partake in. Some of our responsibilities included taking inventory of the school supplies that were donated to us and organizing them into distinct boxes. Once we were done with that, we sifted through donated clothes and removed those that had stains, rips, and other unruly qualities. The damaged clothes were to be donated to other charities while the undamaged clothes were hung up to be later handed out at Project 150's free boutique. Now, I'm not gonna lie. Project 150's warehouse was very hot, and I was sweating horribly the entire time. But at the end of the day, I realized that my efforts would help another teenager just like me have new school supplies and maybe even a brand new wardrobe. When I realized that, the discomfort really went away. This was truly a memorable service event to partake in. It epitomized the core values of Key Club which are to give back and to make a difference. I was so happy that my efforts would help teenagers in our community have a better life. I would recommend this event to my friends, and I would definitely go again in the future.

RAINBOWS in the

Wind Festival

“The Rainbows in The Wind Festival was a great opportunity to go help out the local organization: Little Miss Hannah. A few key club members and I got to meet some performers, hang out with Kiwanis members from Green Valley, and serve the community. During our service, we passed out water, goodie bags, set up a few paper balloons on a rainbow containing written messages for the people who have passed away, and had fun at the same time. Overall, if this event could be described in one word it'd be: outstanding.
