letter from the editor what's popping, jellies? Hi, welcome to the November newsletter! By now we should all be adjusted to the new school year - and hopefully to our busy Fall schedules as well - but November brings so much more we must focus on thankfulness. It is easy to get caught up with challenging courses and fun fall activities to forget the true meaning of this month. Please make sure to set aside time for your family and friends and reflect on gratefulness together. That being said, most of us will also be enduring midterms this month. While thankfulness is the main goal during November, we must also take care of ourselves during challenging times! With the busy schedules, rigorous classes, and upcoming midterms, it can be easy to skimp out on our mental and personal health. Remember to get enough sleep, eat well, and get exercise for an hour a day to fight off this cold and flu season! We want to make sure we are healthy and strong for Fall Rally, Jellies! Besides that, be sure to set your November goals and stick to them! We have a lot in store, Jellies, and my goal for this month is to try to keep up with all my schoolwork and extracurriculars - while trying to be more grateful as well, of course ;-) I hope to see the same from you so we can make November a productive month! Enjoy this edition of "The Sting", Jellies!

letter from the ltg what's up, jellies? Can you believe it's already November? Fall Rally will be here before you know it so be ready to show your jelly pride! Last month was super eventful-from cheering at our spirit night to winning the spirit stick at RTC, none of it would have been possible without you. I want to sincerely thank everyone who was able to attend our events last month and I know we are more than capable of achieving greater things this month. With Fall Rally in a few days, please remember that it is not only a fun opportunity to go to Six Flags but also a celebration of our accomplishments as a whole district AND one of the biggest PTP fundraisers of the year! As you are going around the park and meeting new people, don't forget that you are truly making a difference and are saving lives! As we approach FRS Season, I also ask that you push yourselves to get out there and serve the community. We are a service organization after all! Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and attend that one service event you were thinking about going to. Who knows? You might make someone's day. That's about it for this month! I can't wait to see you all soon but until then, please make sure to take care of yourself and get plenty of rest (especially the seniors since college app season is coming up!). Catch you in the next newsletter!

rec september dcm During our September DCM, we were introduced to plenty of Jellies: both returning and newcomers! We kicked off the event with a few icebreakers to lighten the mood and then divided into groups to work on a service project. Groups were responsible for making safety posters that would later be placed around elementary schools. We were also served ice cream during this time and plenty of members mixed and mingled with one another. Afterward, our first Spirit Night commenced! Spirit Coordinators, along with the help of their Spirit Committee, gathered Jellies into an enormous circle to go over the chants. They got both Jellies old and new to bond over Jelly cheers that would be used at Fall Rally South.

- sofia nawaz division news editor

At the September DCM, a total of 10 members joined from Mission Hills Key Club. We started by socializing with new and old friends from other clubs in the division. As a service project, we made safety posters for elementary schools. While doing so, we got to eat ice cream and snacks and proceeded on with the DCM! After, we learned about the progress that other clubs have made in our division. As the DCM was coming to an end, our LTG, Jane Pham, presented awards for the month. Our club ended up winning club, officer, and member of the month with Marbella Ramirez as Officer of the Month and Cecilia Nguyen as Member of the Month! It was another successful and exciting DCM as fellow jellies came together for fun-filled activities!

aps region training conference At the MysteRyTC, also known as the Regional Training Conference, there were members from the Peacocks (D31), Dolphins (D11), Orcas (D37W), Spirits (D37N), Hippos (D21), Bulls (D37S), as well as our own Jellies (D37E) as well as their respected LTGs whom gathered everyone inside the auditorium after members checked in. They began the RTC with their video production that introduced the backstory of MysteRyTC and left members to figure out who was the culprit of taking our spirit stick. Clues were integrated into each session and with each session members were educated on the functions and values of CNH Key Club while also learning how to improve through personal growth and club management. In a segment between sessions 2 and 3 we were rejoined for a general session where we were given a presentation by Kevin Myron on his experiences in Key Club and what he had learned from it. Sessions continues and we were given lunch and during this time there was an RTC Fair occulting. Sessions occurred once more and at the closing session we were entertained and awed by a talent show performed by members. Following this, we were revealed to who was the culprit that stole our spirit stick- and that was Mr. Cunning! Our division had won the spirit battles and so Mr. Cunning bestowed the spirit stick to the Jellies in the hands of our LTG, Jane Pham. As we cheered on our achievement, this wrapped up the closing to MysteRyTC. the division's spirit committee and their coordinators won the spirit stick at rtc for the first time in 3 years!

fall rally south our annual meeting between key clubbers from socal, nevada, and hawaii is approaching quickly! here is what you need to know: what is it? Fall Rally South is held on November 9 this year at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It is an event attended by (almost) every division in the SoCAL, Nevada, and Hawaii region. This means it's a huge ground for mixing and mingling with other Key Clubbers! Overall, the most important quality is that it can help raise funds for Pediatric Trauma Program. Divisions use their PTP donations to bid for LTGs during the rally session - serving as an auction! The division with the most spirit then recieves the Spirit Stick. what do you do there? At FRS, you will have the oppurtunity to meet many lifelong friends! It is wonderful opportunity to meet people in our division, region, or in our district as whole. This is also a good time to meet up with your Region 1.5 PenPal if you didn't see them at RTC! Beyond mingling, Key Clubbers will have full access to rides at Six Flags! You can enjoy the park with a group, but please make sure you respect the general public admission. what do i bring? When attending Fall Rally South, it is a full day event, so please be sure to bring any necessary medications and items you may need. While you should be decked out in spirit wear, please note that spirit sticks and posters with social medias and "free hugs" are NOT ALLOWED except when in the Golden Bear Theater for the Spirit Battle. Please do not use clothing pins either to address your social medias, and choose a more eco-friendly method. I personally recommend to bring a jacket and blanket on the bus as well, as it usually tends to get cold.

club spo san marcos - family fair Our local Fall Family Fair brought together our community into the San Elijo area for a day of fun activities for families of all ages, and our home club contributed with a variety of hands-on activities such as booths. To begin, people would start by collecting a “passport” that would then contain a variety of stamps that you could retrieve as you move from booth to booth. We had volunteers at the beginning booth, introducing people to the event and explaining the purpose of the “passport”. We allowed people to spin a wheel to collect prizes which happened to attract a variety of kids. Additionally, we had volunteers help with other activities such as fun zones for the kids and we also had volunteers help at the raffle table to collect passports and tickets, which would then allow participants to be placed into a raffle for gift cards or a large $400 prize. At the end of the day, our home club volunteers stayed to clean up the park area. We moved decorations back to the truck, cleaned off tables, folded table cloths, and put up chairs before ending the day by collecting leftover decorated pumpkins left by the kids.

tlights mission hills - twin oaks carnival During the Twin Oaks Elementary carnival, 44 members from our Key Club attended. At this event, we got the opportunity to set up and manage booths while helping out with other activities. Members who were assigned a game booth cheered on the kids while they tried their best to win a prize. Our club was lucky enough to have so many of our members attend despite the chilly weather. Yet while we helped at the carnival, it also allowed us to take a much needed break from our studies and give us the chance to indulge in different activities with one another. Our members’ active participation have us excited for future events! - audrey santander

spirit nights what is it? Spirit Nights are hosted by the D37E Spirit Coordinators and their Committee. Every year the Spirit Committee works hard in producing new Jellyfish cheers to be able to use during Spirit Battles. On Spirit Nights, members from the division meet to learn the beat, tune, and lyrics of the chants so they can be used later on elsewhere. what do you do there? It is important to attend these events as they help our chances of being more unified as a division. These Jelly cheers become especially necessary during the Spirit Battle at Fall Rally South. We have the chance to bid for LTGs using our PTP donations and if we show the most spirit, we also win the Spirit Stick for our division - making it important to come with loads of spirit to share! what do i bring? Most Spirit Nights wrap up fairly quickly. I would recommend coming decked out in spirit gear - of course - , bring your medical release form, and any other necessities you may need. where can i find the cheers? The link to this term's cheers are here on our division website: https://division37east.wixsite.com/jellyfish/cheers (courtesy of the D37E Spirit Coordinators and Committee)

spotlight on service

the november spotlight on service is all about the kiwanis family! the kiwanis family is the family of key club that includes elementary students, all the way to adults; all of which help out their community. here is how you can help be a part of the family: ptp dolls You can make PTP dolls to donate to your local hospital. By using old clothing, stuffing, and hot glue, members can make dolls for patients in children's hopsitals. project warmth Collect donations of fleece blankets and canned goods to donate to local shelters. This could be possible through a drive in your school or a drive in the local community. This is an excellent way to help the shelters out during the cold seasons. service action Members can write down their skills on cards (7he cards should look similar to business cards). Then members can auction off their skills to Kiwanis members. Once auctioned the member This is a way to help the community and the Kiwanis Family. book sale You can also host a book sale by accepting donations and marking them at a fair price in your school or community. Please make sure your books are in good condition! After the sale, send the funds to Kiwanis Family afterwards!
