RELAY Recap

April April29, 29,2016 2016 “A few days ago, I attended my first Relay For Life. Being a freshman and first-year Key Club member, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t expect the four hours of rain which caused us to have to be relocated in doors for the last four hours of the night (I mean morning) and that drenched my panda onesie. Regardless, Relay for Life was a truly memorable experience. For the first seven hours of mostly clear skies, I got to hang out with all of my friends and meet new people from different schools. When we walked around the track in silence in order to remember the purpose of the event, to support the battle against cancer, lanterns were set along the surrounding bleachers, spelling out words like “Hope”, “Win”, and “Cure”. It was truly a profound and beautiful moment. Throughout the night, I felt the love and friendliness in the atmosphere, as we all gathered for a common purpose and spent our nights hanging out and bonding. It was the best social event I’ve ever been to and it was really great because I knew it was for a good cause. So yes, I did mess up my sleep schedule for the weekend, and yes, I did accidentally fall asleep somewhere between 4 to 5 AM (despite my deliberate efforts to stay awake), and no, I did not enjoy being cold and wet, but I still loved all of the great memories I made and I can’t wait to come back to make even more next year.” - CHANEL PULIDO Ed W. Social

“On Thursday April 22th Southwest CTA, Desert Oasis HS and West CTA held their last social to end the year off! For the entire evening key club members and some non keyclubbers had the chance to hangout, play some games and play kickball! Our job was to make our members socialize with other schools and make some new friends! We all got to enjoy some bomb pizza and have our annual kickball tournament despite the windy weather, Southwest still came out on top! Overall it was very successful and fun event for everyone who attended! -Southwest CTA Key Club April April22, 22,2016 2016

ANNUAL

ED W. Clark Basketball Tournament April April23, 23,2016 2016

“The basketball tournament held on April, 23, 2016, was a great success! It was a tournament between five teams, with players from Key Club, NHS, and NTHS. This double elimination tournament held in the AUX gym, came to an epic end with Nihar Raju, June Kim, and Kevin Meng coming out victorious. Alongside the tournament, players who were eliminated were allowed to have free play, and concessions were also available! Overall the tournament was a great experience and well organized by Anu Thennakoon and all of the 2016-2017 Key Club Board. It was definitely competitive, but most importantly fun for all who attended! - DHIMANTHA DASWATTA

OFFICER TRAINING CONFERENCE

May May7,7,2016 2016 “During Officer Training Conference, each of the board members attended a meeting where each officers is taught more about what to do for their position. From learning what to do during meetings to how to record hours, the teachers made sure that every new board officer had a sense of what to do back at their schools and hopefully create a greater environment for their club. One of the best things about this event? It was held at our school! -West CTA Key Club
